- crilen007, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9I would.
"I'll take the McLaren" - lulutv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Being made a half-billionaire overnight probably does weird things to your head.
- MrSolutions, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6I forgot to mention the article includes a video of the YouTube founders talking about the takeover.
They young guys dont seem that exstatic that they have just been made very very rich. - cmdrNacho, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4All your tubes are belong to us -
- Jasruler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Can you honestly blame them for being giddy? If I was about to recieve a check for several hundred milion dollars I wouldn't be able to formulate a cohesive sentence for weeks.
- vudicarus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3If, after the acquisition, youTube continues to maintain its own brand, what will become of Google Video I wonder.
- Sabot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Anyone who buys youtube is an idiot!" Except of course Google!
Man I wonder if the idiot quote by Mark will go down in history as one of the most incorrect quotes. - kledge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Quick everybody who believes google paid too much for youtube please email larry and sergey to let them know their high paid business analysts have it wrong and "lbytesxk thinks they are out of their minds"
- Sabot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Let me see If I can fill in the blanks for you. You have the hottest video site and you have a system to charge per click of an ad. You then bring those together. You also can get all the Paris Hilton type people out there to pay to put their videos and hot love scenes on your site. Humm...I think that may be a few dollars!
Then you get sweet deals with all the big media before they pull their heads out. You then distribute all of their tv shows on-line with advertising. Don't you know you get to keep what you kill :) - grooviekenn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What are your talking about?!?! Their video encompasses everything that YouTube stands for!!
If anything you just sound a little bitter! - zeeta6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Just wondering though: how would google deal with RIAA and all the copyrighted content on youtube.
- Pottersquash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So your wondering, no way in hell Net Neturality ever passes now.
- MrSolutions, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Same way they deal with all the other copyright lawsuits that get thrown at them. Hire expensive lawyers.
- MrSolutions, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He's not proven wrong until Google makes a decent profit out of YouTube. They could still as mark puts it "get sued to oblivion".
Although I personally think they will make a success of it. - Llanowar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Rich people "overpay" for things because there are other rich people who want that same thing as well.
- foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Stop ***** spammig Digg with this story

Read first comment. it has been buried.
I hate people who draw attention to their own story - grooviekenn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1someone knows nothing about business and will remain working at McDs.
- MrSolutions, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Following on from the above article I have written about Google dominating the internet:
http://www.digg.com/tech_news/With_the_acquisition_of_YouTube_will_Google_dominate_the_internet - DarkXanthos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Seems like a good way to get everyone onto your new internet backbone doesn't it? Once you control the most popular sites on the net you now have the content necessary to lure the majority of internet users to your network.
I'm thinking the ads may be part of the revenue but they're also positioning themselves the way Microsoft tried to during the browser wars. Just my two cents. - Paul1489, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0YouTube is nice for the occasional visit but I'm curious how Google plans on making enough money with it to recoup their expense. If they do start making money hundreds of millions a year off YouTube then I'd say we've reached the apocalypse....millions of losers staring at low res videos all day with nothing else better to do. I understand TV/Computer/Internet convergence but where does YouTube fit into that?
- MrSolutions, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Yeah they dont seem phased by it
- lbytesxk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1just because millions of simple minded morons stare at low resolution videos all day becasue they think it's so cool doesn't make youtube the best thing since sliced bread.
I mean nothing in the universe would change the slightest if it disappeared overnight. Except the simple minded morons would have to look elsewhere for amusement.
Looks like Google just bought themselves a big headache becasue now they will have to start policing for copyrighted material - lbytesxk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I just called google and offered them my laptop for sale for a measly $2M.
It has about 5 hrs of video and some porn as well. I would throw in the licensed Windows XP Pro as a bonus.
They said they will get back to me. - haggie, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2Rich people overpay for things because they are too lazy to look around for a better deal or they don't want to spend time to search out alternatives.
This is an example of just that. This is Google's Skype.
Sloth is evil. - lbytesxk, on 10/12/2007, -10/+1with all due respect, what exactly does Youtube brings to humanity besides clogging the interweb?
I think the google clowns are out of their minds if they think this thing worth $1.6B
