- badqat, on 10/23/2009, -1/+8I think you may be able to stick a fork in Chrysler automotive by that time too. Unless, of course, the federal dollars keep rolling in, that is. If they do, then shucks by golly, they'll still be operational.
- dpowre, on 10/23/2009, -0/+7why would you buy a PT cruiser...?
- marson, on 10/23/2009, -1/+6A TP Cruiser? Come on man, horrible example. You never realized you were buying a more expensive version of a Cheap-POS Dodge Neon with a half-assed, ugly-ass retro-wannabe body plopped on top of it? What the hell were you thinking? The engineers were probably deaf & mute, but you sir were blind.
I've owned three solid, reliable Chryslers in my lifetime. They aren't all crap. Some certainly are. - wifirewire3, on 10/23/2009, -2/+6Chrysler is crap, it's about time. I've only owned 1 (PT Cruiser) and I swear the engineer who designed it was a deaf mute.
- yeeaauuh, on 10/23/2009, -1/+5How much worse does it have to get before it gets any better?
- emjaymj, on 10/23/2009, -0/+4By liquidating they will have to sell your debt to another entity, there's no way they're going to absolve you of your debt, because it still has value. Some of these third-party companies whose business is buying up debt are unbelievably aggressive in collecting so there's a possibility it will make things worse.
- datatribe, on 10/23/2009, -0/+3When our federal government picks the winners and losers in what used to be a free market, politics will ultimately come to bear. Chrysler was gutted by a partisan and highly selective closing of dealers in the network and now the Treasury Department is calling the shots. Welcome to Soviet America.
- Vector713, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2Hmmm... my auto loan is financed through Chrysler Financial... my payoff date is beyond 2011, so I wonder if this means they'll have to remain an institution until all current contracts are paid off, or will my loan be sold off to some other company?
- inajeep, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2They stopped doing leases over a year ago. No surprise to me.
- wrestlingnrj, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2I'm in the same boat as you; maybe we'll luck out and won't have to pay anymore after 2011. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
- Vector713, on 10/23/2009, -0/+2That would be pretty wonderful. Best of luck to both of us! haha.
- CaptTu, on 10/23/2009, -0/+1This comes as no surprise... Cerberus... which owns Chrysler Financial... has been shutting doors and laying folks ( most of whom got '0' in the way of compensation ) all over the country for months.
- Vector713, on 10/23/2009, -0/+1Yeah, I figured the debt would be transferred as a part of the liquidation. Money owed never just disappears in situations like this. I'm curious to see where things will end up.
- jlawson1, on 10/23/2009, -0/+1Crap this does me no good, my car pays off before then!!!!
- numberneal, on 10/23/2009, -1/+1round up the dogs; you don't want them to get bit by the starving
- wifirewire3, on 10/23/2009, -2/+2For the record, it was my wife's car I inherited. Myself being of non-blind status, I would never willingly own a chrysler. The engine sounded like marbles were inside it once it reached 100K. To replace the battery I have to remove 3 components just to SEE the battery, and I'm not even going to describe what it's like to change the oil.
And yes, I can judge an entire car company by one of it's brands, especially when said company manages to run itself into the ground with horrible business practices. ***** rolls downhill, and it's evident in the final product. - shawnubis, on 10/23/2009, -1/+0Check out the ties between Cerberus Capital Management, GMAC, Chrysler, and how much money the gov't dumped into the big 3. The governement "loaned" them over $5 billion. Nobody is mentioning how or when that money is getting paid back. lol.
Cerberus is known for buying out companies and turning them around. They now own GMAC and Most of Chrysler. Sitting on board with Cerebus' gang are Dan Quayle, Former U.S. Treasurey Crook John Snow. More here: cerebus%20stuff - inajeep, on 10/23/2009, -3/+2Hmmm, judging an entire automotive company by the PT Cruiser is like judging the Godfather series by the III.
Not to mention this is the financial arm and had nothing to do with cars other than loans. - wifirewire3, on 10/23/2009, -3/+1For the record, it was my wife's car I inherited.
