Without that basic knowledge, the average person is at sea about how much money they are actually spending compared to their income. Credit cards have been too easy to get, and the consequences to people's lives have been devastating in many cases. Still, when they pay down one card, they just get another one and run it up too. The fact is, tomorrow does finally come. I've been on the bailing out side too often because I've always been careful with my money. I started out with the budgeting because I had no choice. I had no one to bail me out if I over-spent.

Too easy to get.... I think I get about 5 offers a week lately... I also get offers re finance my home
I am always shocked when I read the figures on personal debt of the average person
I just toss them out after I shred them
My philosophy is to keep them for emergencies and If I cannot pay for it in cash.. You not need it
( I was in a major disaster and then they cane in handy while I was waiting for FEMA and my flood insurance to kick in)
and by the way Angela you are not ancient ! - inactive, on 09/15/2008, -0/+2@ sartan..
Yes especially the young people who are just starting collage need this information badly... they know more about sex than their credit cards.. - sartan, on 09/15/2008, -0/+2It's sometimes surprising how much of a mystery it is to every day people about the benefits and drawbacks of simple credit card usage and impact to credit ratios.
- inactive, on 09/16/2008, -0/+1It is very sorry to see govt. bailing out those big corporations... in fact Govt should be bailing out taxpayers who get into trouble due to dirty tricks of these financial institutions.
