- Pseudorious, on 07/02/2009, -9/+103I could swear that the Obama administration promised to keep unemployment under 8% if we gave him $700 billion to spend.
Here's the graph:
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_pOOiPE9atqM/SixHfmuFekI/ ... - JordanTW90, on 07/02/2009, -2/+84Only 7% of the stimulus has so far been spent.
Another 43% won't be spent until 2010. Why 2010 you ask? Oh that's when the democratic Congress will be up for re-election.
The more you know...☆ - skidork, on 07/02/2009, -6/+73Just think....each of those jobs belonged to a living, breathing, person! It's hard to care, because they're outside our monkeysphere.
- ThinkOutTheBox, on 07/02/2009, -10/+63And once again the government is lying. How the hell can 467,000 jobs get loss and the unemployment rate only jump .1%. Very very fuzzy math going on here. I know the markets aren't buying it. Peoples memories are getting longer and longer with every lie though.
- kemp34, on 07/02/2009, -11/+60Fallout from the predictable outcome of the Federal Reserve-inspired unnatural boom bust cycle continues...
- GQCarrick, on 07/02/2009, -1/+47The Sarcasm is strong with this one.
- arhseven, on 07/02/2009, -5/+42Thanks bailout!
-One of the jobless. - itstodd, on 07/02/2009, -11/+47Great job BO! You ***** rock! That stimilus package my kids have to pay for is just awesome! Lets spend more! We can definately keep spending until we are all rich! Idiot.
- randyzaia, on 07/02/2009, -7/+43I remember something about spending $700 billion to prevent this.
- khfn, on 07/02/2009, -0/+35I would suggest that the number of the jobless is actually higher since in most studies those who have been jobless past a certain amount of time or have stopped looking for work are not counted.
- boozedrinker, on 07/02/2009, -6/+41Obama actually said "the stimulus plan is working" - YEAH RIGHT. http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2009/05 ...
Remember when he promised to keep or create 3.5 million jobs by 2010? *****. We're in the hole on this one.
Remember when he promised "under my administration, those that make less than $200,000 a year will not see any increased taxes? WE JUST PASSED THE BIGGEST ENERGY TAX EVER IN THE HOUSE (in fact, the biggest increase in history), NOW IT'S IN THE SENATE. And it will affect absolutely EVERYBODY.
Obama also said “in a country as rich as ours, there is no reason everyone shouldn’t have aceess to healthcare”. RICH?! WE ARE BROKE! WE ARE IN THE HOLE AND BORROW MONEY FROM CHINA EVERYDAY!
I can't believe people are surprised that a Democrat is spending money we don't have. Obama is a ***** liar just like the rest of them - methdwman3, on 07/02/2009, -34/+68Sorry I need to bury this article - Obama promised with passage of the "stimulus" package, unemployment would not go above 8%. Clearly, the Messiah would not lie, so this article must be false.
- borez, on 07/02/2009, -3/+37Recovery? I see no recovery.
- GQCarrick, on 07/02/2009, -4/+343/4 of Digg voted for him.
- Plopfish, on 07/02/2009, -0/+30It is clearly stated in the article:
"If laid-off workers who have given up looking for new jobs or have settled for part-time work are included, the unemployment rate would have been 16.5 percent in June, the highest on records dating to 1994." - mgraves81, on 07/02/2009, -13/+41Well I don't know why everyone is complaining. Just think 467000 is nothing compared to all the jobs Obama "saved."
- GrodyChamp, on 07/02/2009, -14/+41I thought the stimulus was supposed to prevent this. Duped again!
- tpmidd, on 07/02/2009, -21/+48What happened to the stimulus?
Remember when Obama said that Unemployment wouldn't go over 8% if that bill went through?
We have a snake oil salesman for President.
Bravo, whoever voted for him! - ThinkOutTheBox, on 07/02/2009, -2/+26Yep, and that means they are lying. They are manipulating the numbers to try to paint a rosier picture. True unemployment numbers are probably around 16 to 20%.
They are cherry picking the data. It doesn't make what they are saying true. - smartnerd666, on 07/02/2009, -0/+24I guess I should stop bitching about how much I hate mine
- punx, on 07/02/2009, -5/+273/4 of digg users don't work, either. So it makes sense, huh?
- Solkre, on 07/02/2009, -0/+22I don't care about a source, he has the flying star.
- gtluke, on 07/02/2009, -9/+31Change you can believe in
- Pseudorious, on 07/02/2009, -3/+24Unemployment does not measure discouraged workers or the underemployed.
One must be actively seeking a job or hold one to be in the denominator i.e. the labor pool. - duncan202, on 07/02/2009, -1/+22Ok I'll bite,
That's a pretty ***** insanely expensive predicition to get wrong. - Bloodwine, on 07/02/2009, -0/+21Employment may be a lagging indicator, but I don't know how economists can say our recession is getting better with a straight face.
- Mightbiteyou, on 07/02/2009, -1/+21give me 700 billion and I can keep 4 million people employed for the next for years making $43,750 a year
- Plopfish, on 07/02/2009, -2/+22FTA:
If laid-off workers who have given up looking for new jobs or have settled for part-time work are included, the unemployment rate would have been 16.5 percent in June, the highest on records dating to 1994. - inactive, on 07/02/2009, -2/+21I'm still looking for one of the five million coal cleaning jobs.
- Shwaavay, on 07/02/2009, -2/+21THEY TOOK OUR JEEERBS!!!
- LTJDangle, on 07/02/2009, -1/+20Now that Obama has fixed the economy and job market. its time to tackle health care.
- GQCarrick, on 07/02/2009, -12/+30What an awesome job the current administration is doing on the job front!
- YZBot, on 07/02/2009, -5/+23How about that stimulus!?
- cowsgonemadd3, on 07/02/2009, -0/+17I lost my job 4 months ago....not fun.
- JordanTW90, on 07/02/2009, -1/+18Because the internet defines a luxurious standard of living.
For me, the internet might as well be my transportation. Its hard to work online without it. - sockpuppets, on 07/02/2009, -2/+18The first rule of monkeysphere club is to not talk about monkeysphere club.
- zephc, on 07/02/2009, -5/+21All I an say is: http://bit.ly/19HRo3
- Spamorama, on 07/02/2009, -2/+17Did the economy died?
- temsi, on 07/02/2009, -2/+17In the real world, the best systems have a mix of both.
Here in the US, we have had a mix of both for decades.
First responders, public schools, streets and highways, post office, armed forces...
These are all "social" programs paid for with our tax dollars.
By the strictest right wing definition, they're "socialism".
Do you want to privatize the military or police? Do you want to privatize the fire department?
Do you want your house to burn down because you let your fire insurance lapse?
Do you want your 911 call to go unanswered because you didn't pay your monthly 911 bill?
There are many successful and necessary social programs in effect. Just because something is "public" or "social" doesn't automatically make it bad or evil - or even communist. - ProKid, on 07/02/2009, -4/+18Thats a lot of jobs lost. Countries still hurting.
- mycutepetpics, on 07/02/2009, -2/+16I have said this many time in the past and I can not believe, I have to repeat it again.
The "Messiah" was not coined by nobody else but 'Louis Farrakhan' and his listeners, back in October of 2008. After that people did pick up on it and started repeating it but it was 'Farrakhan', who coined the phrase.

Or
http://www.google.com/search?q=farrakhan+obama+mes ... - JordanTW90, on 07/02/2009, -0/+13Sure. First, Recovery.gov reports that only about $55 billion has been spent.
Second: http://www.centerdigitalgov.com/mt/market_pulse/st ...
I can't find the original MSNBC source of how much the stimulus adds to each year's deficit, but the chart above goes with the numbers. The amount to be spent in 2010, according to the original MSNBC number was $350 billion. The chart above shows $250 billion, but its the difference of which year's budget the money actually comes from. - methdwman3, on 07/02/2009, -1/+14He revised it AFTER passage of the stimulus package.
- kemp34, on 07/02/2009, -6/+19Not nearly to the extant that there is with the serial bubble floating Fed. And the major booms and busts of past centuries were related to similar central banking behavior.
In a modern technological and information society such as ours, there should be no major depression-like situations such as what we face. The Fed inspired internet and then housing booms-busts (which were blatantly ridiculous when analyzed through any historical valuation procedure) have helped debauch the entire economy. - MWeather, on 07/02/2009, -1/+14Integrity is a small price to pay if you had none to begin with.
- ibBSODin, on 07/02/2009, -4/+17bahaha recovery, what dimension is this lady living in
- Bloodwine, on 07/02/2009, -1/+14Hopefully the Senate squashes the Climate bill.
The House is notorious for passing just about any crazy-ass bill under the sun. I don't know if they have ever met a bill they didn't like. - skidork, on 07/02/2009, -1/+13I'm sorry to hear that, man...or woman.
- punx, on 07/02/2009, -5/+16Yeah so they can hold it back, then spend it just in time for 2010 elections. Don't act like you aren't an obama hack, you have been all over this page posting ***** from mediamatters, more obamaboys. STFU.
- prrp, on 07/02/2009, -0/+11Not to mention the inherent immorality of what the fed does. It is essentially theft - a hidden tax on the people. And the motive is clear... how in the world could the US pay back all the debt? They can't. And they know it. So, they inflate in order to not only decrease the value of the debt, but also to pay for things that they have no money for. In order to promise the people of this democracy all of the "stuff" that the US can't afford, they MUST get the money from somewhere. No one will vote for taxation. Everyone will vote for "free" stuff.
