- inactive, on 12/21/2008, -0/+198Boy this sure as hell doesn't seem like a step in the right direction.
- FuZi0nDET, on 12/21/2008, -0/+177Ugh, this kind of crap makes me sick to my stomach. These companies are laying off thousands of employees creating financial hardships for plenty of their former employees. My bet is that most of the people that got laid off had nothing to do with their banks poor performance.
I can't defend the Big Three's poor choices, but why are they so aggressive with oversight for them, and they weren't for wall street? Last time I checked Detroit didn't cause the economic meltdown on wall street, wall street did. - untreadatom, on 12/21/2008, -1/+109Any one feel like forming a lynch mob to start setting these exec.s right?
- pier2, on 12/21/2008, -0/+94As a taxpayer I would like to be placed on an oversight committee to rein in these thieves.
- swordedge, on 12/21/2008, -1/+761.6 billion to the very people that I want to see walking the unemployment line... figures.
- cadebbie, on 12/21/2008, -0/+69The banks had plenty of money without the bailout. They just needed to reign in the bonuses given to the executives that were already making a good salary. Who needs a bonus to make them work hard? That's just backwards. You work hard and then earn a bonus.
- mrsteveman1, on 12/22/2008, -2/+52If your ***** company had to receive taxpayer money AT ALL, the executive ***** at the top need to be FIRED, not compensated. The fact that they got ANYTHING at all, is ***** absurd.
I hope the ***** who ran these companies into the ground, turn up missing someday. I won't ***** care. - inactive, on 12/21/2008, -1/+43Now, come on, who out there DID NOT know this was going to happen? You can show your hands... ok, you people no more politics for a week.
This was so predictable it was an infantile gesture of futility to have any faith in the system or in the character of the people involved to believe even for a brief instant that tax payer money would be used responsibly or even effectively.
Top to bottom they are ALL criminals and each one has a special contempt for tax paying Americans. If you need more proof, we are going to get more after the first of the year. I'll bet what's left of my retirement on it. - hugolp, on 12/21/2008, -0/+39It all has to do with how much you can pay the politicians. The bailouts should have never happened.
- jim93, on 12/21/2008, -1/+34Is there anyone who will hold someone accountable? This is a disgrace . What ever happened to good old fashion capitalism where companies fail when they are mismanaged and people are rewarded for a good performance and punished for failing.
AP study finds $1.6B went to bailed-out bank execs
http://abcnews.go.com/Business/wireStory?id=650493 ... - tgc1, on 12/22/2008, -2/+32Let me get this straight. So people are losing their houses and their jobs, we're in an economic cluster *****, and yet the government has seen it fit to just hand over over 800 billion dollars to financial entities? And the official explanation was something along the line of keeping credit markets open and moving (buying up "toxic assets") yet these markets are anything but. So basically, what i'm seeing here, is that peoples tax money; the money you pay to the government for services and the like are instead being forked over to (already) rich executives, so they can do what? Buy more jets or something?
Riots have been started over less than this. And yet all the Americans sulk on about it. Yelling "Call congress... call my representative... I want answers... I want justice" -- and it all falls on deaf ears. You see, this is what the conspiracy people have been saying all along. The game is rigged... they've got all the cards. They're all on the same team and they are ***** us left right and center. I mean look at the figures. People lose their houses and these people spend the equivalent of a house purchase on their chauffeurs and "stipend" expense accounts. Then they get multi-million dollar bonuses JUST FOR SIGNING A ***** PIECE OF PAPER!? That's just ***** horse *****. Completely absurd.
I simply can't fathom how anyone would let this stand. Is anyone paying attention? Anyone? Bueller? - iancgi, on 12/21/2008, -7/+36Yes, lets all trust an administration that has been proven to be corrupt for the past 8 years. When will we stop letting them abuse us like this? Corruption at this level is beyond legislating or voting away.
The system needs to be torn down and rebuilt, just as our Declaration of Independence states. - jim93, on 12/21/2008, -2/+30Contact media-government-whatever

- craftyguy, on 12/21/2008, -3/+30Wasn't this supported by the Obamanation AND old man McCain?
- inactive, on 12/21/2008, -9/+35obama voted for the bailout without reading it. The people who purchased his election told him to. Now the next generation of taxpayers will be stuck with the bill plus interest because Americans didn't see how much of a crook the major party candidates were.
This is just the tip of the iceberg and the only good thing to come out of it will be the disgust Americans feel toward the presidency won't change the way obama hoped.
The highest approval rating he will ever get is before he takes office. If he lives four years he will not be re-elected.
The secret service says there have been more death threats against obama than anyone ever under their protection.
He basically took $700 billion and gave it to the very people who need it the least. The entire Senate needs to be shut down, its members stripped of pay and benefits and a special election held with a ban on donations from bankers and brokers and Wall Street so we don't end up with more of this type of corruption.
Clearly this give away of borrowed tax dollars was the wrong thing to do.
Can anyone tell me where I can find the place in the Constitution where taking public money to pay for salary and bonus for bankers is found? Anyone? - stoanhart, on 12/21/2008, -5/+29Where's the vigilante justice?
I'm too much of a wuss, but there must be someone out there with anger management issues and a sniper rifle! I can just imagine a string of CEO executions. The media would try to turn it into something huge, but I imagine there would be very little, if any, public outrage. - artwhite, on 12/21/2008, -1/+21But one step closer toward another revolution

(800) 210-3457 - ScienceDoc, on 12/21/2008, -2/+19I think we should demand pay cuts from all bank and brokerage employees.
- pintomp3, on 12/22/2008, -1/+18exactly, where was the outcry about wall street execs flying around in private jets? why didn't that bailout have salary cuts mandatory the way the toyota republicans were trying to force on union workers? wall street was given this bailout to prevent a credit freeze that would hurt other financial sectors. while the american auto makers have made a lot of bad decisions, every auto maker is suffering from the financial situation and credit freeze. sweden just bailed out saab. instead of going after the real culprits on wall street, certain politicians are using it as an opportunity to take an ideological swipe against organized labor and to make the market better for the foreign auto makers that do business in their state.
- anarcurt, on 12/22/2008, -0/+17I like your effort here, and maybe I'm just jaded, but I believe it has become pretty apparent that e-mails will not stop the piracy of the American people. All the people and companies listed have ties with the banks and execs being bailed out. I believe it is time for more direct action.
- L3on, on 12/22/2008, -6/+22Exactly the reason why I wrote in Ron Paul
- inactive, on 12/22/2008, -0/+15Not only are they laying off thousands of people giving themselves bonuses for a ponzi scheme that was a fraud....there were no profits to justify bonuses.
- Skooma714, on 12/22/2008, -0/+12Back to work slave!
- swordedge, on 12/21/2008, -9/+21do you really think the current troubles started with this admin? If so, I feel sorry for you. This is decades old.
- mongo22, on 12/21/2008, -2/+14Just ridiculous and sad.
- inactive, on 12/22/2008, -1/+12Those bank leaders should be executed, along with wall street leadership and a good percentage of congress. Televised, as a warning for the rest of scumbag thieves, who hold fail our confidence. Just because a weapon wasn't involved doesn't make it any less of a crime.

- inactive, on 12/22/2008, -0/+11And those who voted for this should go with them.
- themangeraaad, on 12/22/2008, -0/+11Look at the bright side... this is just 0.213% of the bailout... nothing much
</sarcasm> - booksnmore4you, on 12/21/2008, -1/+12How about the new Congress pass a Bill confiscating it?
- ozydingo, on 12/22/2008, -0/+10If their compensation doesn't take a hit at a time like this, what is left as their incentive to use our money judiciously?
It's one thing to protest government "handouts" like welfare, or even progressive taxation if you want. That's a basic conservative vs. liberal debate, and both sides have good points. But government intervention that in part pays for the continued multi-million dollar bonuses for execs of these failing companies? I simply don't understand getting behind that. - inactive, on 12/22/2008, -3/+13At least I know how Ron Paul feels about it. In 4 years when people are still *****, at least I know I supported the right person.
- dycc07, on 12/22/2008, -0/+10Contact the same people who were part of this scheme? and expect them to do something about it? not sure how that would make a difference at all. Once you realize that government and corporations (big media included) are intimately connected in a symobiotic relationship, you'll realize the futility of these efforts. The only way to stop this is through unconventional means, and i leave that up to you as to what that may be
- anthropodeus, on 12/22/2008, -0/+10you think you have a say in the way your money is spent on your economy? think again.
- Jlaugh, on 12/22/2008, -1/+11***** Obama pushed it through.
- realunderdog, on 12/22/2008, -1/+11At this stage in the game it would be like writing to Hitler to ask for help in stopping the NAZIs
- rocke86, on 12/22/2008, -0/+10Please contact your representatives NOW! $350 billion dollars is still locked up until congressional approval. Be respectful, and let them know you do not support giving the remaining funds to the Paulson crew. They are really going to push this hard to try and get it passed but our representatives are realizing the reality with all the bait and switching and deceit our leaders have been doing.
The federal reserve created this bubble buy lowing rates and encouraging big loans, and are trying to fix it with more of the same. Now that the system has got too big to support people are starting to be unable to pay loans back, we are not exporting enough goods to pay for our imports and that will come to an end when other nations stop importing our debt.
Our biggest problem will be hyperinflation. As soon as China and other nations start selling their dollars we are in a big heap of trouble because the Fed will print it, since we can't borrow anymore. This was planned long ago, why do you think most countries have a Central Bank? They are ticking time bombs to force our nations to unite under one flag...
We are only 5 minutes into a 8 hour trip..... Wait and See.... - sizzzzlerz, on 12/21/2008, -2/+11Seriously, did any one think this wasn't going to occur? Basically bush and congress opened up the vaults and said "here, guys. take only what you need (wink-wink)".
Basically, I'm starting to think those frenchies had they right idea when they overthrew louis XIV. - inactive, on 12/22/2008, -0/+9i second anrcurt's remark. emails and letters to our leaders and people we elect fall on blind eyes.
- realunderdog, on 12/22/2008, -0/+9"So we own part of those banks"
WRONG: The Government owns part of those banks..
WE are not going to be seeing a dividend.
WE do not get a proxy. - stompk, on 12/21/2008, -0/+9me too! or a cup of coffee, whichever is worth more.

I thought that was pretty well indicated by my final sentence. - realunderdog, on 12/22/2008, -1/+9The green mile
- bkripper, on 12/22/2008, -1/+9'why are they so aggressive with oversight for them, and they weren't for wall street?'
It's a chance for the Republicans to try and knee-cap the UAW. - jim93, on 12/21/2008, -2/+10I knew this was going to happen but not really it being this blatant and hopefully this might be the straw that broke the camels back and get people to e-mail their government officials.
