- YossarianDent, on 10/12/2007, -6/+23How about I sue them for all the unsolicited marketing text messages they send me?
...Somehow I don't think that would work, but I try to live in a fantasy world as much as possible. - dmurray14, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Good for them, makes me happy to be a Cingular customer.
- mcgarry83, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10messages from your own provider do not cost you and are for information purpose only. (ex. to inform you of new services or products)
- macdaddy23, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Maybe I'll stop getting those damn spanish phone calls!!!
- rarkai, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7You can opt out of those.
- VicHislop, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Cingular's motivation is definitely not altrusitic. How can some of you be that naive? The end result can be cheered, definitely. But please don't cheer them for acting out in an effort to balance the incredible bad press this company has received over the recent past. For one, the article says they're seeking damages. For what?
I'm not defending telemarketers at all, but Cingular certainly wasn't inconvenienced in any of this. Do you think they're going to pass on those damages as savings to their customers? Do you think they're going to refund some minutes back to customers? Absolutely not. This is merely a lawsuit reported by Cingular to the press for coverage.
Cingular will continue their antiquated billing practices and will continue to offer the least valued price plans of the major carriers. They have no reason to change. - author20, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3When a scumbag company does something that is right, I suspect an alterior motive.
Perhaps they smell a growing consumer backlash, especially in light of horrible customer service, AT&T bait and switch law suit and being publicly humiliated by the latest sprint commercial. Or perhaps they know that wireless will be offered by cable companies at a nickle a minute.
In this commecial, the sprint fast gun slaps and out-draws the cingular cowbow. - kaje, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4It tells you right in those messages how to stop them by texting...get this...the word stop to a 5 digit number provided. Your problem for not doing it.
- OaklandNative, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2In the meantime, register at the National Do Not Call Registry
donotcall.gov/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Now if i could only block certian #'s on my phone rather than cingular telling me " you can change your #" its crazy, they give you the option to make your call show up as private, but, then, no way to block private calls.
- eggo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3ads? what are those?
- handeyman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2This is awsome, I have received so many calls from telemarketers I am glad cingular is trying to prevent this.
- MorningCoder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thank you AT&T. I wanted to hurt those mother f***ers so bad...They always call me when I was driving with burger in one hand and shifting with the other.
- DigitalPimptres, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Isn't that only for land line phones? Cell phones are technically not supposed to be allowed on any call list.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I kept on getting these stupid calls too, and would call them back, hence wasting my minutes...by that I mean a total of 10 mins tops lol
But yeah I'm going to call them anyway and complain - LanceHardenburg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"How about I sue them for all the unsolicited marketing text messages they send me?"
As previously stated, those text messages are free. Hence the title when you receive the message, Cingular Free Message. Also, if you feel burdoned by cingular trying to inform you of features you may enjoy, you can reply saying Stop to them and the messages will cease to be sent to you.
But yeah, go ahead and sue... - zigamorph, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Verizon Wireless doesn't seem to have this problem of getting telemarketer calls or text messages. I wonder if somebody in the company is selling this information?
- Kiel, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5Is it too tin foil hat to think that what they really want if to charge the telemarketers a fee to let them make calls to their customers?
- yves, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I believe that this is good mainly b/c it will probably stop others from making these calls (at least for a little while)
- tcardone05, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1didn't AT&T buy bellsouth?
- zigamorph, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4I was wondering when this was going to happen. Cell users are charged by the min which for every min they have to put up with a telemarketer means they are paying for it. Unlike the current model of land lines. Where you get unlimited mins for the whole month with one fee.
Gladd to see they are doing the right thing. - gnomon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Republican Robo Calls
Let a Republican owned firm make your automated phone calls.
www.GOPcalls.com" - ThunderIT, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1all the google ads i see are:
stop telemarkets
national do not call list
at&t conferencing
i think google is doing a fine job
you might have gotten to this page when it was brand new, and google hadn't had a change to crawl it yet, to update the ads
but as soon as google was the page getting some diggs, they crawled it and made the ads contextual, they can't make the ads contextual on every new page until they crawl it, and if the page doesn't have enough traffic, google won't crawl it right away. - LordSkywalker, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2@mcgarry83: ***** that. Thats called spam. I don't want any ***** spam on email, let alone my cell phone.
- hodyoaten, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0Good thing the telcos are doing it... it's impossible for the little guy to take legal action against "OUT OF AREA".
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1So...Google Ads are supposed to be so great, so well tailored to a web site, right?
So why is EVERY ad one this page relating to bankruptcy?
No wonder why Google custoemrs are starting to get pissed. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+2Yeah it is. And your parents should be ashamed of the horrible job they did in raising you. They failed miserably at preparing you for the real world. I hope you don't talk to them anymore.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3miss cleo goes mobile and is striking back
