- kgool, on 02/12/2008, -3/+76I guess my HD-DVD player is a $400 paperweight now.
- shogun042, on 02/12/2008, -9/+62finally...can i have my Universal and Paramount movies now?
christ i don't see how Toshiba can justify staying in this long, just make damn blu ray player and make up your losses - Lutremi, on 02/12/2008, -12/+65Bwahaha, double owned
- Goodbyeworld, on 02/12/2008, -4/+53Beta is gonna make a comeback, just you watch
- bfrank72, on 02/12/2008, -8/+48The lack of 'e' in Blu-Ray perturbs me.
- SfOwnsLa, on 02/12/2008, -5/+43So Netflix goes Blu, then Best Buy. I'm gonna steal this line but "Thats like getting kicked in the nuts after you have already been kicked in the nuts."
- stlcadet11, on 02/12/2008, -5/+38HD-DVDead
- Ajajadude, on 02/12/2008, -5/+37It's kind of pissing me off that the HD-DVD camp is holding out. It's just keeping the costs up and keeping the consumers from getting certain movies in the format that's basically won this whole format war.
- nerderyforever, on 02/12/2008, -3/+31Who here is looking into getting a PS3 now?
- Comanche, on 02/12/2008, -3/+29Ok, now lets get some other retailers on this bandwagon so we can continue to the next phase of lower prices and more movies!
- onimusha115, on 02/12/2008, -0/+24Yeah, but steve jobs also thinks that people dont read anymore either. I think it will be quite some time before digital downloads replace a optical media. Most people I talk to about it, and myself included, would like a tangible object when paying 15-25 dollars for a movie.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -5/+29IMHO, I think ONE of the reasons Blu-Ray is winning the format war is because it rolls off the tongue much easier! Two syllables as opposed to saying HD-DVD which has five. Blu-Ray ftw.
- GinsuGuy585, on 02/12/2008, -4/+27This is news why? Blu-Ray is supported by 90% of studios, HDDVD is losing ground as we speak, why shouldn't BestBuy put the best selling, best supported product where it will sell?
If they were trying to con people into buying out the remaining stock of HDDVD equipment before the disks stopped being produced, then I would digg the story. - mCanada, on 02/12/2008, -6/+28It's time for HDDVD to shut it down so DVD Jon can more easily get a hold of Blu Ray players.
- yoda17, on 02/12/2008, -2/+24I remember reading digg about a year ago...blueray is going down. Watch it burn.
- Emachine, on 02/12/2008, -6/+27I almost bought 360 with hddvd last night, I'm glad I didn't, and I'm getting a ps3 later this week.
- onClipEvent, on 02/12/2008, -0/+21What's really perplexing is that the HD-DVD camp doesn't look like it's letting up the fight. From the perspective of major studios, retails and to the consumers, the war is already over.
- rento, on 02/12/2008, -6/+27Microsoft bought the studios consumers bought BD. It took a bit of time but we got there.
- Boing, on 02/12/2008, -4/+23Transformers on BluRay please...I need my Megan Fox fix.
- voomfoo, on 02/12/2008, -9/+27whatever i'll still be able to pirate them too.
- mpn401, on 02/12/2008, -9/+27Blu-ray != Sony
- LilBoyLuver, on 02/12/2008, -7/+25I see what you did there. Best to worst. Hah
- SantaClauz, on 02/12/2008, -2/+20If you're a dumbass, why do you post on digg?
- Spytap, on 02/12/2008, -3/+21I dugg you up because making fun of douchebaggery should never be buried.
- cambob76, on 02/12/2008, -3/+20The clueless will still buy HD-DVD... and then wonder a year from now why they can't get any movies.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -0/+17You paid 400 for an HD-DVD player?
- Kev585, on 02/12/2008, -0/+17Are you surprised digg is full of fair weather format supporters?
- minoss, on 02/12/2008, -1/+17same with flickr
- Comanche, on 02/12/2008, -5/+21Its not a monolpoly. Its a consortium of companies. Just like DVD.....
- swordedge, on 02/12/2008, -4/+19I was in a best buy recently and they barely acknowledge that HD-DVD ever existed.
- DrMonkeyLove, on 02/12/2008, -0/+15Which makes it sadder that it's probably actually true.
- superkendall, on 02/12/2008, -1/+16Because there are actually many Blu-Ray player makers unlike HD-DVD, which only had Toshiba. You see, when you have many people making the same thing there is this thing called "competition"...
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -1/+16That's like asking why a cow likes pastures...
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 02/12/2008, -0/+13Pawn it quickly.
- fragged23, on 02/12/2008, -2/+15Haha...I work at Best Buy in the media department and this is the first I have heard about this. Thank you Digg!
- joeyjoejoe99, on 02/12/2008, -5/+18Thats probably false
- peestandingup, on 02/12/2008, -0/+12Not $400 good I'm sure. I don't think any upconverter is worth that.
Sell it QUICKLY! - inactive, on 02/12/2008, -1/+12that is ***** awesome for those who live in the mountains with dial up
- sfgeek, on 02/12/2008, -1/+12Jesus ***** christ on a goddammed stick I didn't think it was actually possible to waste pixels and bits, but Nudar somehow managed to do so.
- tnoy, on 02/12/2008, -0/+10The 360 isnt better than the PS3 at being one of the cheapest BluRay players on the market.
- Comanche, on 02/12/2008, -2/+12They are a group of companies that are all invested in the tech, and compete against eachother in hardware sales. The more sales the better for all. I am not saying its going to be an instant price drop. Lets just stop the "war" and get on with 1 format. Prices will go down.
- danwallace, on 02/12/2008, -3/+13Sucker.
- joegibes, on 02/12/2008, -0/+10and razr... but then (shortly before the edit timer expired) I realized that "razor" has an 'o'.
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -1/+10Haven't they always done this to start with? Seems to me they were always pushing blu ray and hiding HD DVD. Because the players are more expensive and so are the movies
- inactive, on 02/12/2008, -3/+12Blu-Ray has more storage.
This was pretty much a no-brainer from the beginning... - inactive, on 02/12/2008, -1/+10coming from a person who bought a Camaro I can understand when you make purchasing mistakes
- moush, on 02/12/2008, -3/+12looks like we have a brit here guys!
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 02/12/2008, -0/+9People will always need a portable way to store their information.
- boxybrzown, on 02/12/2008, -4/+13How's your cassette player doing?
