- CChandler2423, on 10/09/2008, -8/+339A Billion seconds ago it was 1972.
A Billion minutes ago it was 102 A.D.
A Billion hours ago it was the Old Stone Age.
A Billion Dollars ago in Washington is 4 hours ago. - inactive, on 10/09/2008, -17/+268“I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is controlled by its system of credit. Our system of credit is privately concentrated. The growth of the nation, therefore, and all our activities are in the hands of a few men We have come to be one of the worst ruled, one of the most completely controlled and dominated, governments in the civilized world—no longer a government by free opinion, no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by the opinion and the duress of small groups of dominant men.” - Woodrow Wilson
“Let me issue and control a nation’s money and I care not who writes the laws.” - Mayer Amschel Rothschild
"History records that money changers have used every form of abuse, intrigue, deceit, and violent means possible to maintain their control over governments by controlling money and its issuance.”
President, James Madison
"Some of the biggest men in the U.S., in the field of commerce and manufacturing, are afraid of something. They know that there is a power somewhere so organized, so subtle, so watchful, so interlocked, so complete, so pervasive, that they had better not speak above their breath when they speak in condemnation of it." The New Freedom ~ Woodrow Wilson, 1913
“This Act (the Federal Reserve Act, Dec. 23rd 1913) establishes the most gigantic trust on earth. When the President (Woodrow Wilson) signs the Bill, the invisible government of the Monetary Power will be legalised… The worst legislative crime of the ages is perpetrated by this banking and currency Bill.” - Congressman Charles Lindbergh Sr.
“When the Federal Reserve Act was passed, the people of these United States did not perceive that a world banking system was being set up here. A super-state controlled by international bankers and international industrialists acting together to enslave the world for their own pleasure. Every effort has been made by the Fed to conceal its powers but the truth is - The Fed has usurped the government!!” - Congressman Louis T. McFadden
“Most Americans have no real understanding of the operation of the international money lenders. The accounts of the Federal Reserve System have never been audited. It operates outside the control of Congress and manipulates the credit of the United States.” - Barry Goldwater
"Depopulation should be the highest priority of U.S. foreign policy towards the Third World." -Henry Kissinger - Hangly, on 10/09/2008, -0/+236Let's crash it. We paid for it.
- awallafashagba, on 10/09/2008, -2/+158$23,000 for Spa services? what was is a fricking Roman orgy ? - I'm not American but this makes me angry on your behalf
- Br3ach, on 10/09/2008, -1/+135Honestly, ***** them. The $400 the gov takes from me every paycheck is giving these ***** a vacation. I havnt had a real vacation in the last 7 years.
If I ever see one of the on them street I will not be braking. - inactive, on 10/09/2008, -3/+99These people should not be able to leave their homes without being spat on.
- FulcrumVitesse, on 10/09/2008, -2/+84Why didn't all those execs get fired?
- Suzpaz, on 10/09/2008, -5/+82Like Obama said in the debate:
They should be fired. - ChristBehemoth, on 10/09/2008, -0/+77Why waste $23000 at a Spa if all these bastards need some rubbing on? How about just sending them to federal prison .. cheap, and certainly very deserving.
- inchrnt, on 10/09/2008, -1/+70The incompetence of AIG appears to be a chronic condition.
- MrSparkle666, on 10/09/2008, -2/+67I say we march on AIG headquarters. Tomorrow.
Edward M. Liddy is the CEO of AIG. I just looked him up in wikipedia, and surprise! He has close ties to Donald Rumsfeld! Who would have thought? Does the government think we are stupid? - inactive, on 10/09/2008, -2/+66These guys are taking advantage of us and seeing how far they can push. Question is: Who is going to push back? Someone needs to step up and put these guys in their place. I heard the head of Lehman Brothers was punched and knocked out while at the gym. Someone should find out where these clowns are spending our hard earned cash and give them what they deserve.
- montanask8, on 10/09/2008, -8/+64Fired! No - they should be shot!
- Jeepy, on 10/09/2008, -4/+58This is about 5 hours north of my house, anyone want to get some bricks and meet me there? I'll bring the torches and bandannas, we can do this Seattle style.
- charm803, on 10/09/2008, -2/+49You own AIG now.
Tell them you don't appreciate what they are doing with YOUR money.
Myself, I cut down on my manicures to save money but yet, here is my tax money paying for manicures I don't even get to enjoy. I focus on my needs not my wants because of the volatile economy. Fvckers.

- wonderchemist, on 10/09/2008, -1/+41You don't understand, AIG executives need special water made from the tears of hundreds AIG employees that had their dreams crushed.
- Croaton, on 10/09/2008, -0/+35FTA:
"AIG considered buying advertisements to explain its position, only to be told by public relations consultant George Sard that it would be 'a really bad idea'.
`To spend the taxpayer's money on an expensive ad campaign to apologize for how you used taxpayer money leaves you open to further attacks'. "
People never fail to amaze me just how dumb you can be...
I giggled and died a little inside at the same time... - davidg17, on 10/09/2008, -0/+34"Does the government think we are stupid?"
well...we do keep voting for them. - nemrel, on 10/09/2008, -2/+32thank you for your outrage
- davidg17, on 10/09/2008, -3/+32If Obama really believed they should be fired, he wouldn't have voted with McCain to give them $7x10^9 of our money.
If they went bankrupt, the guys WOULD have been fired. - secondfiddle, on 10/09/2008, -0/+26A good ole tar and feathering during the halftime show at the superbowl would do.
- fxu1989, on 10/09/2008, -2/+27Who cares how much it is...
It's his ***** money earned with his sweat. Whether it's $1 or $5billion, MONEY IS MONEY.
So I guess if you don't mind if I take a dollar from you every other second, right? After all, it's just a dollar! - Berkana, on 10/09/2008, -2/+25'cause they're executives; they're the ones on top. Who can fire them that they wouldn't just buy out? If this were a just world, the chief executive of the United States would have been impeached. The history of the past 8 years shows that executives never seem to be held to account.
- honeybrass, on 10/09/2008, -1/+24This is one of those lock yourself and your mates in a banquet while everyone else starves outside. If you don't have to think about it, it doesn't exist.
- Finsternis, on 10/09/2008, -0/+23Why don't they have it at a Motel 6 instead of the Ritz? When the rest of us are broke, we economize.
- heiroglyph, on 10/09/2008, -0/+21I would be terrified to come to work at the Ritz-Carlton while their little getaway happens.
I hope none of the hotel employees are injured, but I just can't see this going well. - walshgopher, on 10/09/2008, -14/+34A billion seconds is 31 years excluding the leap year factor. A billion seconds divided by sixty is minutes divided by 60 is hours divided by 24 is days divided by 365 is years. A billion seconds ago was 1976.
- inactive, on 10/09/2008, -2/+22I take direct offense to your comment. The parties in power, BOTH OF THEM, are screwing us and it's not Republicans that are traitors and terrorists, it's ALL OF WASHINGTON D.C.. There are many Republicans who are true republicans, and many democrats that are true democrats, unfortunately their voice is consistently drowned out by the media, those in current control, and people like you.
- JCPahl, on 10/09/2008, -7/+27"People deserve the government they get."
- Henry Ford - mrn111, on 10/09/2008, -0/+20Don't see why we can't since 79.9% kinda makes us the owners.
- austin63, on 10/09/2008, -0/+19Wow, a 169billion was the market cap of AIG at its 52 week high. But instead we give them 122.8 Billion for an 8.5Billion company. Brilliant
- turkish11, on 10/09/2008, -4/+23Dear folks on Digg,
Thank you for the gift of money. We will be using it on our honeymoon. We also really appreciate the fact that you can talk the talk in your chat rooms but none of you actually have any balls to do anything about it. We have had a jolly good time while on vacation reading your usually misspelled ranting and ravings. Most of your puns are quite clever. Since now that the economy has tanked and most of you will have to move out of your recently bankrupted mothers basement and enter the real world we know and understand the pain and withdrawal you must be filling now that you can no longer check to see who is being most witty to something blogged on Huffington Post. If you see us in the street, get out of our way, because without your monitor and keyboard, you will back away in fear with your tail between your legs, like a scared dog trying to protect his genitals. Again thanks for the money and support!!
Love,
AIG Executives - Charlotte_Web, on 10/09/2008, -3/+22lol... very clever
- NJank, on 10/09/2008, -2/+21that's $400 dollars of his paycheck going to AIG. ($85,000,000,000 bailout / ~200,000,000 adult taxpayers = $425). If evenly split , every one of us is shelling out about $425, and that money is going directly to AIG. Then, there's all the other taxes you're paying out of your income. So, wake up Mr. Brian. Learn to think before you make yourself sound like a complete douche.
- inactive, on 10/09/2008, -3/+21C'mon give those guys a brake. Wouldn't you need a pedicure after sticking your foot in so many asses?
- acknotSW, on 10/09/2008, -0/+18At least it would begin to send the right message that the party is over.
- GRANDPAMUNSTER, on 06/11/2009, -0/+18If you keep voting for the same two corporate parties, you can't expect anything to change. No one really believes our government is going to do anything about this do you? They will just have a few more press conferences to make it seem like they care.
- mikelieman, on 10/09/2008, -1/+19Hangin's TOO GOOD FOR 'EM!
You know, the kid who Socially Engineered the Yahoo email account of Sarah Palin's been indicted on Federal charges, and these AIG thieves are still at large.
THE UNITED STATES ATTORNEYS HAVE SOME NICE PRIORITIES, DON'T THEY? - inactive, on 10/09/2008, -1/+18No wonder this company went bankrupt.
- JCPahl, on 10/09/2008, -4/+21His racism has no bearing on that quote and your mention of it in this context is nothing but a red herring fallacy. And I think it was that "idiot majority" you mention that Ford was referring to.
- flygirl62, on 10/09/2008, -0/+17We can't afford helicopters. What do you think we are? AIG execs? No... We're just the people who pay for their expensive retreats.
- Swampthing, on 10/09/2008, -1/+18Sell AIG... Sell AIG... SELL AIG!!!!
- hifidawg, on 10/09/2008, -0/+17AIG's stock already tanked. As a condition of the bailout, the U.S. government now owns 79.9% of AIG. On behalf of the taxpayer, the government should replace the company's incompetent management.
- richmomz, on 10/09/2008, -0/+17"It is well enough that people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning."
-Henry Ford
...and the classic:
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their money, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them, will deprive the people of their property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered."
-Thomas Jefferson - TexasCanuck, on 10/09/2008, -1/+18Methinks it's almost time to bring out the torches and pitchforks...
- nmezib, on 10/09/2008, -0/+17road trip!
- PhantomRogue, on 10/09/2008, -4/+19This is the fact that people don't realize. Obama said they should be fired, but voted FOR the bailouts. Its a magician, looking at one hand doing a few coin tricks, while the other one is stealing your wallet while you are pre-occupied with the trickery.
Obama, McCain... neither of them are going to change *****, they are both liars, crooks and scoundrels. How can you honestly think that giving a privately run company MY money, AGAINST MY WILL (Hello stealing) is good for me? - sewollef, on 10/09/2008, -1/+16As Berkana comments... the last eight years should teach us that if you f*ck up big enough you get promoted, not fired. Corporate America is no different. In fact corporate America has been running this government [Halliburton, KBR, Blackwater, Exxon, et al].
- TwwIX, on 10/09/2008, -0/+15Somebody needs to give them a permanent retreat.
