- inactive, on 07/01/2008, -0/+9Starbucks coffee has twice as much caffiene as any other coffee? Wow.
- igothugeguns, on 07/01/2008, -0/+6Wait, Companies put addictive things in their products to make people buy them more?
- richardhammond, on 07/01/2008, -1/+7For the most part I agree, but completely unregulated capitalism can be really dangerous.
- suxmonkey, on 07/02/2008, -0/+5Has anyone ... and I mean anyone ... noticed that this story is sitting literally right under a story about how StarBucks just had to shut down 300 stores? I mean, come ON
- AmyVernon, on 07/01/2008, -1/+3tons of calories in all their special drinks, too.
- arlok789, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Dude... What?
- rdmillar, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Anyone who believes any system is inherently perfect, is a fool.
- arlok789, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2I'd say that's more a function of starbucks expanding too fast when the economy was good than their business model or the economy sucking.
- mmalecki, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1FTA:
"Sales of cheap goods are not as heavily affected by a poorly performing economy. A consumer is more likely to forgo the new car or computer than a measly cup of coffee"
I'm with skankin231 on this one. - MCA2142, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1The article features an interesting comparison between two products, Coffee and Cars in the time of slowing economy.
While it maybe far worse to make a wrong purchase with a car then a cup of coffee, the author fails to see a key point in today's economy. Today's economic crisis is effected largely by rising oil prices. And the coffee supplier in everyone's minds today is Starbucks since they just announced that they are closing 600 stores.
So the point is this: When a cup of coffee at starbucks costs more than a gallon of fuel in today's market, people think twice before sippin' that mocha. These days, I am comparing every small purchase with the price of a gallon of gas. - shutaro, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1What in God's holy name are you blathering about?
- richardhammond, on 07/01/2008, -2/+3Last I checked, Calories are not a known addictive substance.
- SOS84, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Anyone who dedicated their life to a inherently flawed system is a fool.
- com2, on 07/07/2008, -0/+1Coke is so yesterday, redbull is so today.
- JQP123, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Completely unregulated capitalism is virtually non-existent in modern society. Even if it did exist, history suggests that it wouldn't be anywhere near as dangerous as completely regulated communism.
- MCA2142, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Wat chu talkin' bout willis?
- funk13, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1"What's the matter with this thing? What's all that churning and bubbling? You call that a radar screen."
"No, sir. We call it, 'Mr. Coffee.' Care for some?"
"Yes! I always have coffee when I watch radar. You know that."
seriously, though, i didn't even read the article - i probably won't - but this is what i thought of from the title. - clemsontiger, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1Very true about starbucks. There were three within about a mile. Now only one.
- OwdenBowden, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1They also ~Drink Coke~ use ~Drink Coke~ other ~Drink Coke~ means to ~Drink Coke~ get the ~Drink Coke~ consumers to ~Drink Coke~ buy what ~Drink Coke~ they are ~Drink Coke~ selling. I think ~Drink Coke~ there is a ~Drink Coke~ term for this type ~Drink Coke~ of marketing but I am not ~Drink Coke~ really sure; Let me ~Drink Coke~ know because I am just about to ~Drink Coke~ head out and grab a Coke.

- Fleagleman, on 07/02/2008, -0/+0Seeing as this really has nothing to do with Star Wars at all, do any of us think that this had any chance at all of making the Digg front page without it?
- inactive, on 07/01/2008, -2/+1Really cool!!!
- skankin231, on 07/01/2008, -3/+2This idiot doesn't know what he's talking about. But I still digged the story anyway.

What is Digg?
