- inactive, on 08/06/2008, -2/+56Average IT salary over $100,000 these nuts.
- toki123, on 08/06/2008, -3/+52Buried as inaccurate. Citing the top of the field salaries does not make them well paying jobs.
- AngelX, on 08/06/2008, -5/+49Dugg for all 25 being on one page.
- t3hmyth, on 08/06/2008, -4/+42That foot picture scared the ***** out of me when I first caught a glimpse at it.
Also, why does the proctologist look like Christopher Walken? - ericthegreat, on 08/06/2008, -0/+38An average of $103,400 is the IT management average according to all the industry salary studies I've read. Not the overall average.
- Jektal, on 08/06/2008, -0/+36This could almost be an episode list for Dirty Jobs
- protodon, on 08/06/2008, -1/+37Yeah I don't know anyone who would sit in a cubicle for 100,000 a year, oh wait I could ask all the people who do it for half that!
- leerayIG88, on 08/06/2008, -1/+31As a former stripper, I made tons of money in one night.
- inactive, on 08/06/2008, -2/+31The ARMY? Are u kiddn me? As a Sgt in the Marines, i qualified for foodstamps having one kid. Does the Army make that much more?
- BOFH2, on 08/06/2008, -0/+22System administrator here
You get to see light? - BitKid, on 08/06/2008, -0/+21his diploma says Christopher Walken.
- misterteenwolf, on 08/06/2008, -1/+21if you're single and have no kids, being a construction worker is awesome. i get paid very well and have all the hours i want. you get to be active all day (depending on what you do) so you stay in good shape. just my two cents

- soulsucca, on 08/06/2008, -0/+16Did I just install WordPress?
- Iztikeit, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1440K isn't great in the states but it's certainly a very livable wage without many/any children.
But 40k in San Fransisco won't get you very far but 40k in Wyoming is living the high life. - GoatMonkey2112, on 08/06/2008, -0/+13Well you wouldn't have much of a personality either if you had to spend all of your time working with *****.
- fpol3, on 08/06/2008, -1/+14"I would $50,000 worth of crabs in an 8 week period job."
verb =
1. ***** (very impressive)
2. snort (not the same as $50,000 worth of cocaine)
oh fun it's like the mad-libs! - o5rob5o, on 08/06/2008, -1/+13What a common sense list,
Commission Sales earn alot the more they sell
Foot doctors earn alot because theres so few
Iraq Private Security earns alot because who wants to goto Iraq
Truck Drivers earn alot because they are never home
and the rest are cases in which you can earn alot of money if your managing people of the same job or devote your existence to it and work alot of hours - azyfz, on 08/06/2008, -0/+12The armed forces all have the same pay grades. E-1, E-2, E-3 and so on.
- Sneezyx, on 08/06/2008, -0/+12My cousin is a proctologist. He has no personality, but he does own (and fly) his own plane.
- UnFriendlyFire, on 08/06/2008, -0/+11I'm going to show my boss #6. High paying?
- Conwaysb0718, on 08/06/2008, -0/+11PX privileges... HA... oh look, discount maternity wear for pint-sized Filipino women... Huzzah!
- zerhynn, on 08/06/2008, -0/+11Welcome to your wordpress installation.
- asnider, on 08/06/2008, -0/+11Interesting article, but is $40,000ish really a good annual salary in the US? In Canada, it's not great (not bad, but not great). Maybe that's because our taxes are a lot higher, though.
- damnitdaniel, on 08/06/2008, -0/+11I job worth crabs period $50,000 in would an.
...fixed it for you. - toolboxnj, on 08/06/2008, -1/+12Accountant doesn't mention you don't see the light of day from October through April. Maybe that's why we're overlooked?
- bombayterror, on 08/06/2008, -1/+12kinda true. I am an IT recruiter who works on base + commissions. Commission based jobs always sound unattractive but trust me they are big.... those small $'s add up. A yearly six figure earning is easily do-able
- roomforpanic, on 08/06/2008, -0/+10...you'd be shuddering for other reasons.
- leerayIG88, on 08/06/2008, -0/+10what kind of nuts are you talking about?
- inactive, on 08/06/2008, -0/+10You would what?
- sergiolopes, on 08/06/2008, -0/+9Dugg up for not splitting a list into pages!
- HHP2K, on 08/06/2008, -0/+9The Commissioned Salesperson one is great, I'm working on 100% commission - but I don't work with cars, boats, investment banks or electronics stores. The real money - in excess of 200 - 300,000 dollars / year - is in headhunting. ;)
- skidoooo, on 08/06/2008, -1/+10I hate being a trainee embalmer i have to do most of what the fully qualified ones do for half the money..
- dhughes, on 08/06/2008, -1/+10 I live on an island that's mostly rural with lots of farming and fishing outside the capital city.
I did read the disclaimer at the start of the article but still...you can't just decide to become a crab fisherman, you have to get a license which may cost a million dollars most are 'given out' in a lottery type draw, a crab boat even a small fiberglass boat may set you back $250,000 to $500,000 then add the electronics and engine to that, fuel is very expensive, government quotas also keep your catch down too, a crew to pay. You may break even in ten years.
If your going to fish crab you should be your own boss since working for someone else, doing what they say and working when they need you (not when you need money), is not very profitable even if it's well paying.
What's really profitable is the Bluefin Tuna fishery, you get a boat which is still expensive but if you catch one fish per day (the current quota in my area) you could make a good profit. Some Bluefin Tuna weigh 1000 pounds (453kg) can sell at the dock for $30 a pound. You're pretty much guaranteed to sell it, people from Japan are waiting for you at the dock!
Another well paying job is a police officer, here in Canada the RCMP (for those in the US think State Police + FBI) make about $70,000 per year pretty much right off the bat and the RCMP needs 1000 recruits a month to replace the Boomers retiring.
Roughneck is OK if you're a big guy and aren't too fond of all your fingers, I've seen a lot of Roughneck friends missing a finger or two. - toetagger, on 08/06/2008, -7/+16The way your dad looked at it, this watch was your birthright. He'd be damned if any of the slopes were gonna get their greasy yellow hands on his boy's birthright. So he hid it in the one place he knew he could hide something: his ass. Five long years, he wore this watch, up his ass. Then when he died of dysentery, he gave me the watch. I hid this uncomfortable piece of metal up my ass for two years. Then, after seven years, I was sent home to my family. And now, little man, I give the watch to you.
- Japskunk, on 08/06/2008, -1/+10Are you sure your not taking the "Management" part into consideration? Cause in my experience, they are usually way over paid!
- StarWarsFever, on 08/06/2008, -1/+10I would have no problem being a garbage man for $80k/year
- scoottie, on 08/06/2008, -0/+9Unionized deli clerk
not sure why but that made me laugh - bushout, on 08/06/2008, -0/+8No, and using this http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_much_money_does_a_ga ... as a reference is BS
- AngelaQ, on 08/06/2008, -0/+8Wordpress install doesn't work. I guess I can't start a blog on their site.
- jgatz, on 08/06/2008, -8/+16dugg because people often think they are too good for jobs and then complain they have no money and run up debt trying to fit in
- whorunbartertwn, on 08/06/2008, -1/+9Military pay charts from 2007 are here: http://www.militaryconnection.com/2007-pay-charts/ ...
Without attempting to dive in the very complex issue of what is a job that can cost a life worth etc. (and yes I served) you have:
Even a lower ranking sergeant should be pulling in at least $2k per month base.
Basic Allowance for Subsistence is about $300/month
Basic Allowance for Housing depends where you live it's over $1000/month here in Phoenix with dependents
Right there is about $40k annually, plus you get free medical care, free dental, 30 days leave per year, education bennies, various bonus combat pay, retirement pay if you're a lifer, etc. - whorunbartertwn, on 08/06/2008, -0/+8I don't think it's a case of "too good" I'm sure not judging someone who cleans sewers as any lesser of a person, it's just that it sounds like a disgusting miserable way to spend 1/3 of your life.
I'm a software developer and I'm sure there are plenty who couldn't image sitting in a cubicle doing what I do all day either, I can respect that. - sandiegodude, on 08/06/2008, -0/+8I'm a #6 here. I have great benefits, a great salary and plenty of job security (and the IT industry is only expanding more and more) Granted my job isn't one you can get off the street (4 years of college + 3 years of being an IT helpdesk before I landed my current gig) the years of work are definitely paying off.... plus I spend all day on Digg =)
- gametavern, on 08/06/2008, -0/+8Well you got Ice Road Truckers, Black Gold, and Deadliest Catch covered.
- kylejn, on 08/06/2008, -0/+8I know that I want to see Mike Rowe work alongside an accountant or IT employee!
