- Nwsamurai, on 10/09/2009, -0/+76Good luck with that.
- Dustin00, on 10/09/2009, -2/+42I do pay for my content, NPR rocks, covers everything, talks to both sides and challenges them on their "facts".
They don't pit opposing sides against each other since then they just spout their talking points at each other, which are useless.
Are these guys saying they're going to produce content with actual facts and coverage of the complex details instead of just quoting raving morans? - dalittle, on 10/09/2009, -0/+38How about AP, News Corp Bosses take a pay cut for their shareholders instead?
- badqat, on 10/09/2009, -0/+31News Corp is still trying to figure out how they got suckered into MySpace. This isn't the answer, guys.
- iheartbakon, on 10/09/2009, -1/+30Failed business model is failed.
- Cojafoji, on 10/09/2009, -0/+29This just in: News Corp & AP stocks take a dive! For only 19.95 a month, you can view the rest of this news story...
- phogasmic, on 10/09/2009, -1/+28Screw AP and Screw Fox. Go ahead and charge so I have even less reason to visit.
- cmnamost, on 10/09/2009, -0/+25Don't they realize people will just migrate towards the content that IS free?
- waydee, on 10/09/2009, -0/+25http://news.bbc.co.uk
News Corp and AP are completely out of touch if they believe anyone will choose to pay for their low quality content when there are numerous sources of free, high quality news sites out there. - gerrylazlo, on 10/09/2009, -0/+23There's always The Onion.
- Detritus, on 10/09/2009, -0/+21Do we have to pay more to get the rest of the headline blurb? Do you accept vulgarities as payment?
***** News Corp. ***** the idea of a "News Corporation". ***** whoever came up with that Orwellian wet-dream. - twiztidsinz, on 10/09/2009, -0/+16I hope MySpace fails spectacularly and takes News Corpse with it.
- twiztidsinz, on 10/09/2009, -1/+15Go eat a bullet.
- Lleu, on 10/09/2009, -2/+15It's becoming clearer everyday that the blogosphere is the next generation of hard hitting journalists.
- hikaruzero, on 10/09/2009, -0/+13dugg for morans.
- AmazingSteve, on 10/09/2009, -0/+12Shhhh. You might shatter their over-inflated sense of importance.
- rkthoadan, on 10/09/2009, -1/+12Obama did make several promises that he hasn't kept, but I don't recall seeing that one anywhere.
Citation please. - sylv3r, on 10/09/2009, -0/+11I can't wait for AP to implement this so they can die a very sudden death.
- mark322, on 10/09/2009, -0/+11They should be paying search engines to show their drivel, not the other way around. They must be reading the RIAA handbook again...
- neognostic, on 10/09/2009, -0/+10Agreed, NPR for news and PBS for investigative reports.
- portnoy, on 10/09/2009, -0/+10Ahh, the sound of Newscorp becoming even less relevant. Hey Rupert, this is the modern world talking. We don't need you any more.
- seltaeb4, on 10/09/2009, -0/+10Great, Rupert! Come back and tell us how that worked out for you! kthxbai
- Beylan, on 10/09/2009, -0/+9If they don't want to be on search engines its simple to block their site from being scanned.
- hikaruzero, on 10/09/2009, -1/+10> I though that OBAMA had made it a campaign promise to prevent all fees for news.
Guess that makes you an idiot, because it wasn't. *****, I walked around knocking on doors for 6 months promoting his campaign, and you wouldn't believe some of the ***** people thought he stood for ... people will believe/say he promised anything if it's convenient for them ... - BigLeeThree, on 10/09/2009, -0/+8agreed.
- kimbja98, on 10/09/2009, -0/+8Yes, you can thank us brits who pay ~£140/yr for the BBC. Some people don't like paying, others don't mind, but the BBC isn't free for people in the UK :p
- rhavenn, on 10/09/2009, -0/+8Technically, the BBC is directly funded by the British taxpayers, so someone is paying for it.
I'm of the opinion that Britain went from the motto of "The sun never sets on the British Empire" to "The sun never sets on the Britsh news Empire" :)
However, I agree. I will watch the BBC World Service news over any others news show hands down. It's by far the best and mostly unbiased. - Demener, on 10/09/2009, -0/+8How are they going to enforce something like this? Attempt to sue anyone who repeats news content online? If they aren't careful they could get themselves in a publicity hole as deep as the RIAA.
- nepidae, on 10/09/2009, -0/+8Wow it only took them 30 years to take the internet seriously.
- arunforce, on 10/09/2009, -0/+7AP doesn't have shareholders, and even if it did, it doesn't necessarily mean they will have dividends.
I really don't care if they try to block free reading, they will probably be hit worse when they try to do that. - bradleyland, on 10/09/2009, -0/+7I'm perfectly happy getting my news around a campfire. Now *****.
- Dustin00, on 10/09/2009, -0/+7:D
- kimbja98, on 10/09/2009, -0/+7It's called robots.txt
Website developers might want to read up on its use which all major search engines respect when found. - twiztidsinz, on 10/09/2009, -2/+9You know, FI5HERMAN... you can fit more info in the subtitle if you don't use "..............................".
- sndream, on 10/09/2009, -1/+7Everyone should using reuters and boycott AP and news corp.
- Obermeister, on 10/10/2009, -0/+6How appropriate that this was held in Beijing, the capital of media control.
- nydwarf, on 10/09/2009, -0/+6Pay for what? News Corps lies?
- Detritus, on 10/09/2009, -0/+6I meant the idea of a "News Corporation" was Orwellian.
I actually lament, to some extent, the death of journalism as we know it. At this point I don't have a tremendous amount of sympathy though, with the way they've been contributing to their own demise.

- twiztidsinz, on 10/09/2009, -2/+7But, as you said: "GOD loves guns", so what I said was fine in your gods eyes. http://digg.com/politics/Oklahoma_will_publicly_po ...
Out trolled by your own comment. - neognostic, on 10/09/2009, -0/+5Unfortunately we can't report @IC for comment ignorance.
- Photokon, on 10/09/2009, -1/+6it already has failed
- duniyadnd, on 10/09/2009, -1/+6Sorry, their company did even worse. You now have to pay AP and NewsCorp. to even use their company name in a headline of your own.
- twiztidsinz, on 10/09/2009, -1/+6No, but if you check his post history, you'll see he has many inflammatory comments which you could report as offensive.
- blackcloud333, on 10/09/2009, -0/+4With all these people "stealing" their content, it seems like a simple solution to have themselves blocked from a search engine. Hmmmm, I wonder why they don't do it?
- MORPHOTOSoNET, on 10/09/2009, -0/+4Truly greedy, uber-rich, elites... that... just... need... a little... more.
- Probatus, on 10/09/2009, -0/+4Old media die already.
- chrismwood, on 10/09/2009, -0/+3I like you. You're silly.
- newes, on 10/09/2009, -0/+3You guys are the best! If there's anything else you would like to buy us please feel free.
- burbankmarc, on 10/09/2009, -1/+4I listen to NPR every day. The thing I don't like is that they throw softballs a lot of the time, instead questioning the ***** out of people.
