Coca-Cola celebrates Ramadan...

- ihateusernames3, on 08/20/2008, -11/+14I especially like the obligatory "Coca-Cola has not responded to WND's request for comment." Seriously guys? You put that in almost every article, because guess what - nobody wants to give an interview to some far-right wing 'news' site.
BTW, this packaging isnt even going to be seen in the US or Western European countries. They are only using these cans in Islamic countries. - FaithAlone, on 08/20/2008, -12/+15you don't think that these cans WON"T show up here soon?!! you're crazy like the rest of the liberals are! have you seen a cross on a can of coke here in the usa? no! because the liberals would throw a temper-tantrum and cry about the freedom of speech being violated!
- Coven, on 08/20/2008, -4/+14we don't see a cross on the cans, but we certainly see Santa on them every winter. Oddly enough, WND calls Santa a "secular" image. Santa is an image of Saint Nicholas, a CHRISTIAN saint.
Secular my ass.- straybullett357, on 08/20/2008, -9/+2Oh come on Coven don't tell me you hate Santa too?
- dx74a19, on 08/20/2008, -4/+9I hate Santa. An old fat man dressed in red playing with kids is very suspicious to me, call me paranoid.
- lajaw, on 08/21/2008, -13/+1Little do you know. Every born again person is a "saint". Don't know anything about saint nicholas, because calling anyone "saint" as a name implies Catholicism. And that ain't necessarily christian.
- Coven, on 08/21/2008, -0/+12Ah, I see. So it has to be your special brand of Christianity or it doesn't count at all.
- Phyraxus, on 08/21/2008, -1/+9"***** YOU, Catholics aren't christian because they DO believe in Christ!!"
LOL
- StaticThunder, on 08/21/2008, -2/+12"because the liberals would throw a temper-tantrum"
Sure, conservatives never throw temper tantrums like when McDonalds gave money to a pro-homosexual organization. - ThoughtfulWi, on 08/21/2008, -2/+5Wouldn't a cross on a can of coke be kind of sacrilegious? Tacky fundies!

- Temlakos, on 08/20/2008, -5/+13Coke has just made its stupidest decision since New Coke. Muslims won't drink Coca-Cola anyway, first because it's American and second because it's caffeinated and therefore a "strong drink." And this American certainly will not drink Coca-Cola--anymore.
- sullly, on 08/21/2008, -0/+5New Coke might not have been so stupid- it was a publicity stunt to clear people's memory of the older, better sugar-sweetened stuff and trick them into accepting the new "Coke Classic" sweetened with cheap, inferior high fructose corn syrup. It was very smart marketing on Coca Cola's part. They knew everyone would hate the "New Coke" and come back screaming for the "Coke Classic."
Don't Muslims drink coffee ("stronger" than Coke)? - GlobalRoamer, on 09/05/2008, -0/+5As one who just spent a year there I can tell they do drink it and they do in abundance. They are in violation of the Quran, but that doesn't seem to matter.
Besides the Muslims use Ramadan as an excuse to party. I saw a cartoon in the Arab News that showed a man in a thobe with an wheelbarrow full of food preparing for Ramadan. In the second panel the same man had an empty wheelbarrow but was lying in it, full. You see it was Eid or the breaking of Ramadan.
I can't count how many festivals I was invited to attend as the breaking of the Ramadan fast. These were lascivious feasts. No wonder they weigh more after Ramadan. - GlobalRoamer, on 09/05/2008, -1/+0Sully, you ought to try their "Turkish" coffee. It has so much caffeine you can actually feel your hair grow.
Stoning: Your Bible commands that some people be stoned for certain crimes too, remember?
Terror: There are Christian terrorists too, or have you forgotten about Northern Ireland?
Rape: Plenty of that in your Bible, and in the wake of Christian armies (Crusades, anyone?)
Pedophilia: Two words: Catholic Priests
Following a Madman: ...and someone claiming to be the son of a god isn't a madman?

Coke used to be owned by the Mormons, but they sold it many moons ago. This is the very reason why Coke has gone to embracing every lunatic fringe organization out there- simply because they are no longer owned by the Mormons.
The Mormons may not be your cup of tea, but the last time I checked, Salt Lake doesn't condone cutting off the heads of infidels like Mecca & Medina do.
And don't go down that road about their polygamy, that was, and is, practiced by most religions. Pedophilia problems in the Catholic Church is an outrage, but Jim Jones of Guyana also took his Christians off the cliff to their deaths by drinking cyanide laced Kool-aid. So they all have their grief, but this one can't be laid at the feet of the Mormons.- SOLGAARD, on 08/20/2008, -11/+6thx 4 the heads-up regarding ownership-
My distaste for Mormon theology, stems from they're ignorance of Yahshua's command to follow no other gospel.
Mormon's believe one day, they too can rule as Lord.
Yahshua's brother is Satan.
That's fecal-debris, (i don't care about another man's wives).
i just hate lies - Coven, on 08/20/2008, -5/+11a religion of 1.5 billion people does not equate to "lunatic fringe organization".

Pagan? They worship the SAME god you do. The god of Abraham. Yahweh, Jehovah, Allah, they are all the same god. - straybullett357, on 08/20/2008, -8/+6Coven--They do not worship the same God and all your crying out about it will not change that. You ask a Muslim--> is Jesus the Son of God and is He part of the Trinity and let me know what they said, okie dokie?
- PappyPapillon, on 08/20/2008, -8/+4A lie doesn't become truth just because a large number of people fall for it.
- kayala, on 08/21/2008, -4/+9Ah, Pappy, so you acknowledge that Christianity is a lie that is not validated by the sheer numbers of people who have fallen for its deception?
You hypocrites are amazing sometimes. - PappyPapillon, on 08/21/2008, -5/+3No, kayala, in the same way that a lie does not become truth purely by the number of people who fall for it, truth does not not become a lie simply because a large number of people dismiss it as truth.
The Christian faith is based solely on the resurrection of Jesus being a historical fact. Disprove the resurrection and you'll have, as Paul states in his letter to the Corinthians, shown us Christians to be of all men most miserable and deserving of pity. Good luck. - kayala, on 08/22/2008, -1/+6Oh, believe me, you're already miserable little freaks who are highly deserving of pity because you live in sealed little microcosms where reality is not an option. I'm afraid that you, dear, are the one who's going to have to prove the resurrection. It's pretty historically difficult to say that a person absolutely did not do something two thousand years ago; however, if someone really did rise from the dead, it should be apparent in more places than a book written decades, even centuries after the fact.
- starstuck, on 08/20/2008, -4/+1MarineVetren1, I am not trying to be argumentative, but, there are many links between Mormons and Muslims. There is a very good book written by Theodore Shoebat, available on God's Learning Channel in their book store. You can look them up online, GLC or check out Walid Shoebat on line. The Shoebats are a ex-Muslim family that has converted to Christianity. Their insights are amazing. I believe you can also find it on amazon.com. It is also in American history that the early Mormons did kill many Christian men and boys from wagon trains in order to have the women and girls. One of the most obvious links you will find with Mormons and Muslims is the "Peacock Angel".
- MarineVeteran1, on 08/21/2008, -3/+4Starstruck,
As well as their are links between the Muslims and Christians and Jews! Can you say, Abraham?
As all religions have their dark history, none are without chasms of lunacy. The Catholic Church is but one religion (and don't get me started with Islam) that comes to mind as one that seems to keep having historical bouts of insanity because of their propensity of their leaders to ignore and 'forgive' heinous sin. In my book, that's B.S., I don't give a damn what religion you practice. If you murder, you get the rope, simple.
If you steal, you get to pay back your theft 7 fold. If you rape, you get the rope. The rest is nothing more than administrative. Nonetheless, man cannot forgive sin, he can only commit it. It's God's realm to forgive. Martin Luther also based his rejection of Catholic tenets that no man need approval of another man to seek or to obtain the benefit of eternal life by believing in the Christ. Entire cultures are built around these ideas; albeit, variances exist. That doesn't change the obvious penchant for religion to try and garner power, because they are of man.
The soul of man is not up for sale, unless that man sells it to the highest bidder. It matters not who the winning bidder is if you choose one evil over another.
It is the righteous man I seek alliance with, regardless of the symbol he wears around his neck.
That is the man I can trust and live with, because we as men, possess a desire to live with a rational self-interest in mind, that being the pursuit of happiness and liberty for all.
That is what my founding fathers set into motion, and that is what I aim to preserve. - starstuck, on 08/21/2008, -3/+2MarineVeteran1, thank you for taking the time to reply, I can see that we are from two different points of view but because we live in this wonderful country we are allowed to form our own belief, speak our mind and not be shot or beheaded. - quest4justice, on 08/20/2008, -5/+4to Linuxdad- I have been reading the old testament and found all of these symbols clearly there as well, including beheading and cutting the limbs of criminals (2Samuel 4:12). I read the Qur'an and found no reference to beheading. Would I believe you or believe what I read? Do you have a reference of beheading from the Qur'an?
- Adelyn123, on 08/20/2008, -4/+7Hey Quest - so you speak Arabic? Or were you reading the English versions? Wow you are so gullible! Hey - I got this bridge I'll sell you - real cheap!
Either case the Quran does reference beheading, I may not be a rocket scientist but last time I checked, “beheading” is the same as “Strike off their heads” or "Smite their necks" – just not that exact words:
Qur'an 8:12 “Your Lord inspired the angels with the message: ‘I am with you. Give firmness to the Believers. I will terrorize the unbelievers. Therefore smite them on their necks and every joint and incapacitate them. Strike off their heads and cut off each of their fingers and toes.”
Qur'an 47:4 “So, when you clash with the unbelieving Infidels in battle, fighting Jihad in Allah's Cause, smite their necks until you overpower them, killing and wounding many of them. At length, when you have thoroughly subdued them, bind them firmly, making (them) captives. Thereafter either generosity or ransom (them based upon what benefits Islam) until the war lays down its burdens. Thus are you commanded by Allah to continue carrying out Jihad against the unbelieving infidels until they submit to Islam.”
I could go on….- rjwusa, on 08/20/2008, -6/+4I hear crickets. Uh, quest4justice? Response?

- quest4justice, on 08/21/2008, -1/+3Adelyn can you tell me more about the bridge? Your response in addition to Carpenterdale are obiously instructions to sodiers in the battle field when meeting the enemy. If the only thing you have is a sword, how would you kill your enemy? Let us be fair and review the rules of engament for our brave soldiers and marines in Iraq and Afghanistan. They have orders to shoot to kill and use maximum firepower until the threst is gone and this are orders from the greatest democracy in the 21st century. How different it is from these instructions that you both disagree with. Similar instructions are throughout the Bible when meeting the enemy and is found as early as Exodus 17:13. Thanks to both of you.

- GlobalRoamer, on 09/05/2008, -1/+0I read the Quran twice. I think you are right. I did count 98 times the word "kill" as in kill infidels, or kill apostates. But no, I don't recall beheading. I think the holy scripture left that up to the reader. Now Mohammad was known and Islam history holds that he beheaded 7,000 in his lifetime. Maybe that is what he is thinking of?

http://www.smartspot.com/files/1-5-1_productlist.p ... - kayala, on 08/21/2008, -1/+4I'll laugh uproariously when you discover that PepsiCo isn't an exclusively Christian company.
- ThoughtfulWi, on 08/21/2008, -2/+6Not at all, mes amis. Zey are just a bit behind le coke on ze diversity index. Silly Fundies!http://www.business-humanrights.org/Categories/Ind ...
- GlobalRoamer, on 09/05/2008, -6/+2Kaya, there you go again displaying your stupidity. You forget. It's Christianity that tolerates all religions. It's Islam that thinks all non believers are infidels and should be killed. At least you should get your facts straight.
- GlobalRoamer, on 09/05/2008, -5/+1Kayala, "Confusion now hath made his masterpiece." -- Macbeth
- kayala, on 08/22/2008, -1/+3It's Kayala. And is it true that Christianity tolerates all religions when the only xenophobic bigots I see around here are devout Jesus freaks? Or do you merely grit your teeth and tolerate the presence of brown men and strange ideas, refusing to give it any more room than a few square inches on the threshold?
I also challenge you to back up your assertion that Islam "thinks all non believers are infidels and should be killed." Bear in mind that Sharia law, which is law based on the Quran, recognizes "people of the book," that is, Jews and Christians, as well as those of other faiths or non-faiths. Also bear in mind that only in the imaginations of the lazy and poorly-informed that all Muslims are evil men with swords and a holy crusade to fight. You might be surprised to learn that just like all Christians aren't ***** ignorant assholes, not all Muslims have bombs strapped to them. ***** idiot.
- pandasm, on 08/21/2008, -2/+1Thanks, but I'll be drinking these instead:
- nmclassyone, on 08/21/2008, -5/+1Thanks for the heads up with the contact information. I just told them to get back to being the "real thing" and to apologize to America so we can get back to what we do best--spend money with them.
- kayala, on 08/21/2008, -1/+6Just in case you forget which products are Coke products:
- KCLorelei39, on 08/20/2008, -2/+3um, I don't care one way or another, really. This is just more marketing that serves to blur lines of distinction and blend all religions into one....The Islamic symbol is *nothing*. Santa Claus/St Nick is *nothing*. The star of David is *nothing*. The Menorah is *nothing* in and of itself. Even the fish wars are *nothing*, at the end of the day...even the symbol of the cross isn't where the power of God lies, but is only a reminder of how great that power is.
God cannot be adequately represented by any one symbol. I know to Whom I belong. My relationship with Him isn't made invalid by drinking soda from a can with a symbol of *nothing* printed upon it.- GlobalRoamer, on 09/05/2008, -1/+0Outstanding. You said it perfectly.
- PappyPapillon, on 08/20/2008, -4/+2Never liked Coca-Cola myself. Always preferred Pepsi. But I'll make sure to avoid any and all products manufactured by Coco-Cola.
P.S. I don't drink Pepsi or any other soda anymore due to it being bad for your health. And I am determined to live forever or die trying. - rjwusa, on 08/20/2008, -8/+3I encourage all Muslims to drink several Coca-Colas a day. Hopefully, all that wonderful high fructose corn syrup will give them diabetes and they'll all suffer for it. Now, that's chemical warfare!
- ThoughtfulWi, on 08/21/2008, -0/+5RJW: Have you read about the fruits of the spirit in the New Testament?
- straybullett357, on 08/20/2008, -5/+3
The thing that concerns me the most, is that since 9/11 how much everyone tries to accommodate the Moslem faith as if it is somehow worthy of special treatment. I sure hope everyone is ready to be buying their prayer mats from Wal Mart because this indoctrination into the "religion of peace" is spreading throughout Europe and has already started here. Who would have thought that in less than 7 years after the Mohammedans killed almost 3,000 of our citizens an American company is now trying to engage these very enemies of our existence. Where is your HEAD coke?- nmclassyone, on 08/21/2008, -4/+1Up their greedy arses...that's where.
- notbysight, on 08/21/2008, -3/+1Dhimi-nishing returns...from loyal customers, .&..profits.
- tejanarana, on 08/21/2008, -2/+4"Lets see, its a symbol of what Islam stands for: Beheading, Stoning, Terror, Rape, Pedophilia, following a Madman . . ."
Let's see, the cross has been a symbol of, oh, the Crusades. The Star of David has been a symbol of, oh, the crucifixion of Christ.
Geesh, people, get over it. Islam, no matter what, is a religion. The United States Of America is a place for religious freedom, including some ridiculous design on the side of a can. GET OVER IT!!!!!!!!!- farmerjohn48pan, on 08/21/2008, -6/+1How will you phrase your clever reply when Islam tells you to convert or die?
- ThoughtfulWi, on 08/22/2008, -0/+7I'll tell them to have a coke and a smile.
- Evilena, on 08/22/2008, -1/+6If some religious freak threatened my life, I would save my reply until whoever said that to me was on the floor bleeding to death. The last thing they would hear is me saying something like 'Go tell Allah you failed'
- StaticThunder, on 08/22/2008, -0/+6ThoughtfulWi is correct. The best reply is to subvert Islam and make it into a bunch of fat lazy television addicted slobs like us.
- farmerjohn48pan, on 08/22/2008, -2/+2ThoughtfulWi: Funny!
StaticThunder: Funny!
Evilena: Disturbed, violent, and unrealistic! - Evilena, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2Violent, yes
Disturbed, perhaps
Unrealistic, you don't know me well enough. Surely its not hard for you to imagine that an evil sadistic bitch like me spends lot of my free time practicing these things. Someday when I get caught up on other projects I am working on, I will make some martial arts videos and dragon chain whip videos. Sharia law in South Florida is unrealistic, but if it happens I will be far better off than most.
- bluto36, on 08/21/2008, -4/+1"Lets see, its a symbol of what Islam stands for: Beheading, Stoning, Terror, Rape, Pedophilia, following a Madman . . ."
correct and all this happened when? last week?
"Let's see, the cross has been a symbol of, oh, the Crusades. The Star of David has been a symbol of, oh, the crucifixion of Christ."
correct and when did this happen?
- farmerjohn48pan, on 08/21/2008, -6/+1How will you phrase your clever reply when Islam tells you to convert or die?
- pilgrim2497, on 08/21/2008, -3/+1If America is to survive, the battle cry of a new generation must be, DIVERSITY BE DAMNED!!
Concerning the seeping darkness that Islam represents in America; ordinary citizens must be willing to do more than post comments. Our boys are fighting the Islamists in Iraq and Afghanistan; there are plenty of them for us to fight at home if we are willing---or will we go the way of Europe and cow before these barbarians?
I write this knowing that there are many in America who so hate the true and living God of the Bible, that they would defend and empathize with Islam as "revenge" against the light---much of Obama's most enthusiastic support comes from people who hate Jesus Christ. - ThoughtfulWi, on 08/21/2008, -0/+5I've been boycotting coke ever since I decided Jack Daniels tasted better without it.
- farmerjohn48pan, on 08/21/2008, -0/+7Good man, there is only one way to drink it, neat.
- capitaino, on 08/21/2008, -0/+3This comment outta spark your bomb vest!
Coca Cola is no governmental entity.
This is free enterprise at work.
It's my guess many Muslims drink soda.
Marketing strategy is designed to create revenue.
Would we complain if the can displayed the Boy Scout fluer de lis?
Before you get your panties in a bunch, I’m not a Muslim lover or hater.
But just because some are terrorists doesn’t mean we should poison them all with Aspertame. - pilgrim2497, on 08/21/2008, -4/+0Capitaino---Don't dis the Boy Scouts, and take down that picture of Barney Frank over your bed.
- capitaino, on 08/21/2008, -0/+5I am [was] a Boy Scout. Order of the Arrow and a matter of fact.
BTW - I said, fluer de lis, not rainbow.
- capitaino, on 08/21/2008, -0/+5I am [was] a Boy Scout. Order of the Arrow and a matter of fact.
- Ruler4you, on 08/21/2008, -3/+2It would have been my preference to see companies keep religion OUT of their sales and marketing rhetoric. Coke wouldn't do this for Christianity had it not been for the temptation of the Islamic market and Halal foods. I've just had my last coke product. Good luck in your new market. I hope it serves you well.
- capitaino, on 08/21/2008, -0/+3In their defense, I heard no protest over the wreath they depicted last December.
- kayala, on 08/21/2008, -3/+4And these Christian assholes prove that their hatred extends not just to people of other sexual orientations, but of other races and religions as well. What an insular little cult they have.
- farmerjohn48pan, on 08/21/2008, -4/+1And what a sad little bigot you are!
- kayala, on 08/22/2008, -1/+3If it makes you feel better to call me a bigot despite the fact that I respect human rights and you do not, then by all means continue to do so. The more intelligent among us will spot you as a liar and a hypocrite, and the more easily led on will believe that you are some sort of brilliant leader, a blind man to lead the blind.
Don't you have a KKK meeting, or an abortion clinic to harass?
- kayala, on 08/22/2008, -1/+3If it makes you feel better to call me a bigot despite the fact that I respect human rights and you do not, then by all means continue to do so. The more intelligent among us will spot you as a liar and a hypocrite, and the more easily led on will believe that you are some sort of brilliant leader, a blind man to lead the blind.
- GlobalRoamer, on 09/05/2008, -6/+0Remember if you are Muslim you must kill homosexuals. If you are Muslim you must kill infidels. That is what Mohammad did. Who did Jesus kill? Oh, NO ONE!
- kayala, on 08/22/2008, -0/+3Well, then I suppose about 98% of the Muslim population isn't really Muslim, huh?
- Evilena, on 08/22/2008, -1/+3"Who did Jesus kill?" Just as many as every other fictional character.
- ThoughtfulWi, on 08/22/2008, -0/+5Well, at least 2%. So many are unaware that there are gay and lesbian muslims, feminist Muslims, liberal Muslims, Jack Muslims... in otherwords, the same basic divisions which occur in any religion. One of the biggest favors we do for the fanatics and terrorists is to link all Muslims together as fanatics and terrorists, thus silencing the voices of reason in Islam, who are caught between a rock and a hard place. Bigots awake! Muslims have immigrated to America for the same reasons everybody else did, to have a better life. And yes, they want to practice their religion, so what? As long as they don't attempt to impose their beliefs on those who don't want them, they are within reason and the law. The world is getting smaller. The world is changing rapidly due to technology. Deal with it rationally, not with hysteria. Changes occuring rapidly through advances in communication, information and transportation technology, do not need to lead anyone to believe the sky is falling. So grow up and face the world. We're never going back to 1950.
- farmerjohn48pan, on 08/21/2008, -4/+1And what a sad little bigot you are!
- GlobalRoamer, on 09/05/2008, -6/+0And don't forget that nasty, age old Christian argument. Jesus NEVER killed anyone. Mohammad, your deity, killed over 7,000.
- Coven, on 08/22/2008, -1/+5Mohammed was a prophet, not a deity.
- ApokalypseNow, on 08/22/2008, -2/+4Um, according to your "trinity" philosophy, your jesus IS your god, and between the floods and the smiting and other killings, I think his body count is pretty high.
- GlobalRoamer, on 09/05/2008, -4/+0There is a story out that Islam is a derivative of a moon worshiping sect. Their god, allallah, was in fact the moon. They celebrated the cycles of the moon just like our Muslim brothers, they put the crescent moon on their temples, just like our Muslim brothers. Look it up on the internet before replying.
- osko2052, on 08/22/2008, -1/+1Better yet, drink a tall cold glass of milk.
- ThoughtfulWi, on 08/22/2008, -0/+2Better yet, a nice generous glass of Cotes Du Rhone.
- pilgrim2497, on 08/22/2008, -3/+1Kayala---You boast of being one of the intelligent among us, but the nonsense you write proves you are just a reactionary little twit.
You didn't have the intellectual capacity to even chat with your soul-mates at DailyKos, so you hang around conservative websites trying to get some perverse kind of attention. Move out of your grandmothers basement and get a job you pathetic little doofus.- kayala, on 08/22/2008, -0/+1pilgrim, there's this wonderful little button called the "reply" button. Do you know what it does, foolish Christian? It posts what's called a "reply" to another post.
You might also want to look up what a reactionary is. Reactionaries want to go back to a time in the past; I have no such desire. Idiot. Go back to church with the rest of your reality-denying little friends, Christian freak.
