I'm not worried about defaulting. - deathsythe, on 11/17/2008, -0/+15I actually feel like an idiot for actually owning my house, unlike most of America - who is simply relying on the fact that "Obama is going to help pay for my mortgage."
It's a shame when hard work is unrewarded, and no work is. - rayajlou, on 11/17/2008, -0/+14i am really all for personal responsibility and accountability and pass no quick judgment on those that are enticed not to pay their mortgages. it really is sad... check out this situation: there is some kind of program where you can apply to get 20% off the current mortgage rate. my friend really needs this cut as the family is barely eating. she was denied because she has not been in default for 3 months or more. she is not eating because she doesn't want to default!!!
meanwhile a friend of hers has been in their home for the past 10 months, not paying the mortgage, stashing away money and simply living there til the sherriff comes to take them out of there. by then, they have enough cash for another "creatively financed" home because the default would not be on file yet. she too could walk out and get a really great deal on a foreclosure
this month, my friend payed short for the first time in 3 years so she could possibly qualify for this program later. she really hates to do it and her stomach cannot take it but she said it may be the only hope to get some help. she already refinanced and it still is too high for them. she takes full responsibility for what she did in getting to this in the first place. she knows the importance of being honest and keeping her word but all she needs is a bit of incentive to keep doing the right thing while the government is telling her by their actions that her good deeds fall short and she has to make a wrong in order to get some help.. just sad... real sad... - radiofrequency, on 11/17/2008, -0/+12I have no sympathy for folks who can't pay their mortgage. Sell the property and move on. There's no shame in renting and government already stopped taxing forgiven debt in the event a borrower sells the property at a loss.
- rebrad, on 11/17/2008, -1/+7I've asked myself that a few time lately. I could stimulate the economy if I could spend that money at the mall. I also need a new car. It would sure be nice of Obama to buy me a new Escalade and pay for the gas. I need help.
- inboxnews, on 11/17/2008, -0/+5Why?
- stuckinneutral, on 11/17/2008, -1/+6if you owe money and you can afford to pay it, you should pay it. some may really need help.

- masterspeaks, on 11/17/2008, -0/+3I could support a program that modified some of the most usurious loans generated in the last few years. Many decent people honestly did not understand what they were getting into. Whether or not you think they should be "punished" for those decisions the reality is that the economy can only improve if the bleeding of foreclosures is stopped. However, I do NOT support this current program that turns this into a cheater's game. It should be based on loan characteristics, not on someone suspending their loan payments.
- eve7, on 11/17/2008, -1/+4Because it's the honest thing to do. Besides, the more I can do on my own, the less government intervention in my life due to their "favors" (yeah, right).
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -0/+20bama hasn't fixed this yet?
Messiah FAIL - NoLibertarians, on 11/17/2008, -3/+5There is no better investment than buying a home...All the rewards of home ownership are not simply in the value of the home itself
- SatoriSeeker, on 11/17/2008, -3/+2You post nonsense too much to not be a troll.
