- angrykeyboarder, on 03/19/2009, -4/+79I'd love to buy the person who leaked this a beer. :D
- MelvinSchlubman, on 03/20/2009, -0/+49"If you notice an angry mob with pitchforks and torches setting up a guillotine on AIG property, notify building security immediately."
- colinmcd, on 03/20/2009, -0/+36Americans are already buying AIG employees plenty of beers via tax money.
- EricSchC1, on 03/19/2009, -3/+38Anyone else notice how they tried to pin it all on "the big bad media" in the first sentence? For being part of the financial sector, they really have no clue what the definition of "accountability" is.
- bakamas, on 03/20/2009, -0/+29*laughs nervously* I don't work at AIG. *hides cool AIG hat*
Seriously, why would you wear clothing with AIG logo during off hours? laundry day? - sigmaman2, on 03/20/2009, -0/+25* If you are getting harassed at your home, immediately change addresses. There are plenty of houses on the market that you can purchase right now for very low cost. AIG will reimburse you for it.
* Purchase a bullet-proof, fire-retardant vest to protect against the torches and pitchforks. AIG will reimburse you for it.
* If cornered, throw as much of your bonus cash at the assailant(s) as you can. AIG will reimburse you for it
* Remember to alert upper management if you are leaving the company. AIG will increase your retention bonus by 25%.. - omgTHEPATRIOTS, on 03/20/2009, -2/+25brb, forwarding to my 'PROJECT MAYHEM' address book
- Defiance711, on 03/20/2009, -1/+24A company so dirty, it's own employees are advised to keep their employment quiet.
- shirue, on 03/20/2009, -4/+27Step 1: Pick up your phone
Step 2: Dial (212) 458-2020
Step 3: "Hi security. There are five peo... *scream*"
Step 4: hung up
Step 5: ???
Step 6: Profit ?
Do it ! - inactive, on 03/20/2009, -1/+22They forgot a few things:
*Run like hell if the angry pitchfork wielding mob rounds the corner.
* Do NOT try to look backwards while running from said Mob
* Tips on running take long strides
* Do NOT cut off AIG managers or other personnel
*You DO NOT have to run the fastest.. just faster then the AIG slob behind you.
GODSPEED!!! - Logal, on 03/20/2009, -1/+20They forgot to include what to do if there is a little fat kid dressed up as a raccoon outside the building.
- ScienceDoc, on 03/20/2009, -1/+19"Fueled by increased media scrutiny" WTF? I think this was fueled by "intense stupidity" by AIG.
- deema1, on 03/20/2009, -1/+18You angry mobs have so much displaced anger. Nobody is threatening employees of other recently bankrupted company. People are threatening innocent people for the actions of a handful of people. This is so insane. The only reason this is happening to AIG is because the government is pumping our money into their company, and then demonizing them for being a burden. The people you should be blaming are our elected officials. The government forced us to "buy" them, when no other company or country in the world wanted them, so it's our government's fault -- they made a really bad purchase. And then to come out and blame what should have been a bankrupt company for having bad contracts and being a financial burden is irresponsible.
Yeah, I hate that we keep dumping money into this company, but I've been against it from the start. I don't blame AIG for acting as a bankrupt company, because it really should have been a bankrupt company. I blame the politicians who put us in this predicament. Why are we in the business of paying the bills and obligations of a bankrupt company?
It's sort of like buying a pet crab that nobody wants because it has an uncontrollable urge to chop your dick off, and then getting angry at the crab because it chopped your dick off. You're the dummy who bought a dick-snapping crab -- blame yourself. In this case, we can't blame ourselves for buying a company that none of us wanted. So we should be blaming the people who insisted that this was a good purchase for the American people, because they clearly didn't do their due diligence. Shame on the Congress, the Fed, the Treasury, and both the Bush and Obama administrations. - inactive, on 03/20/2009, -2/+18"Surely Digg citizens are not this stupid"
LOL! You're funny. Of course they are. Look at 'em. - Gndoab, on 03/20/2009, -0/+14"Surely Digg citizens are not this stupid."
To borrow a phrase form slashdot,
You must be new here. - elliott9, on 03/20/2009, -1/+15Learn how to reply to a comment rather than the entire article
- BossKey, on 03/20/2009, -0/+12> we are Americans, and we don't threaten our own.
Except for all the time. - piratearggghhh, on 03/20/2009, -0/+12Leave the Porsche at home and dress like a janitor. Park the junky car in the Burger King lot across the street and walk.
- macgarp, on 03/20/2009, -0/+11dugg for awesome comments like "Avoid lighting cigars with one hundred dollar bills in public."
- MaxxusFlamus, on 03/20/2009, -2/+12with all the comments that masturbate to guns and revolution, you think digg is civilized?
you poor naive soul. If i were you, I'd move to reddit while you still have compassion in your soul. - spepin, on 03/19/2009, -1/+10Awesome!
I'd be livid too if that happened up here! - Billabonged, on 03/20/2009, -1/+10Prank call corporate security!
- moses737, on 03/20/2009, -0/+9These thieves and rogues should be thrown into prison for the rest of their lives for cheating the American taxpayer and for deliberately destroying their own company and putting thousands of American workers out of work!! I don't have any sympathy on these corporate devils!!
- inactive, on 03/20/2009, -0/+9I get paid to wear it.
- staffa, on 03/20/2009, -1/+9I'm gonna get buried, but no, no I did not.
How exactly should they have phrased it? Due to our jaw dropping stupidity and the public's justified anger at our corporation...
I am sure that would be more accurate, but come on, the memo was pretty neutral about the cause, it was just giving some reasonable advice to their employees. It wasn't meant as a dissertation on the cause of all the problems. - SexyGeekGirl, on 03/19/2009, -1/+9if anyone asks you where you work, what you do for a living, DO NOT ever say AIG! I'm so mad!
- Rioracer916, on 03/20/2009, -2/+9I found the other half of the memo:
* Refrain from leaving the building holding burlap bags with dollar signs on them.
* When all else fails, blame the guy who can't speak English very well. - Khast, on 03/20/2009, -0/+6Almost sounds like they are preparing for a zombie infestation....
- sx66gns, on 03/20/2009, -0/+6lol , good one mate.
- deema1, on 03/20/2009, -0/+6The criminals make up a fraction of a percentage of the people at AIG, if they're even there anymore. Most of the company was a responsible business. The problems resulted from the derivatives division, which the government does not regulate, despite the call to do so for years and years.
- Rothbardosaurus, on 03/20/2009, -0/+5Why is everyone losing their collective ***** over a few measly billion looted by AIG, when Bernanke and company have been so proactive in forking over TRILLIONS into the hands of the worst economic pillagers of all time?
If it's "the big story" in the media, you can *count on* it being a distraction from a much more important issue.
End the Fed. Restore sound money. Free the market. These steps will make it impossible for debacles like this to ferment. - mycoplasma, on 03/20/2009, -1/+6I would love for you to use the reply button next time.
- ThaDRD, on 03/20/2009, -0/+5He comes in 6-packs, getting people drunk instead.
- robdiggity, on 03/20/2009, -0/+4Everybody knows you just call Mysterion.
- drewpost, on 03/20/2009, -0/+4Man U supporter
- tonyteetime, on 03/20/2009, -0/+4And last , but not least ...refrain from lighting up your cuban cigar with a $100 bill when in public.
- kareemachan, on 03/20/2009, -0/+4And to the women: wear running shoes to and from work. Heels are hell to run in.
- Dgen_X, on 03/20/2009, -0/+4Hi, I'm a member of an angry mob...could you please unlock the doors so we can burn the place down?
- kareemachan, on 03/20/2009, -0/+3I have to admit, I was tempted when I saw security's phone number.
- mycoplasma, on 03/20/2009, -1/+4They could have said, "Due to the controversy surrounding the federal bailouts of AIG and other corporations..."
Although, yes, I agree that this is a total non-issue. - LokitheComplex, on 03/20/2009, -0/+3* Point in random direction and say "OH MY GOOD LOOK AT THAT" then run away
- Lennox24, on 03/20/2009, -1/+4Laundry day. Nothing clean, right?
- 2of8, on 03/20/2009, -0/+3If the organization I worked at wasn't "bad" in the public image, then I definitely wouldn't mind wearing clothing with the organization's logo on it, if it looks good.
- inactive, on 03/20/2009, -0/+3Where is Sam Adams when you need him to incite an angry mob?
- smegthelight, on 03/20/2009, -0/+3Stupidity ? To bilk everyone for that much money, then have the Government bail them out once the scam collapses, and then, after all that, you still manage to get a BONUS paid for with the Government money?
Pure F'ken Genius I say.
And they're going to get away with it too. Sure, a few might be made examples of, but on whole, they will get away with it. - tgc1, on 03/20/2009, -0/+3Turn to page 5 about what to do when your car gets towed from the parking lot across the street. And how to deal with police who harass you for looking poor and suspicious.
- moose26, on 03/20/2009, -0/+3After seeing this leaked memo, I think there will be alot of folks working at AIG that will either be leaving their job abruptly and or looking for other work.... well, many are already doing this.
It is kinda sad as some folks who work for AIG like the mail center workers, janitors, IT staff and others who are only support staff and have ZERO involvement with any financial transactions of any kind will find themselves living in potential fear of their safety.
As for the AIG folks way up at the top, they have all that money to use to protect them while still living the luxurious life. - inactive, on 03/20/2009, -0/+3 Now THAT was funny!!!!!!
- GroundhogBoy, on 03/20/2009, -0/+3Realizing that most people who work for that company have absolutely nothing to do with the division that brought the company down would be expecting too much, huh?
You people rather disgust me. I happen to work in a building shared by one of these banks and I have to deal with the same memos. 9/11 was bad enough, we didn't need our own country to do the same. - sgerwel1985, on 03/20/2009, -0/+2well played.
