- sigmaman2, on 11/22/2008, -2/+38See? Gas is cheap, and interest rates are low. Now is the perfect time to go out and buy yourself another Hummer H2. Mission Accomplished.
- inactive, on 11/22/2008, -2/+36Mission Accomplished™
- inactive, on 11/21/2008, -1/+33I paid $1.78 per gallon this morning here in Maryland.
- twiztidsinz, on 11/22/2008, -4/+31"Cheapest since 2005" implies that its returning to its real price.
- iSeven, on 11/21/2008, -0/+22Wow... $1.87 here in San Diego.
- mindpuzzle, on 11/21/2008, -10/+32Deflation is not good. we need real prices.
- scully32, on 11/22/2008, -1/+22I'm all for lower prices at the pump but I hope we don't lose focus on the fact we need to eliminate our dependence on foreign oil.
- edebolt, on 11/22/2008, -0/+19gas lasts for maybe a year or two but does degrade and separates. The bigger problem is that a 55 gallon drum of gas is basically a big explosion waiting to happen.
- inactive, on 11/22/2008, -0/+18Where I live, at the peak of $4 gas over the summer, the mass transit authority locked in $3.92/gallon diesel until March 2009.
DOH! - AFelsinger, on 11/21/2008, -1/+19i use zipcar for the couple times a month that i need a car.... it's weird to never have to even look at the price of gas anymore.
- gobbleplex, on 11/22/2008, -0/+15because he likes anything under 2?
- sgiffy, on 11/22/2008, -1/+15Not likely. Recession = less demand = lower prices. The recent spike was a bubble evident in all commodities. That bubble has now burst. We'll likely not go back to 20 dollar oil, but the range of 30-50 seems likely. That's about what you get if you factor in inflation over the past 20-30 years. Like many goods the price stays constant until an event causes it to spike. It then settles in to a higher price as opposed to some things which increase ratably over time.
- kp2575, on 11/21/2008, -1/+13I haven't filled my tank in three weeks... I couldn't even guess what the price of gas is right now
- saadkamal, on 11/21/2008, -0/+12You can find cheap gas info using a Yahoo Shortcut. Just go to yahoo and type the following - cheap gas cityname (e.g. replace cityname with your own city). Example: http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0oGklqV2iZJR3 ...
- inactive, on 11/22/2008, -0/+11Does gas spoil or can I buy a bunch of 55 gallon drums and fill them up?
- Crushkilla, on 11/22/2008, -0/+11Not that low fuel prices are bad, but if this trend continues, chances are people will get cozy and there'll be less push for alternative fuel research and we're gonna get ***** in the future all over again
- ozymandias2012, on 11/21/2008, -0/+11God damn are we a bunch of suckers!
- twiztidsinz, on 11/22/2008, -0/+11In which way do you mean that?
Meh, doesn't really matter.. either the babies are fueling your car, your tires are made of babies or you've lined up babies and drive on top of them. All cool in my book. - sgiffy, on 11/22/2008, -0/+10The sound you hear is the commodities bubble popping.
- AmyVernon, on 11/21/2008, -1/+11$1.81 in Jersey. And they pump it for you, too. :-)
- SpeedSteamBoat, on 11/22/2008, -0/+10Let's not put the cart before the horse. We need real money first.
- warpsmith, on 11/22/2008, -0/+9And all it cost us was our economy!
- ThePowerDigger, on 11/21/2008, -0/+9SF = 2.02/gallon at costco most places around 2.25-2.30
- rheaume, on 11/22/2008, -0/+9So yeah, go for it, set up a camera though
- DiggitalGhost, on 11/21/2008, -1/+10I paid $1.89 in BD
- diktator279, on 11/22/2008, -1/+10I hear virgin babies get poor mileage, you really have to rape them first.
- obliviousfool, on 11/22/2008, -0/+9I'm waiting for it to hit under a dollar.
I can make it if I coast. - inactive, on 11/21/2008, -1/+10I pay 2.25 a gallon here in So Cal
- Sornos, on 11/21/2008, -0/+8Just bike.
- wezults, on 11/21/2008, -3/+11Analysts expect prices to keep falling. This is just fine with me.
- Jones82, on 11/22/2008, -0/+8"Inflation is bad. Deflation is bad. Is there a direction prices can move in that will leave the economy substantially less *****?"
-The Onion - Patrickdnj, on 11/22/2008, -1/+9Ha. That's why it's one of America's best kept secrets.
Well, some parts of New Jersey.
But in general, we have the richest counties, the most beautiful national parks, some of the best schools, greatest beaches (Ahem, sandy hook) and peaceful communities.
So please don't give into the stereotype.
And according to your profile, you live about two hours away from NJ.
'Cause changes are so drastic once you cross the border. - morninglorii, on 11/22/2008, -0/+8Nice gobbleplex, I didn't think anyone would be able to save that one, but you did it.
- diktator279, on 11/22/2008, -0/+8Thats just awful!!
- blake182, on 11/22/2008, -0/+8Don't fall for it! The energy policy should remain the same as it was when it was $4/gallon.
- v0ider, on 11/22/2008, -1/+9Gas prices were artificially inflated. Deflation is going to return the inflated prices to their real prices.
- funkymonkey01, on 11/21/2008, -0/+7You get it lucky in the US. It still costs us a lot more in the UK. Whinge whinge.
- twiztidsinz, on 11/22/2008, -3/+10No. You see, I actually do "get it" and I understand that $2+ a gallon of gas above normal.
The price is going down, probably at a sharper rate than the people who profit off gasoline would like, however, it's been far higher in the past year than it had been in the prior 20. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oil_price - GamerSDG, on 11/21/2008, -0/+7$1.78 here in South Jersey
- spaceman84, on 11/22/2008, -0/+7***** you guys. It's still $2.25 in the Hudson Valley.
- alais, on 11/22/2008, -0/+7So it was his fault when it went up AND down?
- jasdf, on 11/22/2008, -1/+8An honest person would report it to the attendant.
- Aeaus, on 11/22/2008, -0/+6Fundamental Misunderstanding of the Commodities Market. Check.
- louiebaur, on 11/21/2008, -0/+6I paid $2.19 in socal
- brandita, on 11/22/2008, -0/+6
I paid you-probably-really-don't-care in you-probably-could-give-a-*****-less, PA. - 80hd, on 11/22/2008, -0/+6where whinge=groan
- Nerys, on 11/22/2008, -0/+6Its not that hard. Outside away from flammable and here is the kicker. FILL IT to 95% no more no less.
Too little and it can get vaporous on you IE BOOM. too much and it could expand and pop the seal on the barrel IE boom or contamination.
If you do it safely its NOT overly dangerous. no more dangerous than any other "risky" thing. The most dangerous issue is not storage its THEFT and the thief F'ing things up and blowing himself and YOU up with him. -
