- benologist, on 05/09/2009, -1/+10Boston Globe is my favourite online news site for their awesome photo galleries. I don't get my news from there but I really appreciate them every time I come across The Big Picture.
Digg/Reddit/etc users should be doing everything they can to help this paper survive so we keep getting quality photo galleries instead of the usual ***** scraped from Google or some other blog and designed to harvest ad impressions. - DjOverEZ, on 05/09/2009, -3/+8I'm gay.
- inactive, on 05/09/2009, -2/+6There's nothing quite like people that are generally pro "green" supporting dead tree media.
- ethanlong, on 05/09/2009, -2/+6Why couldn't the Boston Herald be in trouble instead?
- inactive, on 05/10/2009, -1/+4I am glad that money-losing Boston Globe will remain the albatross around New York Slimes' neck.
- astroslut, on 05/10/2009, -0/+3Newspapers need to be what 24-hour news has failed to do, actual journalists. Research a story, report the facts, and don't rush to get something out just to fill space.
I would be happy to repeatedly visit a newspaper website that had fact based news.
I would even turn off ad block.
Drop the paper, but please, don't just drop out.
The world needs real journalists. - norman619, on 05/09/2009, -0/+3LOL!!! I haven't read a newspaper in years. The only use I have for them is as packing material. The only people I know who still read the paper are the elderly. That means the newspapers will have readers for maybe nother 15 to 20 years and I think that's being a bit generous. The rest get their news from other sources like the internet and TV. The big government push to get more people online is the death knell for newspapers. Listen to the bell newspapers for it tolls for thee!
- kelmaster1, on 05/09/2009, -1/+4I could care less about the paper, but I would hate to see boston.com and their AWESOME picture sets go away... I have yet to see a site that parallels the quality of boston's pictures.
- c3rul3an, on 05/10/2009, -0/+2Oh. They're all in trouble.
- FattyMagee, on 05/09/2009, -0/+2Go toilet* paper!!!
- statismisdead, on 05/10/2009, -0/+2I will personally ***** on the grave of the MSM.
- asgardshill, on 05/09/2009, -0/+2Polly want a cracker?
- WibWobble, on 05/09/2009, -0/+2BREAKING NEWS: New York Times publishes the same content online as it does in paper!
BREAKING NEWS UPDATE: So does the LA Times!
AND MORE! So does every other paper you prat. - mbraynard, on 05/09/2009, -1/+3Newspapers today are the equivalent of horse manure on the streets 100 years ago.
I'm sure some people missed the smell of that too. - divinediva, on 05/09/2009, -2/+4It's a huge community responsibility that we take seriously.
- WellOkayThen, on 05/10/2009, -0/+2How fares the republic? Not so good. We're losing the army of boots on the ground that do the real work of reporting and journalism. We've been losing them for decades. It's easy to be flippant about the death of print, but without a thriving, competitive news industry there is no investigative oversight of government. Everyone just repeats whatever was printed on the handout they got from the press secretaries.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to climb down off this soapbox. - akchrs, on 05/09/2009, -1/+2For one you could start by linking to the original news story instead of the Huffingtonpost to at least boost some ad revenue.
- styleinmotion, on 05/09/2009, -4/+5i'll be sad the day that there are no more print newspapers
- NoSpin2009, on 05/10/2009, -0/+1I would rather see the day that the New York Times collapses. This may not be too far off though.
- pbs11, on 11/27/2009, -0/+1The world needs blogger-type journalists... or should I say, just bloggers?
who knows how to spell check
http://www.texttrust.com/ - matts0344, on 05/10/2009, -1/+2Because no one reads the Boston Globe. People buy the Herald.
- vinvega, on 05/10/2009, -0/+1I count the days that this total biased rag of a paper goes away. I'm loving every second of this.
- bipolarruledout, on 05/10/2009, -1/+2My laser printer still needs paper.
- JHaze, on 05/10/2009, -2/+2Change your name to BendOverEZ
- somespecial, on 05/09/2009, -4/+4Sell Boston.com to me , and use bostonnewspaper.com
- sternomastoid, on 05/09/2009, -4/+4Go paper!!!
- deansaluti, on 05/16/2009, -0/+0Hopefully new technologies like the Amazon Kindle will help save newspapers.
- akchrs, on 05/09/2009, -3/+3BREAKING NEWS: The online versions lie too you tosser.
