- jollyholly, on 10/10/2007, -1/+21I'm not a big fan of the slideshow format.
So what makes these people the "coolest" entrepreneurs under 30? I haven't heard of any of them or their companies - how cool could they possibly be?? :) - Lane5slacker, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15God, the slideshow sucks. I'm halfway down the little blurb and the page starts to reload...
- bmdhacks, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13If anyone is curious how these people made it to this list, here's how it works: A month or two before the article is written, Inc. Magazine sends a notice out to all the PR agencies it does business with describing it's editorial calendar. When PR agencies see a client of theirs that matches the topic, they submit it to the magazine. Depending on how much the client has paid, they may submit it with a personal visit and dog-and-pony show. Otherwise they just email the author or editor who they probably have a business relationship with due to past articles.
Anyways, if you are an entrepreneur under 30 and are wondering why they never put you on this article, it's all about PR, and specifically all about selecting a good PR agency, and then paying them a lot of money. It's unlikely that Inc. did any research for this article at all, but instead just put it on their calendar and waited to be contacted by all their PR contacts. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+13Kevin Rose isn't "under 30." He *is* 30.
- twilightzone, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10#29 is 30 years old.
So is #26 - doctorfungi, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9No, he's not. He's not THAT great.
- WarpFox, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9No he's not, Kevin Rose is only 29. .... and 18 months.
- woogley, on 10/10/2007, -6/+15dugg for lack of kevin rose
buried for slideshow format
it all works itself out - Flipperbw, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10thats amazing, I actually know Ben Sann. Very good kid. None of you care but this is amazing to me.
- steve06000, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6What I want to know is what kind of upbringing a kid has to have to be selling office furniture from his bedroom at age 14.
- Birdoftruth, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8Its not hard, all it takes is an idea and the execution of it. Most people have the former but not the latter.
- kyleforeman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Being a "Cool" Entrepreneur does not mean making money
- SirBriggs, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You can pause it anytime then control it manually.
- spartyms2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Insomnia Cookies sucks. We just got one at Michigan State University last year. That place will no doubt be out of business in no time. It's always a ghost town.
It's extremely overpriced and the cookies aren't even half as good as those "Break n' Bake" things you can get at the grocery store. - fkr3, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I was really amazed he wasn't on this list. I was sitting here with nausea building the closer I got to #1 thinking it was going to be another made-for-digg circlejerk... but for the second time in my life I was wrong!
- purplepeople, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2What's with this trend of sites with the top X whatever things and having one on each page? Like I can be bothered pressing Next so many times ...
- scabbers, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Why am I not in the least bit surprised?
- trollick, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Some of them have revenue smaller than my salary. Those are some bad entrepreneurs.
- nottanner, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Buried because of the ridiculous one person per page setup
- bubbadoo989, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Just as I thought, .Inc is part of the Bush administration's system of mis-information.
- scabbers, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Blah blah Kevin Rose. It is a good example of how retarded that list is, though. I'm willing to bet $2 that half of those jackasses haven't turned a profit.
- jspegele, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Is he still under 30?
- HanSolo69, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1These are all things that sound like they will go out of business within the year rather than make the millions they're projecting. the only worthwhile and useful venture seems like the oxygen machine.
- hrhs556x, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Arn't the Facebook guys under 30?
- jesdy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1only $2? I guess your jackass self "haven't turned a profit" either
- johnburk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1How was this list made? I have more revenue than most of companies on this list and I am 25! What kind of b****** list is this?
- quux, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2One the same note, where the fsck are Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and J. L. Kraft?
While two are no longer under 30 (and one of them is dead), I don't give a rats ass! They all were under 30 when they founded their companies.
I want them on the list because I'm a fanboi. And I like cheese. - merper, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Agreed - the only really interesting one was that air-oxygen tank refiller. Everything else, I wish them success, but meh, not exactly as cool as the title says.
- williamjones, on 08/24/2008, -0/+1 According to many experts who studied various entrepreneurs, if you can think like an entrepreneur you have a high chance of succeeding in any form of business.Confidence is one trait that you need to become an entrepreneur. You must have this trait as early as possible but don’t worry if you’re not that confident yet because you can still develop that just in time before you get involved in any business.
New groups of wholesalers, manufacturers and drop shippers are added every day. Most importantly the database is screened and updated weekly to make sure the wholesaler information is correct, accurate and up to date. This is a fantastic way to stay up to date with all the latest fashion trends! In today's world you can start a retail business with a very less investment .In this dollardays store are the best, they are providing world class product at very low wholesale rate.where in retail business you can earn good profit over the product. For the buying you can also visit there site http://www.dallardays.com place the order, rest of the thing they will do. - TeriyakiDelight, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1http://www.inc.com/30under30/2007/
Link with everyone on the same page. - jrs2010, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2where the heck is Zuckerberg, of Facebook, he's only 24
- psyjoniz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1slideshow sucks
- whisperedlie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1late night cookie business? yet _another_ social community? maps of parking garages? oh please. I mean, don't get me wrong: if you find a niche and can make money out of it, that's great. i have nothing but best wishes for honest business owners. however, that list was pretty freaking unspectacular and boring. the only thing incredible about those businesses is that some of them are actually making money.
- fuzzyhobbit, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Zuckerberg was on last year's list.
- skidooer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0The first one certainly isn't getting rich. Even if we assume there are absolutely no expenses (which obviously isn't true), it's still amounts to only $33K per person per year profit.
- horscategorie, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I'm sure you know but just didn't make clear: revenue is all money taken in by a business. These reported revenues are their gross sales. This doesn't factor in salary at any point. Although the OP's comment is agreeably stupid, you're not being completely clear either.
- tomchuk, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Number 3 last year:
http://www.inc.com/slideshow_INC/slideviewer.cgi?list=30under30&slide=26 - LordMiL, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0If this is the same kid I heard about on the news a couple years back, (I'm pretty sure it is) his dad actually owns and operates a large furniture store and gave him the money to startup a web based furniture store of his own. I remember finding it strange that the two companies seemed to be totally unrelated rather than the new store just being the online face of the existing business.
- kinerry, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1You don't even need a great idea. Look at McDonald's and Oprah.
- figshta, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1The slide show can be controlled.... I was looking for Kevin Rose too... it was fun and a little bit inspiring.
- jackyyll, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Oh god that took me a second... It's too early :( *cough*
- bubbadoo989, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Um, ok. Thanks for your input.
- Tmax88, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0That's not surprising. What is, is no asians
- bubbadoo989, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Revenue and salary are two different things, ass-wipe. While you're sniveling, groveling, and pleasing your overlord of a boss, these folks are, as they say, "their own bosses."
Just so you know, expenses of all sorts come out of revenue; what isn't eaten by expenses can be used as salary (which is itself an expense). The idea is, if the business grows, these revenue numbers will rise an order of magnitudes over what they are now... and considering most of these are very small, early stage businesses, they can experience some wild growth. - blammo, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1WRONG. Inc.com had a completely open, online nomination process for 30 Under 30. Anybody could apply online, and users voted on who they liked best. It was then up to the editors to choose the list.
Why don't you learn what you're talking about before posting insipid, speculative comments. - Beaver6813, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Kevin won't count as young anymore next year, does that mean he'll be "old"?
- jmpeagle, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2he's old news though, he was on these lists for the past few years
- Donald2007, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1No African-Americans-- isn't that racist?
- bubbadoo989, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1Um, you're right, WE (I) don't care about you and who you know. In fact, you *****, next time you feel the need to troll somewhere, go ***** yourself...
Oh, I'm sorry, my medication has worn off. - apr35, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1where the F is K-Rose? he may be 30 now, but wasn't when digg got it's start, which I know probably doesnt matter, but i don't care
