- darylyounge, on 10/19/2008, -2/+14Just remember your next president voted for the bailout.
Obama, McCain = Same ***** different pile. Both stink. - freeforall232, on 10/18/2008, -1/+13Instead of calling it the "Bush-Obama bailout", why isn't it called the 'McCain-Obama bailout"?
- darylyounge, on 10/19/2008, -0/+11Welfare fraud!
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -0/+10So the bailout is just to pay the salaries and bonuses of the Wall St. crooks that got us into this mess in the first place. [Light bulb turns on.] Now I get it!
- algaeturd, on 10/19/2008, -0/+10Americans don't care. They bent over for this bailout and even people who break their backs working 60 hours a week who are still below poverty level don't seem to care that they're working approximately 3 months out of the year JUST to help bail out these uber filthy rich pigs who wouldn't give them the time of day.
- Observant1, on 10/19/2008, -0/+5is this before or after tax on fuel, sales tax, property tax, utilities tax, and tax on carpet tacks?
- Observant1, on 10/19/2008, -0/+5idk if you've seen this breakdown before, you earn 100 bucks and the state and fed take 1/3. you have 67 and hire someone for 50 bucks for a few hours to clean your rain gutters, the state and fed take 1/3 from him (now 33+17=50). you put 17 bucks into your gas tank and 7 of that is taxes, now 57 bucks to those taxes.. the guy with the pickup puts 20 in his tank and another 8 goes to fuel tax, is now 65 collected back from that hundred. now the rain gutter guy goes and buys a music cd, pays sales tax on the item for another dollar back to the system, and we see 2/3 of it collected right back to the government.
- sheeplescareme, on 10/19/2008, -0/+4actually, tax freedom day fell on april 23 this year. that day marked the date the americans stopped working to pay taxes, meaning that all money earned up to then went to taxes. after the disastrous economic policies as of late, the date is sure to be much later in 2009. the founders fought (in part) because of high taxes placed upon them by the monarchy. what would they think of the taxes paid willingly by so many americans today?
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -0/+3It's the F.E.D
- unlawflcombatnt, on 10/19/2008, -0/+3Because McCain has almost no influence among members of his own party, while Obama has tremendous influence--as demonstrated by his getting 12 members of the Congressional Black Caucus to switch their votes from "no" on the bailout to "yes."
- sheeplescareme, on 10/19/2008, -0/+3actually, it is individual income taxes, (both federal and state), payroll taxes, sales and excise taxes, (mostly state and local), corporate income taxes, and property taxes. great taxation analogy, btw.
- authorfriendly, on 10/27/2008, -0/+1couldnt agree more
- seddyei, on 10/27/2008, -0/+1"Avarice, sphincter of the heart"
- brad3378, on 10/19/2008, -1/+1Why should most Americans care?
They'll be retired by the time their grandchildren have to pay for this *****.
