- cdigioia, on 05/31/2008, -2/+5oooohhhh, burrrrrrrrrrrrrrnnnnnnnnnn
- PullingTeeth, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Hey...that was mean. Cut that out.
- bdbr, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Even if you don't see an advertised deal, they're usually willing to come down quite a bit. You have to sort of guess what's equal - as the article correctly stated, they all have different names for the same bed. They'll always pretend their model is somehow better, though. Pit two stores against each other and try to get the best deal.

- haentz, on 05/31/2008, -1/+91Seems like Viagra is always on sale. At least when I take a look at my spam folder...
- arkaycee, on 05/31/2008, -0/+15I'm gonna need a LOT of it, because of all these 19-year-old women in my spam folder who apparently talked to me a while back and somehow I forgot and now they are in my town and want to hook up.
- burjzyntski, on 05/31/2008, -0/+2you can always "bO0st your satisfaction with Cial!s"...

- FuckThaMeme, on 05/31/2008, -4/+23To UK Diggers - Is there ever NOT a sale on for Sofa's?
Imagine going down to DFS one day only to find there's no sale on...- shakin, on 05/31/2008, -1/+10And for Canadians... who can remember the last time Future Shop didn't have a "sale" going on? The huge sale signs are permanently attached to their front windows!
The problem is that when something is always on sale, it's never really on sale. - FuckThaMeme, on 05/31/2008, -0/+4Thing is though, we're bombarded by adverts on TV about these furniture "sales".
Yes, we know you have a ***** sale going on, it's ALWAYS on. - oojamaflip2006, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1It would be worse if you went to DFS and Linda Barker was there waiting to sell you her latest flock retro 'masterpiece'
- Krumm, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1That would be good, because you could slap her in the face and tell her to shove her crappily designed furniture up her ass...
- qetuo, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1It is really poorly made and designed, my advice don't buy it, it is not worth the money.
- Krumm, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1That would be good, because you could slap her in the face and tell her to shove her crappily designed furniture up her ass...
- lumargin, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Got to second the Furniture sales in the UK.....ALWAYs.....
- codered1322, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Same in America. There are mattress commercials every commericial break it feels like sometimes.
- thomashauk, on 05/31/2008, -0/+2Be fair they only have two a year... just each lasts 6 months.
- shakin, on 05/31/2008, -1/+10And for Canadians... who can remember the last time Future Shop didn't have a "sale" going on? The huge sale signs are permanently attached to their front windows!
- DS513, on 05/31/2008, -1/+30Books, especially textbooks, should be on the list. If you're paying full price for any book (unless it was just released), you're seriously getting ripped off. You can save a lot of money by comparison shopping for books online.
Oh, and computer components too. Never pay full price for computer parts.- remccain, on 05/31/2008, -2/+1Buy your computer parts from eBay only if you don't mind the total lack of warranty.
As for me, I want the 3 year coverage on my new Athlon 6400 - jtbell04, on 06/01/2008, -0/+0I have an issue with the entry on jewelery. A lot of big brands get away with selling ***** white gold factory-made crap (I'm looking at you, Tiffany's), and can get away with charging ridiculous amounts because people are mostly paying for a brand.
My dad, however, makes handmade jewelery in a little shop, and his margins are tiny. For a custom-made piece, they can be as little as 5%, at which point it's hardly worth it because the work is so sporadic and unreliable, and markups as high as 25% (which are rare) are still only enough to keep food on the table.
Same for diamonds - once a little 0.5k gets in a jeweler's hands, the margins are down to 2-3%. - mrpleco, on 06/01/2008, -0/+1My worst experience there is buying the 500 page $150 world lit book that my professor wrote AND wanted us to help him edit.
That being said, it was an awesome class and changed my life. But I still feel ripped off.
- remccain, on 05/31/2008, -2/+1Buy your computer parts from eBay only if you don't mind the total lack of warranty.

these are the titles to the chapters of love... - OffPiste, on 05/31/2008, -16/+3Obama supporter's brains are pretty cheap right now. They sure don't use them to critically think.
- johnn11238, on 05/31/2008, -0/+4That's funny, I thought we were a bunch of ivory-tower, latte swilling intellectuals...
- renegadeafk, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1That insult was pretty much about as intelligent as saying "Yeah, well you're a stupid-head" So I do not think you are in the position insult the intelligence of others.
- StinkBait, on 05/31/2008, -0/+3But you *are* a stupid-head...
You replied to the wrong comment, after all... - renegadeafk, on 06/01/2008, -0/+1Wow epic fail on myself

- LanceUppercut, on 05/31/2008, -1/+11My amazon prime subscription has saved me hundreds of dollars this year. Granted, I may have bought some stuff I otherwise wouldn't have, but the free 2 day shipping and 4 subscription often has me ordering from amazon through the iphone directly from the book stores saving me at least 25% sometimes more on larger purchases. I needed a mitre saw, and i purchased a Hitachi 12" for $255 shipped. It was $329 at Lowes. Amazon also has some great deals on razors, not just books and mitre saws and stuff like that.
- Crucible1001, on 05/31/2008, -1/+5Well, I doubt it saved you money, it just got your stuff to your door faster. I always get free shipping, but it takes 1-2 weeks.
- LanceUppercut, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Patience is not one of my virtues. I totally get where you are coming from though. I don't know why you were dugg down.
- res2, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1ha, glad I am not the only one. I use mylistwatcher.com to tell when what I need is on sale. Saved hundreds, only I think I am spending more over all, cause stuff keeps going on sale. :(
- qetuo, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1I think you can share you prime with 3 other people that means you can split the cost 3 ways!
- remccain, on 05/31/2008, -3/+1Oh.
So you're the people that are destroying the planet by having every trivial object shipped directly to your front door. I just want to say thanks, asshats.- StinkBait, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Yeah, because if they didn't have the object shipped, then FedEx, UPS, and DHL would just go out of business, right?
- DigitAl56K, on 05/31/2008, -0/+3Actually it's better to have it shipped in a van with hundreds of other packages going to nearby homes than to get out your car and drive somewhere and back to buy something just for you, something that instead of being shipped straight to the correct location (your home) is first shipped to the wrong one (the store).
So you're the people destroying the planet with your poor logic and reasoning skills. I just want to say thanks, asshats.
- Crucible1001, on 05/31/2008, -1/+5Well, I doubt it saved you money, it just got your stuff to your door faster. I always get free shipping, but it takes 1-2 weeks.
- DroppedGT, on 05/31/2008, -8/+25 finger discount or Free.99 make for the best deals.
- DroppedGT, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1/sarcasm
- jordanlgta, on 05/31/2008, -10/+2Just bought a Tempur-pedic matress myself.
- cdahlkvist, on 05/31/2008, -1/+3So you are a sucker for marketing? I suppose you think Bose is the best radio available too.
- jordanlgta, on 06/01/2008, -1/+1I've slept on it for weeks. It's amazing. You are an idiot.
- cdahlkvist, on 05/31/2008, -1/+3So you are a sucker for marketing? I suppose you think Bose is the best radio available too.
- jakerudy7, on 05/31/2008, -5/+19I hate MSN
- johnfritz, on 05/31/2008, -0/+4Amen brother.
- bdbr, on 05/31/2008, -0/+2At least its all on one page.
- H0tKarl, on 05/31/2008, -2/+8Bad advice on real estate. You never want an agent when you're buying. That's one more hand in the cookie jar. You're throwing away 2-3% of the sale price by having one. Today's free internet tools are far more valuable than an agent who is likely only familiar with a small geographic area.
- arkaycee, on 05/31/2008, -1/+6If you do get an agent, realize that in at least many states (Michigan being one of them), if you don't specifically contract a Buyer's Agent, the Real Estate agent is "always ... ALWAYS ... by LAW ... an agent of the Seller" (direct quote from my attorney). They must put the seller's interests over the buyer's, no matter how much they appear to be helping you (and no, I have no special interest here, not in 8 years since I bought my current place).
- LanceUppercut, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Most agent's dont even want to show you a house unless you have an agent. I am going through this ***** right now. I am ready to buy basically in cash conditional on selling my house, but they can't be bothered to show a house without a letter showing pre-approval. Pre-approval for what, me allowing myself to spend my money on a house?
Now watch me hit this drive.- itspuddingtime, on 05/31/2008, -0/+2http://youtube.com/watch?v=Z3p9y_OEAdc ?
- darkstar949, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1However, the catch-22 is it can be harder to do all of the paperwork without a buyers agent - the nice workaround for that is to find someone selling there house without a sellers agent whom are willing to take a buyers agent. The legal aspects are taken care of for you, and you get to save 2 - 3%.
- StinkBait, on 05/31/2008, -1/+1Um...you do realize that a buyer's agent is paid for by the seller, right? So, you can contract a buyer's agent, and not have to pay them anything. The seller is going to pay that extra 2-3% regardless.
- ferrell, on 05/31/2008, -2/+50#6 Congress
- Chalks777, on 05/31/2008, -1/+21Wait, you mean there's ungodly markup on things that I don't know the value of?
INCONCEIVABLE! - yourgiftsfree, on 05/31/2008, -0/+32YES THEY ARE ALL ON THE SAME PAGE!
- cjmal, on 05/31/2008, -1/+26I wish gas was on sale.
- jeuhrn, on 05/31/2008, -4/+67) Virginity
- FuckThaMeme, on 05/31/2008, -14/+26 is before 7 you douche
- candykidd, on 05/31/2008, -1/+5Someone put #6 Congress. Way to go. 7 is in the right spot.
- FuckThaMeme, on 05/31/2008, -3/+2He wasn't replying to that person though was he.

- ufia, on 05/31/2008, -2/+2I can tell by the look of it that web page design was on sale this week for MSN.
The article is not too bad, but I can tell they bargained the salesman to turn it into one huge shameless plug for other MSN services.- Rivetgeek, on 05/31/2008, -1/+2?page=all
the submitter linked directly to the printable page. Seriously, dont bitch about that.
More comment after the jump.- ufia, on 05/31/2008, -1/+2I have no clue what your comment means. Printable page? Looks like their standard layout to me, try feeding that ***** to your printer and it will hate you for days. The web page still suck camel balls after removing page=all, all this does is split the article in multiple pages. Thing still ***** SUCK! WE'LL DO IT LIVE

- Rivetgeek, on 05/31/2008, -1/+2?page=all
- dlinkwit27, on 05/31/2008, -1/+4They forgot appliances. Household appliances such as ranges, refrigerators, washers/dryers, microwaves, dishwashers, and range hoods are ALWAYS on sale.
- lisaawesome, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1I know at Lowe's stores you can just give the salesperson any price and say you found it at another store and they will typically take your word on it and sell you the appliance for that price. Obviously you can't give them absolutely outrageous prices but I've seen people walk out with 200-300 dollars off an appliance without having to really haggle.
- JasonCox, on 05/31/2008, -1/+6Half of Best Buy is always on sale; now granted prior to the sale they jacked up the prices so technically you're still paying retail.
- gffmarsh09, on 05/31/2008, -0/+0This is true... these products have buyers all time so....
- peznex, on 05/31/2008, -1/+1Am I the only one that thought the thumbnail, when viewed on the homepage, looked like a pr0n screen shot?
- LanceUppercut, on 05/31/2008, -0/+3yes in fact you are.
- johnfritz, on 05/31/2008, -2/+4This made the front page?
In other news, people are stopping for stop signs.- jpnadia, on 06/01/2008, -0/+2And obeying the speed limit?
- unlimitedcash, on 05/31/2008, -3/+2They forgot Columbia House- 6 DVD's for $.99
- wackyronpauI, on 05/31/2008, -3/+0They forgot to mention real estate on the plastic continent
http://digg.com/environment/Is_there_a_Solution_to ... - credential101, on 05/31/2008, -0/+9Here's my list of things that are always on sale:
1. Toilet Paper: Every supermarket or CVS or Rite Aid will always have toilet paper on sale.
2. Case of water: I can always get a case of Poland Spring for $5 or less from somewhere
3. Clothes: Look around enough and you will always find a 25-50% off sale
4. Computers: You can always get a cheap desktop for under $500 at just about anywhere.
5. Cereal: Look around enough and you will find a 2 or 3 boxes for $5 deal.- remccain, on 05/31/2008, -0/+82. Case of water: I can always get a case of Poland Spring for $5 or less from somewhere
Bottle water is not regulated. They could bottle sewage from New Jersey and sell it to you as "purified water" for $1.50 / 20oz and you'd never know.
Oh, wait.. Dasani, Evian and Dannon. Sewage from New Jersey, bottled for your pleasure.
Your municipal water supply is usually better than bottled water and if you have doubts, buy a good water filter for $99 and save your cash. When you think about it, only a moron would pay the same price for water as a soft drink. - credential101, on 05/31/2008, -1/+1Very true, but some people just like the convenience. Also, some people tend to drive away from paying $50+ on a water filter.
- remccain, on 05/31/2008, -0/+82. Case of water: I can always get a case of Poland Spring for $5 or less from somewhere
- TctclMvPhase, on 05/31/2008, -0/+2late pizza...
- bozodaclown51, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Guitars and most musical instruments also, but there are people out there that are foolish enough to pay full price (unless its a new model that they just got in like that day, but even then if you go to the right place you should still be able to get at least a free cable or something out of the deal)
- BigglesPiP, on 05/31/2008, -0/+2Sofas!
- duggdowncatisad, on 05/31/2008, -1/+4All of these things are ***** that people hardly ever buy, so no one knows what it should really cost, so the sellers go out of their way to make it as hard as possible to figure out what it should cost. If some gas station charged $12 a gallon and then had a Super Amazing 50 Percent Off Blowout Sale, everyone would know it's a scam. They can't get away with it like the mattress sellers do.
- rootsm3, on 05/31/2008, -0/+28. dignity
- skyz, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1sheets and towels are always on sale somewhere
- whataboutdave, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1I´m actually in the market for a mattress right now. Any of you Diggers have some recommendations? I live in the northeast US and I´m not picky at all.
- grovest4life, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Goodwill or dumpster diving.
- EEinOK, on 05/31/2008, -4/+0The phrase "on sale" is often misused. How about "for sale" instead.
- exomni, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Why actually misuse another word when you could just use an acceptable secondary meaning of the phrase "on sale".
- bdbr, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1They're not really "always on sale", but always can be discounted. I think most of us figured it out.
- IrishKeith, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1It's especially true about cars. Most people don't know how to negotiate very well when buying a used auto. She gave the best advice in this article, "be prepared to walk".
- ninjadeathcult, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1you all forgot RUGS whenever they are advertised its allways a close down sale with like 300% off
- nyeus, on 05/31/2008, -1/+1Hasn't weed always been on sale? I honestly thought they were gonna mention Pot.
- exomni, on 05/31/2008, -1/+26. Politicians.
- mCanada, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1They may not be on sale, but they are always available for purchase. See RIAA
- exomni, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1All of these things have huge ridiculous mark-ups to make people think they're getting a deal on something that's worth half what they end up paying, and an eighth of the marked price.
- surfslider, on 05/31/2008, -2/+0i got my sofa for 100 euros
http://tinyurl.com/5g5g2o - eleanorigby, on 05/31/2008, -0/+5 college is not on sale. wtf.
- bdbr, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Most of this stuff isn't "on sale", but can be reduced in price. Private schools (except really popular ones) will negotiate huge scholarships if you have excellent high school grades. There is also financial aid, scholarships, and grants - you need to have excellent grades and fairly poor parents to get them.
- eleanorigby, on 06/05/2008, -0/+0duh... I read the article
- bmcnally, on 05/31/2008, -0/+2Oh yeah, scholarships are great . . . until they raise the cost of tuition to completely negate any effect it had on the price.
- bdbr, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1Most of this stuff isn't "on sale", but can be reduced in price. - sadisticmind, on 05/31/2008, -2/+2I know one thing thats always on sale...YOUR MOM!
- bdbr, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1There's really a lot of advice that can apply to cars. The time of the year and month makes a difference. If you really want to save money, don't go after the most popular models. And those super-cheap prices in the paper DO exist; you have to get there very early (that's how we got both of ours, well below invoice price).
- Knowitallism, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1What about ZOO books, common its been over 10 years and we still get our free tiger poster!
- RoryKearney, on 05/31/2008, -0/+1The Bed Advice Sorely Sags
Beds are not alike. If you want a good bed, you need to get one with steel springs. Anything else will never stand the test of time. Once I saw how bad the advice was on beds, I skipped the rest. - KaJuN4, on 06/01/2008, -0/+2My bank account says that the sale on college education is a pretty crappy "sale".
- tee349, on 06/01/2008, -1/+1I AM SO ANGRY THEY COMBINED THE LAST TWO
- Spektr4, on 06/01/2008, -0/+1Hot Pockets. I don't think they have a not-on-sale price. Do they?
- sunnykaa, on 06/01/2008, -0/+0Is your business visible in China ?
For many reasons, foreign businesses often are invisible to China's 200 million Internet users.
Two major reasons are:
Many foreign businesses' websites are not accessible in China.
Baidu normally does not include foreign businesses' websites in its search results
Is your business visible in China ?
Check it on http://www.ac-baidu.com to find out. - ultar6, on 06/02/2008, -0/+0This article is truly pointless. Four of the five things that are 'always on sale' are in markets where the conditions are pre-set to screw the buyer. In the real estate market, no one but the buyer is looking to get the price lower. In the car market, no one but the buyer is looking to get the price lower, except for the buyer.
In the mattress market, the sellers are constantly claiming liquidation sales and going-out-of-business sales to convince the buyers that there's a deal to be had.
In that car-selling business, there are 'rebates', model-year 'closeouts', and unscrupulous salespeople who brag if they've managed to 'bury' a buyer in a car.
The exception is the college education. College educations are never on sale. There are scholarships. There are grants. That is, unless you're factoring scams like The University of Phoenix, predatory 'trade schools' like ITT, and a host of others charge lots of money for not much education. -
