Company gaming Google search results earns $2 million
businessshrink.biz — Online reputation management is a booming business and reports from a leader in the industry claims they've made $2 million removing references in Google's index. An old term with new tricks is being dubbed, "Googlewashing." Similar techniques are labeled as Google bombing. The job? Removing unwanted entries in search engine results. Cat and mouse.

- Analysis1, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3At times, Google's search engine has been so gamed as to be almost unusable. I have switched back and forth between Yahoo and Google over the years. Yahoo receives less attention from the gamers, but Google has infinitely more money for search engine research, so which one is better changes over time.

- webaddict, on 02/29/2008, -0/+5What's even crazier is most of the companies are advertising their Google gaming services on Google adwords under terms like, "reputation", "online reputation management", "remove negative", "remove listings" and a whole lot more. So Google is making money off of companies gaming their search results by letting them advertise on Adwords all while the profits are funneled back into the advertising. Not saying Google is actually aware of this but it is almost comical.
- ThemUser, on 02/29/2008, -0/+2But if Google is making money off of the adwords I doubt they will put the kibosh on it until there is a public outcry! Anyone know why http://www.askTheAdmin.com got banned from Digg?
