- immatellyouwhat, on 04/29/2009, -1/+46If they call it Toylet Paper they can.
- Lucas123, on 04/29/2009, -1/+34Is Toys "R" Us becoming the Wal-Mart of toy stores?
- badenglishihave, on 04/29/2009, -6/+31Toys R Us is outdated because kids today who are 4+ years old only play with computers and video game consoles.
- SkippyDoorknob, on 04/29/2009, -0/+24Wal-Mart is the Wal-Mart of toy stores. Toys R Us is barely surviving.
- bobjohn12, on 04/29/2009, -0/+21They have video games at Toys R us....
- Scr4tchFury, on 04/29/2009, -1/+21When do we get an adult toy section?
- sockpuppets, on 04/29/2009, -1/+13"I don't have kids, but in this tight economy the first thing I would sacrifice is my kids interest so I can continue paying for my own."
Classy guy. You should stay a kleenex jockey. - Beson669, on 04/29/2009, -4/+16People still shop at Toys "R" Us?
- javiero, on 04/29/2009, -0/+12well there, you dont have kids. Logic just doesnt apply when you do and they put a cute face asking for a specific toy or you see them having fun with someone elses
- humanerror, on 04/29/2009, -0/+9Dude, you're not supposed to eat it.
- kate0spencer, on 04/29/2009, -2/+10seconded!
my 4 yr old nephew.. can play DOTA (World of Warcraft).. and could even get monster kill! - offrdbandit, on 04/29/2009, -2/+9That's not true at all.
Many kids are completely uninterested in computers and video games. Back in the day, I thought Super Mario Bros was amazing because *I* could make Mario move on the TV. I could push a button and Mario would jump. Wow!
I think more kids these days lack that kind of fascination with computers (of all kinds). A while back, my brother was complaining one of his games was very difficult to control with a Wiimote, preferring to play with a game pad. There's obviously nothing wrong with that, and in fact there are very good reasons one might prefer a game pad over the waggle-stick, but to him the motion capture capabilities of the Wii are nothing spectacular - it's the norm. Those of us old enough to remember the Power Glove would probably argue the Wii's performance is quite impressive. - mywhitenoise, on 04/29/2009, -0/+7who buried you?
Not only that, but they have really good deals. Lots of Buy 1 Get 1 Free deals, and I even bought Rock Band 2 Special Edition for $110 from them last November. - whatthefu, on 04/29/2009, -1/+8That's not true. A lot of them do but there are an ass-ton of toys they'll still play with. Legos, Star Wars stuff, action figures, toys from their favorite TV show etc.
- CoD4, on 04/29/2009, -0/+71 ply ftw! It's an acquired taste but boy is it great
- nutmac, on 04/29/2009, -0/+6With video games and online retailers becoming more dominant, ironically enough, TRU's toys division is perhaps the least successful in their portfolio. Babies "R" Us enjoys far better sales and profit margin, and is largely responsible for keeping TRU in the black.
- inactive, on 04/29/2009, -0/+6Could digg you up, cause your right about Toys R Us being pricey. It's been the way sense i was a kid. Their competitor used to be Playworld, but they closed their doors way back. Which is a shame because they had the same stuff, but way cheaper.
Gonna have to digg ya down for the kid comment tho. - publiclurker, on 04/29/2009, -1/+6Lego Mindstorms?
- kalvinb, on 04/29/2009, -0/+5I don't know if it ever crossed my mind that I'd rather go to Wal-Mart to shop for toys because I need to pick up other things as well. I pass on Toys R Us because they're inconvienently located and their prices aren't really that great.
- flamyngo, on 04/29/2009, -0/+5agreed.
- TheScreamer, on 04/29/2009, -0/+4Now that was cheesy.... but I dugg ya anyway :)
- WeaponAlpha, on 04/29/2009, -0/+4They are called 'Parents'.
- xeveryday, on 04/29/2009, -0/+4I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Everyone uses toilet paper, even kids do. And I think it's alright as long as the toilet paper packages have some kid stuff all over them. If you think about it, it's not a bad idea. Toys 'R' Us is a big company and they need to get bigger in this economy, so I don't see anything wrong with that. And it might encourage some kids to stop wearing diapers and start using a toilet.
- Suits, on 04/29/2009, -0/+4So long as the toilet paper 'Transforms' and or has 'Krate Chop Action!'
- Spacejack, on 04/29/2009, -0/+4Toys R Us already had their day as the Wal-Mart of toy stores, it was called the 1980s.
Actually no, I guess they were the Toys R Us of the 1980s. Wal-mart never made any attempt to stock everything under the sun, and at one time Toys R Us did. It was when they turned their back on the stocked-to-the-ceiling warehouse store that they started to suck, but I guess they were also spending a lot on inventory at the time...
It sucks in general that the toy market is in such trouble. And it really sucks that it's virtually eliminated anything but online access to all but the strongest sellers. The toy store is an important place for a kid to see a bunch of weird *****, and the oligopoly that exists today is very stifling to competition... competition that results in WEIRD *****.
Buy a small-publisher board game today! - Memnochxx, on 04/29/2009, -3/+6He sees nothing special about the wiimote because there /is/ nothing special about the wiimote, not because it's the norm (which it isn't). It's stupid and he's right to dislike it.
- crilen007, on 04/29/2009, -0/+3I tried to buy a 3D puzzle there. Nope.
And all their crap is overpriced. - FactorVIII, on 04/29/2009, -1/+4Oh great, more ***** and open food boxes to clean up after closing.
I hope to dear god my store doesn't get this. - Zomgondo, on 04/29/2009, -0/+3I'm well over 4, and I do most of my shopping for consoles and video games at Toys 'R Us. So do most of my friends. I think they're probably OK.
- HairyPoter, on 04/30/2009, -0/+2and they will change their name to Wipe R Ass
- robbob, on 04/29/2009, -0/+2Ridiculous, of course, they can sell anything they want.
...but are we going to TRU to buy it? - uberbeast1054, on 04/29/2009, -0/+2Been to one that has this setup outside Detroit.
Most of the stuff they sell is organic or "green" related. My wife loves it(My bank account doesn't). Now why they have TP and some of the household cleaners that you can buy anywhere.....I have no idea. - badenglishihave, on 04/30/2009, -0/+2I know they do, I bought my first gameboy from them. But as I recall the store was mainly other types of toys. Has that changed?
- Elranzer, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1I'm 26 and I still shop at Toys R Us regularly. And not just the video game department.
- fury420, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1umm, brutal!
- jeremymccurdy, on 04/29/2009, -1/+2Come to Toys R Us, where you can get a vibrator with kung-fu grip!
- knol, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1damn grazers
- dafragsta, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1About 6 years ago I went into a Toys R Us to get props for a goofy short film I was working on and I knew THEN that Toys R Us was not the same Toys R Us I remember from the 80s. Those places are nearly barren now. When I was a kid, Toys R Us was an onslaught of very cool impulse buys in a pretty sizable maze to even get into the store. Once you were in, they were THE place to get video games back then because they had EVERYTHING. The aisles were jam packed with toys.
When we were gathering props, we were looking for cap guns and toy rifles. Those things were nowhere to be found. - LonesomeFighter, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1i was just at one for the first time in like a decade looking for a board game and i noticed the top 3 stuff of the store were baby stuff, then this food/water bottle crap, then Barbie stuff. I didn't check those prices since i didn't want them, but since the top 2 there can be found at grocery stores as well as walmart and like every other store, i'd say toys 'r us will be gone soon
- RockSlice, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1If they want a kid-friendly image, should they really be calling their new stores "R" Market?
- PixelMagic, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1Toys R Us is having a sell on Star Trek & X-men toys this weekend. FYI.
- inactive, on 04/29/2009, -1/+2i think walmart sells more toys than them. i'm too old to buy toys but i still walk through to see if i can make anything in there into a drinking game :). its all ***** now
- Zanarkand, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1My coworker lives in Phillipsburg, NJ....they probably can do this well up there...its the nowhereville of NJ.
- qwertydvorak, on 04/30/2009, -0/+1it would be nice if they had some fukkin scotch tape. they sell wrapping paper and bows but not scotch tape. i have bought my nephew toys there and had to get tape elsewhere to be able to wrap them.
- PReitz, on 04/29/2009, -0/+1I think it's a great idea, now I have an excuse: "Toys? Me? No, I'm just here for...uhm...toilet paper"
And I just wanted to throw this out there: Where I live Toys R Us is conveniently located next to wal-mart, so I don't think location will be a factor in which one I shop at :) - immatellyouwhat, on 04/29/2009, -2/+2Be a cool kid and go to GameStop.
- immatellyouwhat, on 04/29/2009, -2/+2At least you don't have to wipe your ass when you take a *****.
- illumiknitti, on 04/30/2009, -0/+0I still don't think it'll fly, even in Phillipsburg. It may be nowhere (I used to live about fifteen minutes away, in the even more nowhereville town of Washington), but there's both a Target and a Walmart, and if I remember right, a grocery store. And it's not like the people of Phillipsburg are ready to jump up and buy overpriced groceries...
- Memnochxx, on 04/29/2009, -1/+1Yeah and people need tires and food too, should Toys R Us sell them as well?
