- wellstd1, on 11/25/2008, -9/+159Ok, before everyone goes ballistic on Bush ALL presidents do this. They shouldn't, but they do.
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -13/+88How did this make front page? Every president pardons people in their last days.
- algaeturd, on 11/25/2008, -26/+99Awesome! Cocaine users and traffickers pardoned! Takes one to know one.
- animaetaeris, on 11/25/2008, -12/+78holy crap I know one of those people- he's been trying for years to get a pardon, and I thought it'd never happen. Never thought I'd say it, but- thanks, Bush.
I need a shower now. - yourgiftsfree, on 11/25/2008, -16/+7720 diggs and on the homepage... im sorry but wtf
- MforMike, on 11/25/2008, -11/+60Bill Clinton did a very similar thing at the end of his term...
- animaetaeris, on 11/25/2008, -1/+48the company he worked for threw him under the bus rather than own up to their illegal activities. I'm really happy for him, and it makes me a little more sympathetic to the other people on the list- they might have similar situations that weren't their fault.
- HughesAP, on 11/25/2008, -9/+55Lets be serious for a sec, this is half of what Clinton and Reagan pardoned. Even if you do not like him you should still have the full facts in comparison
- DBreeze, on 11/25/2008, -3/+45barely any pardons compared to what clinton did, though bush still has many days left in office..
- MidnightRIder77, on 11/25/2008, -1/+42Every president does.
- Jeepinator, on 11/25/2008, -6/+41Because Digg clearly has an anti-Bush agenda. Not saying that is necessarily wrong, but it's undeniably true.
- djcll6122, on 11/25/2008, -6/+39taking a page out of the clinton book... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Clinton_pardons_ ... (another 126 to go)
- elipabst, on 11/25/2008, -1/+34Interesting. Thanks for the perspective.
- steve693, on 11/25/2008, -2/+29"_Robert Earl Mohon Jr. of Grant, Ala., who was convicted of conspiracy to distribute marijuana."
Finally, Bush does something useful - TrevorBelmont, on 11/25/2008, -1/+27Nice work there, Nostradamus. You accurately predicted something that every single president does.
Got any predictions as to what sport will be played at the Superbowl this year? - Zervaman, on 11/25/2008, -9/+35Err, am I the only one who thinks that the ability for a president to pardon a convicted criminal is stupid?
These people were found guilty in a court of law. They should not be able to get off "scott free" because they have some connection to the president. - hmunkey, on 11/25/2008, -3/+28I don't usually digg comments like this up, but what the hell is going on. 20 diggs is nothing when other articles with over 300 aren't on the front page.
- Coven, on 11/25/2008, -6/+29He still has 2 months to go. There will be plenty more pardons where those came from.
- fonetikly, on 11/25/2008, -6/+29Hell... The fact that Bush got a DUI and tried some drugs is one of the only things I ever liked about him. If only he wasn't such a hippocrate about it.
- elipabst, on 11/25/2008, -2/+24Did he deserve it? Some of those things on the list don't sound particularly innocent to me (like bank fraud). It'd be interesting to hear the story behind some of them.
- tacobueno, on 11/25/2008, -9/+31Excuse me Mr. President, I would like a pardon and a bailout. That would be great
- cowsgonemadd3, on 11/25/2008, -5/+26If you have not figured it out there are mods on here that can push a story to the top or keep it from going popular. Digg is not a free system.
- Ajajadude, on 11/25/2008, -1/+22I always wondered how they decide on these exact people. Do people working under him know the family members or something? Some of those people seem too random.
- stone2020, on 11/25/2008, -3/+22From the About Us:
"Digg surfaces the best stuff as voted on by our users. You won’t find editors at Digg — we’re here to provide a place where people can collectively determine the value of content and we’re changing the way people consume information online."
Liars. They better change that soon. - inactive, on 11/25/2008, -0/+19You'll need to change the Constitution then. Hop to it!!
- inactive, on 11/25/2008, -0/+19 What about Ramos and Campion?
- Pepin, on 11/25/2008, -6/+24Uh, how is getting a DUI likable on any level?
- Xihix, on 11/25/2008, -0/+18You have to admit, some of the people who he pardoned were jailed for ***** reasons.
- Cl1mh4224rd, on 11/25/2008, -5/+23> "They are asking for a revolution."
You act like Bush is the only one to have done this sort of thing. I mean, I know it's fashionable and everything to publicly bash Dubya[1], but check your history. Seriously.

1 Hey, I don't like the guy either, but show a little more maturity, and a little less "me, too", angsty, pseudo-indignation. The points you score here on Digg mean nothing.
Edit: Heh. I just noticed your username. A pseudo-anarchist, too? Classy. - SmoothGummi, on 11/25/2008, -3/+21From the article.
"That's less than half as many as Presidents Clinton"
Please.. don't turn this into a Bush bashing thread like every other one here. EVERY President does this. Obama will do the exact same thing. - inactive, on 11/25/2008, -4/+21It's because it's negative about Bush. It's digg rules that it make the front page.
- Greggg, on 11/25/2008, -9/+26I know it sucks, but presidents have done this for decades now. Clinton pardoned drug dealers, theives and all sorts of different criminals. I can't wait to log onto Digg and get something positive about Obama, and not a negative story about a lame-duck, lame-brain Bush.
Clinton's pardon list:
http://www.usdoj.gov/opa/pardonchartlst.htm - MidnightRIder77, on 11/25/2008, -2/+19People really need to stop blaming bush for that. Even Obama voted for it.
- elipabst, on 11/25/2008, -1/+17Scooter's not on there...he's not done yet.
- georgemason01, on 11/25/2008, -0/+15Hypocrite?
- thesandbender, on 11/25/2008, -15/+30You're right... Clinton didn't pardon any questionable people.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Clinton_pardons_ ...
Neither did Carter:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_people_pardon ...
Oh wait... sorry I screwed that up. - Cl1mh4224rd, on 11/25/2008, -2/+17> "They shouldn't, but they do."
It's a power granted to the President by the U.S. Constitution. I, personally, disagree with it. While I agree that they shouldn't do it out of principle, you seem to be implying that they shouldn't do it because it's an abuse of power.
It's not. - faceless323, on 11/25/2008, -0/+14sounds like someone represents the prisoner and makes the case to whomever and they decide who they want to pardon...Bush just signs on the dotted line...
- NoLibertarians, on 11/25/2008, -2/+16Mostly nobody's so far...The far out ones won't come until the last moment, just like with all presidents
- nevetssav, on 11/25/2008, -6/+20No, dude, it's because the war on drugs is super important.
[/s] - twertyto, on 11/25/2008, -1/+14No considering he hasn't been convicted of anything.
- JoeParanoid, on 11/25/2008, -10/+23He's not only stingy, he also has a curious standard as to the sort of people and offenses he finds forgiveable.
- Cl1mh4224rd, on 11/25/2008, -0/+12> "They are asking for a revolution."
Oh, by the way... the power to grant pardons is given to the President by the U.S. Constitution. - Jeepinator, on 11/25/2008, -1/+13Complain to congress about the bailout buddy.
- Cl1mh4224rd, on 11/25/2008, -0/+12> "I always wondered how they decide on these exact people. Do people working under him know the family members or something? Some of those people seem too random."
"All federal pardon petitions are addressed to the President, who grants or denies the request. Typically, applications for pardons are referred for review and non-binding recommendation by the Office of the Pardon Attorney, an official of the Department of Justice."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pardon#United_States
"All requests for executive clemency for federal offenses are directed to the Pardon Attorney for investigation and review. The Pardon Attorney prepares the Department's recommendation to the President for final disposition of each application."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Office_of_the_Pardon_ ... - Jibberwalk, on 11/25/2008, -1/+13He's commuted far less people then Reagan. And Clinton.
- HolyFrickinCrap, on 11/25/2008, -5/+17I beg your pardon.
- Burento, on 11/25/2008, -0/+11Yeah and 20 diggs in 3 hours is not the rate that causes stories to front page :(
- AbsurdParadox, on 11/25/2008, -9/+20How about he pardons everyone who's in jail for a victimless crime.
Oh, I guess that would put 90% of prisons out of business. Can't have that... think of all those JOBS! - Burento, on 11/25/2008, -9/+19Less than 20 diggs and a "_3" dupe no less.. Wow Digg... wtf
