Apply directly to the forehead - bossm4n, on 12/23/2007, -5/+211So roughly 2 minutes out of 30 are news, the majority of which could have been read on digg the day before and will be read again in a few days when a dupe story gets posted.
- inactive, on 12/23/2007, -2/+147Go figure! I'm amazed there isn't more celebrity coverage in the pie chart... guess that magic non-celebrity 30 minute period was used. :P
- danrdanny, on 12/23/2007, -1/+127Further proof that most TV news is worthless.
- georgemason01, on 12/23/2007, -13/+119All you need is one color for the whole chart which would correspond to the category of mind-numbing propaganda.
- notque, on 12/23/2007, -2/+68Because if they sold the same crap Internationally, everyone would laugh and no one would watch. They have to use subtler forms of lies, to slowly move the population in their direction.
If you just came out and gave them fox news, they'd just laugh and mock. - imnojezus, on 12/23/2007, -4/+58Ooh... I don't know. That would require one of us to actually sit through an entire half hour of Fox. Believe me, I've tried. My brain started dissolving around the 10 minute mark. I still have a metallic taste in my mouth and I have trouble remembering the Bill of Rights.
- cyberdork, on 12/23/2007, -1/+51How come CNN International is so completely different from CNN USA and Headline News?
- Somnabot, on 12/23/2007, -3/+53Somebody: please do one for Fox.
- SquigglyP, on 12/23/2007, -1/+47The ***** up thing is that there is enough going on in the world for the actual news content for a 30 minute slice of CNN to be 100% news. Unfortunately, the only time they ever devote more then 5 minutes talking about something like Iraq or Iran or Darfur or anything else of any kind of importance is when they do their 'editorial' news pieces where they get talking heads to bitch about *****. You get 5 minutes worth of facts and then an hour of people arguing over whether the facts they just released will affect people's opinions of the war / elections / some other drama-queen ***** going on in washington. I think most political news should come on during daytime TV... it could compete with Soap Operas.
- inactive, on 12/23/2007, -5/+46All TV news is worthless unless its PBS or Democracy Now - and sometimes the international outlets like CNNI and BBC are passable, but rarely.
- higgs, on 12/23/2007, -0/+38No. It's even worse than that! It's not 2 minutes of news it's 2 minutes of news announcements. Bullet points with no content.
- inactive, on 12/23/2007, -2/+39Apply directly to the forehead?
- Betrayer, on 12/23/2007, -0/+35This isnt just CNN... all of my local "NEWS" stations are about even with your graph.
So your news is, there is no news... thanks for that news - Grommy, on 12/23/2007, -1/+34http://www.flickr.com/photos/billybobphotos/212941 ...
Breakdown of the 30 minute session. - pimpbot1979, on 12/23/2007, -9/+39More like 'Headline Snooze.'
I really hate myself. Please end this writer's strike soon. - biggoron318, on 12/23/2007, -1/+26I'd like to apply that product directly THROUGH their foreheads.
- notque, on 12/23/2007, -0/+25And no Context.
- chris9902, on 12/23/2007, -6/+29because they have to dumb it down for it to sell.
- zippy757, on 12/23/2007, -7/+30...and how is this different that DIGG ? I lthink DIGG would be something like:
25% Bush Sucks
25% Impeach Chaney
25% I love Ron Paul
25% Religion Sucks - inactive, on 12/23/2007, -0/+23Even more brilliant, their commercials are deliberately designed to give you a headache, thus necessitating their product.
- Burdell1, on 12/23/2007, -2/+25Head On
Apply directly to the forehead - InfamousAtheist, on 12/23/2007, -0/+21I'm a little surprised the self-promotion and commercial time is less than 50%.
I hate cable news. - lintmonkey, on 12/23/2007, -2/+22http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/6715/24hoursdig ...
- tdkyo, on 12/23/2007, -2/+225 minutes with NPR's hourly news summary > 30 minutes with CNN's Headline News
http://www.npr.org/ - krusader3z, on 12/23/2007, -0/+18Apply directly to the forehead,
- mpn401, on 12/23/2007, -0/+18Head On is availible without a prescription at retailers nationwide.
- Ilyanep, on 12/23/2007, -1/+18I'm sorry that I refuse to honor your imaginary friend with a capital letter.
- farstar, on 12/23/2007, -5/+21NPR ftw. Seriously, if you've never listened to it, give it a chance. Unbiased and in-depth analysis. Very educational.
- TheMidnight, on 12/23/2007, -0/+15Head On, your commercial is so annoying, but your product works great! Also try ActiveOn. ActiveOn! Apply directly where it hurts!
- aoru, on 12/23/2007, -1/+16A Britney Spears related story must occur every 15 minutes, followed by a missing not ugly white girl the hotter she is the more coverage she should receive, followed by video games murdering people, maybe a 3 week special investigation into the pepper sprayed beauty queen, then we get to hear about how Hilary Clinton got a pedicure yesterday,.Hype the ferocity of the upcoming election with a championship boxing press conference like attitude, only include pictures of Romney, Guliani, Obama, and Clinton though with captions similar to "The gloves are off!, Elbows are sharpened, Holding back no more!" throwing in a vs. sign helps too , A new miracle diet: Can eating chocolate make you lose weight? Tune in after to the break to find out how. Yup, that pretty much sums it up.
- gak001, on 12/23/2007, -1/+16And now you know why I rarely bother to get my news from television anymore.
- fullphaser, on 12/23/2007, -1/+15Just goes to show, that there commercial is perfect, that is what? 5 comments following perfectly with the dialog, their Marketing department is brilliant.
- posture, on 12/23/2007, -0/+13We will give you your money back!
- andrewry, on 12/23/2007, -3/+16Was I the only one that thought when it said "Clinton woos women voters", it meant Bill Clinton?
- inactive, on 12/23/2007, -0/+12my problem is that we are not asking them to sell that crap to the world but selling the international stuff to the American. Seriously the American version is ***** up.
- 69Liters, on 12/23/2007, -2/+14Yeah, but back in February and March of this year it was 99% Anna Nicole Smith and 1% Segue to more coverage of Anna Nicole Smith. So in a way it's better now.
- inactive, on 12/23/2007, -2/+13Seriously the international edition is not that bad. What the hell is wrong with the American version?
- Nougat, on 12/23/2007, -0/+11The only news I bother watching on TV is "it's happening right now" - like presidential speeches, election returns, and CSPAN.
I get solid news from NPR. - credential101, on 12/23/2007, -1/+11It's all Infotainment:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infotainment - BevansDesign, on 12/23/2007, -1/+11That commercial is actually brilliant. 2 years ago, nobody had ever heard of the stuff, and now it's a household name. AND everyone kinda knows what it does, and everyone certainly knows how to use it.
- inactive, on 12/23/2007, -2/+12American TV news is worthless. if you want real news then watch the BBC.
- openaddy, on 12/23/2007, -1/+11Comments on flickr has a post showing what the individual segments were in the 30 minutes. You're right, no celebrity in sight.. Amazing for CNN. ;)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/billybobphotos/212941 ... - UtopiaInTheSky, on 12/23/2007, -2/+12But, but, but... Robin Meade is so hot!
- IllBeBack, on 12/23/2007, -0/+9I have no idea what it is for. The commercial makes no mention of its use. What is it for?
- mediaspree, on 12/23/2007, -1/+9Or digg
- jsd8cc, on 12/23/2007, -1/+9There's a difference between propaganda and simply satiating the lowest common denominator.
- joe8pack, on 12/23/2007, -2/+10They have not yet figured out how to successfully add the apathy drugs to the water supplies overseas, as the project is concluded this will be the final goal. The Europeans must have their curiosity quenched so that they can be successful brain-dead consumers
- rs99, on 12/23/2007, -1/+9You know, you could make the same type pie chart of digg and it wouldn't look much better.
