*****: Bush Won't Veto $30,000,000,000.00 Housing Bill
npr.org — Mere days ago he was prepared to stand up to congress, and do the right thing: veto the housing "rescue" bill. A bad bill that not only lets idiots refinance loans they had no business getting in the first place, and stay in houses they have no business living in... now he's willing to privatize the gains, and socialize the losses of Fred and Fan.

And let the market take care of itself. It is a big boy now! - IconoclastStill, on 07/23/2008, -1/+5This is indeed *****. It's becoming standard for people to make bad choices out of greed, believing Big Brother will bail them out - building on sand dunes, building below water level, buying houses they otherwise could not afford . . . etc. At some point, the tough medicine must be administered.
- whiteboyfunk, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2Yikes. Flagrant spending FTL.
- SmokinOkie, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5So, I work my butt off, only purchase a house I can afford while my neighbor ends up getting housing welfare? I call shenanigan! Well screw him! Where the hell is my relief? I work two jobs while he sits on his ass 16 hours a day.
- StingingNettle, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5Moral conservatism is crap, fiscal conservatism is EXTREMELY important. And hear we have the worst of both worlds. That is the neocon way.
- PolishLogic, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3"That is the neocon way."
Yes, those damn neocons like the bill's author Chris Dodd....
