- ericbramlett, on 02/23/2008, -0/+16They got fraudulent appraisals & then sold the house to a co-conspirator who never made payments. He split the profits with the co-conspirator. It's loan fraud - highly illegal.
- TecK415, on 02/23/2008, -1/+16I HATE this. So a rich white guy basically steals 15 million and has to go to prison for ONE f*cking year! But if someone commits the horrific crime of selling weed they get locked up for years.
- ezco506th, on 02/23/2008, -0/+10It says he committed fraud you twit. RTFA.
- hydratedsquash, on 02/23/2008, -0/+10To his defense, hes rockin the tweed blazer.
- inactive, on 02/23/2008, -1/+10I live in Austin and can vouch for everyone around here and say, WE DONT GIVE A *****.
- WNW3, on 02/23/2008, -0/+8Before and after picture?
- PlasmaFlux, on 02/23/2008, -0/+7My boss was ruined by a schmuck similar to this guy (he's scheduled to be released from federal prison in July). My boss had me set up a website to warn people about him. Turns out that while he was already on probation awaiting sentencing in Virginia, he was busy in Florida scamming others. The bottom line is that douchebags like this wreck people's lives and get away scott-free; largely due to the incompetence of the Feds in prosecuting white-collar criminals.
For more info, check out http://coghillthecon.com - nsanidy, on 02/23/2008, -2/+9Well at least he looks like a super classy guy.
- hc5831, on 02/23/2008, -4/+10What's your point? Most real estate agents are crooks anyway.
- Ajajadude, on 02/23/2008, -2/+8Maybe spend a little more time hitting the books and a little less time hitting the pipe and you might not look like an idiot.
- gldfshnpcklejar, on 02/23/2008, -1/+6I live here too, I think he should have a sign outside his business like pedophiles have at their houses. Just because it would be funny. "I am a registered felon"
- scbysnx, on 02/23/2008, -0/+5uhhhh when you appeal the conviction is suspended.. this is legal .. if it were public opinion that he were falsely the and he weren't allowed to get a renewel then people would be flipping out about that.
- ezco506th, on 02/23/2008, -0/+5He made 15 million fraudulently. So, I guess he made a bit of a living.
- jer2eydevil88, on 02/23/2008, -0/+4Find a new trade, work as a janitor! He has already proven himself to be a thief and should not be handling this kind of money.
- reddcell, on 02/23/2008, -0/+4And you should get one outside your house that says, "ULTRA-CONSERVATIVE."
I'm not sticking up for the guy...that's a hefty criminal history, but this comment seems a bit over board to me. I'm not a convicted felon, but I have a adjudicated felony on my record. For what you ask? For being drunk and playing around with my college's servers in a way I shouldn't. Did I deserve my punishment? Yeah. Do I deserve to have it tattooed on my forehead? I don't think so, Sally. I did it when I was 18. I'm 25 now. I think I've learned my lesson. Still can't rent an apartment and still get turned down for employment because of it. I work in I-Sec consulting now, though. - lowfalls, on 02/23/2008, -1/+5So? Felons should be able to get jobs. If they don't, they become prisoners again.
- exomni, on 02/23/2008, -1/+5As long as cannabis possession or use is a felony, this headline means nothing to me.
- N00F, on 02/23/2008, -0/+3Where is Dexter when you need him?
- bxblox, on 02/23/2008, -1/+4They don't call it white collar crime for nothing... If you going to break the law, that's the way to do it.
- isntreal, on 02/23/2008, -0/+3...?
- Tinu, on 02/23/2008, -0/+2lol wow.
- hipRealtor, on 02/23/2008, -0/+2We Realtors lose our licenses for crimes involving "moral turpitude"
So, if this guy is convicted, he will later lose his license.
But not until there's a conviction. - reddcell, on 02/23/2008, -0/+2Sarcasm not detected via text. Carry on then, Liberal Austinite!
- jer2eydevil88, on 02/23/2008, -0/+2Wow that website is powerful! I wish there was a more central website for all criminals like this to be posted on and easily indexed so when people google them they could find what they were looking for.
- ezco506th, on 02/23/2008, -0/+2I wonder if he'll write a book.. oh searching for a title, a title.... hmmm, I've got it! "How to steal 15 million dollars, serve 1 year in jail, pay 87k in fines, pocket the rest, and then start fresh.
- 4degrees, on 02/23/2008, -0/+2dugg for excellent use of "twit". Haven't heard that since monty python.
- chyya, on 02/23/2008, -0/+2haha. pwnd!
although as a digger you know you would still date the one on the right. - BrettFromTibet, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1This is total Digg spam submitted by a Realotr site... look at the submitter.. three submission, all Digg spam.... BURRIED !!!!!!!
- ne0shell, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1Why is anyone surprised? Unless he's managed to bribe a judge in the appeals court he's going to lose and will get his license yanked. Then he'll just move to another state and start over again. The real estate world is full of criminals - look at the housing bust and how from the top to the bottom criminals banked trillions of dollars - the solution to which will be you and I, the taxpayers digging even more money out of pocket to pay for the party. Do you see anyone in Washington discussing going after the huge multi national companies who orchestrated the mess? NO, they are being bailed out while families lose their homes. Where's the discussion of freezing foreclosures? Yeah people took adjustable rate loans betting the boom would keep right on going - they were played and now when the property values fall back to nothing and the foreclosures end the very banks who designed the ponzi scheme will be holding all the assets for pennies on the dollar. With all the world class criminals involved, who cares about this guy?
- gkiltz, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1Convicted felons need to make a living at some point two!
Unless his conviction was for real-estate fraud, or some sort of financial fraud, he deserves a chance to clean up his act, and make a somewhat-honest living! - WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -0/+1Yeah. How about "Don't Steal"?
- scbysnx, on 02/23/2008, -1/+2it doesn't matter whether or not its a free speech case he's still in appeal so the conviction doesn't apply, its stupid that all these whiny people are like "they don't believe in protecting the people" .. they are protecting the people by actually observing the law, you don't get to pick and choose who gets the protection of the law
- inactive, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1NORM!
- sirbeta, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1To be fair, they did explain why they apparently can't deny the renewal (I'm not in the business so I don't know how accurate they're being), although here's hoping in the end it gets revoked no matter what happens.
- heystoopid, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1Hmm , looks like both he and she may have a few numbered accounts with six figure credit balances with that disgraced Swiss Bank laundering drug money and running numerous illegal tax avoidance scams down on the Cayman Islands !
- belovedkid, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1Some felons do not deserve to be shunned from society, however, 5 counts does sound quite outlandish. Many corporations do not take into account the age, or the charge of a felony...just the fact that they had a charge or conviction of a felony. Age changes many people, and it is a shame that more companies do not take part in a probational period where a past felon must meet certain benchmarks (passed drug tests, productive contributions, etc) to stay employed.
Many executives make many worse decisions hurting many more people than a lot of our "felons" have, so I believe they should see their employees in a different light, perhaps. - abayden, on 06/24/2009, -0/+1Many of the people who predicted this bubble say this was all criminal activity. See http://expertswhopredictedthecrisis.com
- rodwambold, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1???????
- ElGstr, on 01/01/2009, -0/+1Bribes, works first time every time.
Actually the FBI WAS told, years earlier than 2004, repeatedly, about mortgage fraud. Years earlier the FBI was GIVEN names, dates, places, addresses and evidence in the public records, and still did NOTHING about the mortgage fraud. I think the FBI was also accepting bribes from the mortgage fraudsters. There's evidence that happened in Northern Nevada. Along with bribes accepted by the Nevada Mortgage Commission, Nevada Real Estate Division, Reno-Sparks Association of Realtors, Judge Fidel Salcedo, and Judge Steve Elliott.
In Northern Nevada FBI Agent Glen Lovedahl and his supervisor were given a preponderance of clear and convincing written evidence from lawyers Kent B. Hanson and Mitchell Wright of MILLIONS of dollars of Reno mortgage fraud, threats, bribes offered and accepted. The investigation had already been done, yet the FBI did NOTHING about it.

Reno’s Mortgage Fraudster Richard Vaughan, formally of Wells Fargo, is a simple, undereducated, preaching buffoon. He is half a baby step away from the homeless people who babble to themselves in the street. He may well be insane, it's hard to tell without seeing him in person. Just stop. Stop embarrassing yourself and go away. Far away. Far away where the terrorist landlords and second home rider fraudsters run free and loan officers illegally make-up loan applications and area managers fire honest loan officers and chase butterflies in fields of sunflowers. Go be with the terrorist loan officers and second home rider fraudsters, Reno’s Mortgage Fraudster Richard Vaughan, formally of Wells Fargo. Let them pet your head and tell you the truth. Now go Reno’s Mortgage Fraudster Richard Vaughan, formally of Wells Fargo, be free, be with your people. Run along sweet cheeks, run along. Good boy, good....
“Reno’s Mortgage Fraudster Richard Vaughan, formally of Wells Fargo, you lookin' at me? You look' at me? Are you lookin' at me?" It's awesome. Not only is he dumb dumb, he’s totally looped Reno’s Mortgage Fraudster Richard Vaughan, formally of Wells Fargo, you can't hide what you are and what you do. You are a sanctimonious psycho bitch. I think Bristol Palin’s retarded fetus is more qualified to be human or a loan officer than Reno’s Mortgage Fraudster Richard Vaughan, formally of Wells Fargo is. Prudential Nevada Realty’s Keith W. Gledhill Mortgage Fraudster, are you trying to out-stupid yourself?! If so, mission accomplished boy! Go treat yourself to a Nazi pie! Reno’s Mortgage Fraudster Richard Vaughan, formally of Wells Fargo, if you send me a postage pre-paid 3 x 3 x 3 box, I'll mail you the ***** Eleanor and Gertrude produced on your fraudulent second home loan applications and fraudulent home loan applications. - reddcell, on 02/23/2008, -0/+1Except rent an apartment.
- lazlotlomax, on 08/29/2009, -0/+1I could give you story after story like this. 95% of all realtors in my opinion are either crooks or incompetent idiots. Iver personally seen dozens of different realtors screwing somebody over with their dumb contracts, or lack of knowledge. I finally had to write a report about it so people could be educated. http://bit.ly/euWVJ
