- CVL4317, on 10/19/2008, -0/+40well, we kinda put our nation into Bankruptcy
- WordsnCollision, on 10/19/2008, -1/+20"Parts of the nation"? Does he mean the Lower 48?
- algaeturd, on 10/20/2008, -0/+15Um, we kinda need to borrow 850 billion dollars from the poor and middle class.
Kinda. - noupsell, on 10/19/2008, -0/+13FTA: Lazear said the U.S. budget deficit would grow because of the cost of the bailout plan, but declined to say how high. ||| Hey I know! Let's start saving some money right now by FIRING the President's Economic Advisers.
- Surferess, on 10/19/2008, -0/+12Thank you!
- ButlerMonkey, on 10/20/2008, -1/+9Bush's "economic adviser" is clearly an idiot.
- akhomestead, on 10/20/2008, -1/+9we need to fire the government. When people wake up that we as a people can govern our self better than these corrupt ***** who keep us scared and living in fear, we might have change.
- kinerry, on 10/20/2008, -0/+7versus a borrow and spend republican?
- Trekhawk, on 10/19/2008, -0/+7Perhaps the corrupt, bank-owned Congress kinda, maybe shouldn't have passed that pork-laden bailout.
- inactive, on 10/20/2008, -1/+7Bush, you better leave the country when your term is over, cuz the American people will Kinda maybe bring criminal charges against your ASS.
- Dumbledorito, on 10/20/2008, -0/+6In our nation's recent history, the so-called "tax and spend liberals" have done a better job with the economy than the so-called "fiscal conservatives," especially Bush.
Pardon the language, but that ***** doesn't include war spending or even this bailout money when figuring the budget and the resulting defecit. If you GOP'ers would just learn how to add, maybe you wouldn't cast your ballots for ideologues once in a while. - empraptor, on 10/20/2008, -0/+6Karlitzor - "let's not prosecute rapists if they murder their victims."
lol - takamichinaku, on 10/19/2008, -1/+6That is what we have been talking for more than an year.
- voodoochild461, on 10/20/2008, -0/+5Maybe.
- RedStateRetard, on 10/20/2008, -0/+5We are in a "double secret recession"
- JLSN, on 10/20/2008, -0/+5Plus Hawaii.
- RawCoyote, on 10/20/2008, -0/+5Have you been living in a cave or are you just plain ignorant?
http://www.lafn.org/gvdc//Natl_Debt_Chart.html - Dumbledorito, on 10/20/2008, -1/+5No, no, no. Don't you understand? We're a faith-based economy now. Have faith and you can eat... mana, which will "trickle down" from capital gains tax cuts! And your cars can run... um... on "holy oil." Which will come from... um... the holy state of Alaska, where oil will come from forever if you BELIEVE hard enough!
- DyceFreak, on 10/20/2008, -1/+5what they say impacts the market? Just goes to prove how fake this "market" really is...
- sanman, on 10/20/2008, -0/+4well, what do you expect govt officials to say right now?
"It's a Recession! It's a Depression! Everyone panic!"
Sorry, but any govt officials have to be cautious over what they say, because it impacts the market. - inactive, on 10/19/2008, -1/+5Like father like son.
- SheilaNoya, on 10/20/2008, -1/+5Clearly, this can't be true. McCain's economic advisor assured us that the economy is fine and we're just a "nation of whiners".
/s - inactive, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3Birds of a feather...
- neumulct, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3Not an onion article?
- thinkharderest, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3so it's official now? haha
- Ne007, on 10/20/2008, -1/+4Like, maybe we completely ***** the country, maybe.
- painted82, on 10/20/2008, -1/+4Is Exxon paying for the war for oil?
- inactive, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3Gorlock is a pesky little prankster. I have the same economic advisor and he's pulling my leg like that all the time.
- nickymouse, on 10/20/2008, -1/+4You should be pissed at the democrats blocking oversight of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, who should be pissed that CRA bill passed by dems that had caused the sub-prime mortgage crisis. It's not greed or capitalism that is ruining our economy, It's stupidity and socialism that is causing so much hurt.
- Hangly, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3He kinda maybe the entire economy.
- JLSN, on 10/20/2008, -1/+4I thought that Crypt Keeper guy running against Obama said " The fundamentals of the economy are strong"
- ispshadow, on 10/20/2008, -1/+4Parts of the country? You mean the part of the country that's outside of D.C?
Yup, we agree with you.
We just use the words "whole country" instead. It sounds a lot less like lying. - nickymouse, on 10/20/2008, -1/+4So should I go around and proclaim I have AIDS before I receive the test, because it sure sounds like what the Digg community is saying. Since 2001 people have been saying we've been in recession. So instead of us claiming we're in a recession, let's wait for the test.
- nickymouse, on 10/20/2008, -2/+5We're technically not in a recession until GDP growth comes out at the end of the quarter and shows stagnate or negative growth. Although last quarter was slow, we still had growth. However, I may be wrong seeing how Digg is full of the worlds best economist.
- JLSN, on 10/20/2008, -0/+3El Busho, he dont know
McSamo
No No
Caribou Barbie, la stupida - Hangly, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2The world economy will come out of it stronger than ever, but the US won't. Our creditors (China) will scoop up everything of value for pennies on the dollar, and we will work for them.
- inactive, on 10/20/2008, -1/+3Recession has been going on for almost a year now! Nice of them to kinda-sorta join the party.
- sanman, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2just like how saying things can impact elections
it's true for any choice-based system - JLSN, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2recession, repression depression.
- JLSN, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2Enemy combatants don't get due process.
- liquisoft, on 10/20/2008, -3/+5Would those "parts" that are in a recession be every part except for the areas currently occupied by the stinking ***** rich?
- Almadiel, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2We aren't in one yet, surprisingly enough. But at the end of the quarter we might get there. We can only guess at this point. And no, recession isn't the same as "I am losing money", the definition is dead simple and specific. Your "common usage" of the term can go to hell.
- leadfoot, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2The same people telling us the economy fundamentals are sound are the ones lying about the GDP, GNP or the CPI. These idiots even refuse to tell us just how many dollars are in circulation so we can determine our anticipated inflation tax. You will know only what they tell you and never the truth. We are in a recession when you factor in food and energy. Our under employment and unemployment is likely already at 10% to 12% adjusted inflation is estimated at just over 20% year to date. Much worse and we our house of cards will collapse. Lets not forget all those adjustable rate mortgages that are reseting next year and the year after!
- nickymouse, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2@Hangly
Exxon pays around 27 billion in taxes. They receive 4 billion dollars in tax incentives. However, this money doesn't factor in the price they pay for govt. land leases for oil and other fees. So your wrong buddy. - KOSmurfy, on 10/20/2008, -1/+3That's not quite right. We may be in a recession, but we won't know for sure until the data is finalized. It's like saying someone doesn't technically have AIDS until they're diagnosed.
- inactive, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2Once the "democrats" take full control, and install their carbon tax scheme, and their "rich" tax, we will rapidly fall into a full blown depression which will then rapidly spread to the rest of the world.
- Hangly, on 10/20/2008, -1/+3What are you smoking? Exxon pays no taxes whatsoever. Factoring in all the incentives and tax breaks the US govt. pays Exxon money.
- mahadiga, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2Recession != Depression
- Lunarbunny, on 10/20/2008, -0/+2The emperor has no clothes.
