- dpchi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Funny, I bought the stock 3 years ago, and now it is up 1200%. Is that a short term trend?
- IslandSaint, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Not only does BoA have the worst customer service in the universe, but now they are the worst at predicting stocks. I think Apple already hit $93. Good work. Next thing they'll tell us that Christmas will most likely come in the next 3 months.
- MadKennyP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4This is quite a bold prediction, considering the stock has hit $91.75 in trading today.
/sarcasm off. - ldhertert, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8Ok, so I honestly thought from the title that this story was about Bank of America, UPS, Apple, and Target beginning to use Microsoft Outlook beginning the 2008 fiscal year. amazing.
- RichB214, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4The minute you start paying dividends, you will never stop. Its a sign that your company has matured and is out of the growth phase.
- evolent, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2From wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Banc):
"Under the laws of most states, a corporation may only use the word "bank" in its name if it is a registered and federally insured financial institution"
For anyone who is interested. - drlha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually it's "Banc of America Securities", not "Bank", oddly enough.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1mmm..okay.
- zalaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Typical Wall Street trickery. Here is the scam:
1. BOA (and others) have AAPL long and are sensing a top in the shares.
2. BOA (or others) prop AAPL up for a few days with a BUY recommendation here to both unwind the longs AND to establish a new short position.
3. Once these positions are completed, the stock will amazingly start to drift lower.
4. As it bottoms, a SELL recommendation will be initiated and the cycle is reversed.
It is so like Wall Street. Use the recommendations as a contrary indicator.
Look at TOL's chart, BUY recommendations came at the top when TOL was at $60. Now look at it.
When something doesn't make sense (a buy recommendation at a high), there is probably something else going on. The true buy recommendation was at $50 (which Barron's did a few short weeks ago).
Wall Street is high corruption. Deny this and be prepared to kiss your money goodbye.
-p - VolatileWhimsy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Bank of America is evil... kkthanx
- dcvtss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sounds like they need to unload some longs...
- ejoyner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey maybe you should try Wachovia instead!! :)
- chunkylimey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Which would make them more accurate than most market forecasters who without prior knowledge would tell us that Christmas will occur maybe once a decade or so.
Bank of America is exhibiting one serious symptom of market idiocy, they are believing the hype without seeing the product and although Apple have an excellent range of products (unlike Sony for example) they have yet to build a strong development strategy to increase market share.
Only thing that will really help Apple increase market share is if Vista turns out to be a disaster, and on current information they have a good chance. - flashboy131, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1yeah the iPhone rumors/gossip need to pan out. wonder what would happen if there was a delay. should be interesting to see how it plays out.
- evolent, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah, painful innit? Every time I see the word "Will" in a headline now I mistake it for an article about the Wii.
- ahhhrn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think the fact that every story about Apple stock gets dugg to the frontpage is a sign that this stock is reaching its short term peak.
- Barnonski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Should the fact that Bank of America is going bigger on Apple stock be a hint to consumers like us?
- seedtime, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@dpchi
Yes, three years is a short term trend. I have had my exxon stock now for about 25 years. If you would have taken aapl the prior three years you would not have liked it as much - nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Idhertert: Your powers of deduction are terrible.
- dankoleary, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2If Apple paid dividends, then this stock price would make sense. As it stands right now, the only way to make money on the stock is to trade a large enough volume to benefit from short term trends.
- JoeyM90, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1lol. i c wut u mean.
