- davidsmero, on 09/22/2008, -16/+1754Impersonating the customer to handle a financial transaction. This isn't rocket surgery, but I'm pretty sure this is illegal.
- Stupidumb, on 09/22/2008, -6/+790It's illegal rocket surgery.
- inactive, on 09/22/2008, -12/+760dugg for rocket surgery.
- Fhwqhgads, on 09/22/2008, -27/+662***** best buy
- rald84, on 09/22/2008, -38/+575lol. "rocket science" + "brain surgery" = "rocket surgery"
thats some tasty awesauce - dafragsta, on 09/22/2008, -9/+527All this ***** over $16. I can't believe Best Buy would even bother. They already have enough negative press.
- nace33, on 09/22/2008, -6/+369Dugg for the use of the word "awesauce" in the context of you digging another for the term "rocket surgery".
- dxgg, on 09/22/2008, -60/+315I've never had a single problem at my local Best Buy. They treat their customers well, honor website prices, price match, refund without complaint, and answer questions thoroughly. I know they're all different, and there have been issues in other stores, but I can only speak from my own multiple experiences in one store.
Bury me now. - corcad, on 09/22/2008, -26/+262Holy crap!!!
- Stupidumb, on 09/22/2008, -3/+232Those are perfectly cromulent words.
- AtraNoxVII, on 09/22/2008, -5/+229Dugg for the use of cromulent to describe "awesauce" in the context of describing "rocket surgery.
- inactive, on 09/22/2008, -3/+220Best Buy certainly seems to have a knack for hiring douchebag managers.
- donte, on 09/22/2008, -20/+206I know the BB hate train is always in motion but remember that this isn't a corporate policy, just one single douchebag manager.
- dorianh49, on 09/22/2008, -12/+191bastards.
- inactive, on 09/22/2008, -12/+172Do people still shop at Best Buy? I just use their store to look at large appliances in person - which I later order online.
- blu3bird, on 09/22/2008, -15/+160I rather pay more some place else than order or shop at best buy.
- Stupidumb, on 09/22/2008, -1/+132THAT ***** MOVIE STOLE HIS MEME USING TIME ROCKETRY
- AtraNoxVII, on 09/22/2008, -8/+123radwesome?
You sir try too hard and fail at life.. - GreatSunJester, on 09/22/2008, -7/+110That does not make any sense -- once the order was placed ONLINE, the price was set by the company. It was not (technically) an item out of their inventory or with a price error on their part. Either this is a case of an overzealous manager or a complete fabrication.
- Samurai77, on 09/22/2008, -8/+106I would have issued a citizens arrest for Identity theft.
- Caedus, on 09/22/2008, -12/+104Dugg UP, actually.
I've been shopping at my local Best Buy for eight years now.
I have yet to have a negative experience with them. - internetcoward, on 09/22/2008, -3/+90StupidDumb, you embiggened these posts with the use of cromulent.
- turion64, on 09/22/2008, -9/+92I'm amazed that people still buy stuff from Best Buy.
Let alone take their PC to be "fixed" by Geek Squad. - ZenMojo, on 09/22/2008, -3/+85"This is hockey, okay, it's not rocket surgery!"
--Mystery, Alaska (1999) - shutaro, on 09/22/2008, -18/+97Inconceivable!
- inactive, on 09/22/2008, -5/+83Don't even dick with them, go directly to the The Attorney General of Massachusetts consumer fraud division with your complaint.
I repeat go DIRECTLY to The Attorney General of Massachusetts. Document, Document,Document. Names, times, SKU's receipts, details. Be diligent. Be factual, don't embellish, don't use crude/rude language, be detailed, use quotes if you can remember them.
Then go to your police department and file a fraud report with regards to them using your name and representing themselves as you. It may not fly, perhaps it's all civil, not criminal but it adds to the paper trail for documentation. Again, don't embellish.Be factual.
Trust me, that'll get their attention. Screw those thieving idiots. - mllawso, on 09/22/2008, -2/+79"So what are you going to do with this laptop?"
"Put linux on it."
"..."
"...?"
"... So I take it you won't be needing any of our Geek Squad packages. " - bicyclethief, on 09/22/2008, -2/+73This entire thread is *****.
- ShadyG, on 09/22/2008, -11/+82You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
- EatSleepJeep, on 09/22/2008, -1/+68Dugg for use of "embiggened"
- MrFurious2k, on 09/22/2008, -4/+69What's another angry customer? I mean, you've already pissed off most of the country, it's not like anyone is going to notice another one. Anyone who shops at Best Buy already knows that they have terrible service. They know it, we know it, and they don't care.
- billygreen23, on 09/22/2008, -1/+65Douchebags need to work too. Best Buy seems like the most logical place.
- Jwoey, on 09/22/2008, -0/+63This kinda thing actually happens pretty often. People spot a price mistake and buy 1 or 50 of them, the company spots the error (because all of a sudden they're selling thousands of these things) and cancels the order and issues an apology for their mistake, often with a discount code on some of their other merchandise. Hop over to slickdeals or fatwallet and you'll hear stories about this sort of thing all the time.
The problem with what Best Buy did was they didn't send the notification, and the manager impersonated the customer, and that's so clearly wrong. - megamod, on 09/22/2008, -1/+64who are you kidding...anywhere else you go, you're guaranteed to pay less
- Rimrose, on 09/22/2008, -2/+57Yeah, I work at Best Buy and we saw that this price was there and most of us at the store went and picked up a few to purchase later on, but about 30 min later a manager came over the radio and said the price was an error, so most of us went and put them back. But every single person that had ordered one (or several) off of the website was able to pick theirs up with no problem. It was Best Buys error, so the customer shouldn't have to take crap for it. If this is all true about this other store, then that manager is a dick and this guy should probably take it to small claims court. Yes, I work for Best Buy, but I don't worship them.
- badwolf1980, on 09/22/2008, -0/+52What the hell does that mean??
- supersteve, on 09/22/2008, -0/+50but geek squad did a great job of installing my XBOX 360 games. Not sure how I would have made it by with out them.
- cawpin, on 09/22/2008, -3/+49I believe they have committed AT LEAST....Fraud, possibly identity theft (depends on the state statute), bank fraud, these could possibly be federal crimes as well depending where the actual CSR was located with respect to the store manager who called. If they were in a different state it is a federal issue.
How this Matt guy doesn't know this is beyond me but he needs to go far beyond small claims court with this one. - NathanielJ, on 09/22/2008, -6/+52Please don't reply to the first comment just so that yours will be up near the top.
- Skooma714, on 09/22/2008, -15/+59OP is now a new meme.
- piratearggghhh, on 09/22/2008, -8/+48I've worked for BB years ago as a PC tech and I can tell you that every single manager/supervisor lets that so called power get to their heads and immediately turns into ***** mode. They try to bully around their customers and employees, not realizing that in the real world, they're a joke and the equivalent to a supervisor at a burger joint. It's pretty hilarious now that I think about it since they never last too long before getting fired or quit because they didn't kiss enough ass to the higher up arrogant boss.
- WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -1/+39His credit card had already been charged - ergo, he DID already buy the drives. He was just picking up items FOR WHICH HE ALREADY PAID from a local store to avoid having them shipped.
- dougbot, on 07/14/2009, -0/+37remind me to email digg about faving threads, or at least have a "high rated comment" section.
- Skooma714, on 09/22/2008, -11/+48Fry's is way better
- TheRealM3D, on 09/22/2008, -1/+37This guy needs to call the police and accuse the manager who did that with fraud and identity theft. He cannot claim to be someone else or claim to be speaking for that person in a financial claim under false pretenses. Let's see how long it takes Best Buy to honor the sale price when one of their managers is arrested and it all goes into the local papers.
- AtraNoxVII, on 09/22/2008, -2/+36TIME PARADOX!
OH $!#% - R1100S, on 09/22/2008, -0/+33Yup.
It was the impersonating the customer that was wrong and illegal. - docCdav, on 09/22/2008, -4/+37***** Best Buy? Yes, yes I did.
Bought: Apple Macbook w/educational discount and got a FREE iPod Touch from the apple store.
Took: said iPod to Bestbuy to return as a "gift" without the receipt (and open).
Walked: the ***** out of there with $210 cash money.
Corporate idiots. You should do the same. - inactive, on 09/22/2008, -3/+35Goddamn "Mystery, Alaska" stealing meme's from the future and ***** up the space/time continuum.
