- gr3yn3t, on 10/10/2007, -2/+26The article is NOT about piracy, so _please_ stop telling the world how you rent/borrow/download movies for free.
- Butt3rs, on 10/10/2007, -10/+33Oh My God! Bittorrent is illigal...don't you two know anything?
sweet, the simpons movie is half way done!
did i just say that out loud? - navitatl, on 10/10/2007, -5/+23Wow. It's funny how you wasted all your time writing that, and I can render it completely useless with the following sentence:
DVD-ROM Movies, not DVD-Rs. - badarabdad, on 10/10/2007, -2/+18netflix.dvddecryptor.nero recode(or dvdshrink).
- Kyouto, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11The Godfather for $10.99? We sell it at target for $9.99 everyday. And about every 3 weeks or so it goes on sale for $7.50.
- scabbers, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7You really have to watch out for counterfeit DVDs on eBay.
- emjaymj, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6He's talking about DVD-R's. Pressed DVD movies, out of the case, will last much longer than writable DVD-R's. Keep them in good condition instead of relying on backups and you won't have too many problems.
- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6That you burned yourself?
It's an issue with burned discs, not stamped. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8#1 No one gives a Rats Ass
#2 Bittorrent - thejokker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5why do you need to buy the movies, how often do you watch the same one? NETFLIX is simple and i dont need to find a place to store all of the disks.
- saucercrab, on 10/10/2007, -5/+10I can't believe Netflix wasn't on that list. The selection isn't all that robust, but you can find some used DVDs (with the cases) on there from $5.99!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -5/+10And you've got to be some kind of moron. I've had DVDs that I can still watch from 1997.
Perhaps you're just not as smart as you seem to think you are. - awhiteflame, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Uh. I don't.
Not for moral reasons or anything, it's just too long of a download. I'll just get in a car, take the 2 minutes to rent the movie, and drive back if I have to wait the length of a movie in order to download it. And since I only need to watch a movie once, I haven't ever bothered to copy a rented film. - ohmar, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5HA! I got the whole Rambo series, and right now i am actually watching lemony snicket's series of unfortunate events that I got at walmart in that bin. Definitely Most excellent!
- signal15, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4http://www.inetdvd.com is a good place to get cheap DVD's. They are mostly preowned or rental returns, but who cares as long as the movie plays. They run all of their DVD's through a refinisher before selling them also, so there is a perfect scratch/scuff free surface on them.
- OneManArmy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3for folks in the EU I recommend play.com. Almost all of the their DVDs are under 10 euros except for new releases. Shipping is free too, even on single DVDs.
- pjs1840, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7Hmm I don't think I've ever paid sticker price for a DVD. If I ever do feel the need to buy them, I do the 4 pre-owned DVD's for $20 deal at the local Blockbuster.
- hardcle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Deep Discount is the best for new DVDs because their shipping is always free. It's hardly worth it to buy used anymore, the prices drop so quickly. I'd rather spend a little more to get a new copy so I don't have to worry about how the previous owner treated their DVDs.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+216 Netflix per month at $24.95 and16 more movies in my collection. That is $1.55 per movie.
- modifiedbears, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You can watch a lot of movies dirt cheap if you are patient. I never understand the need to be first to watch something. Congratulations on your major accomplishment of getting to the theater and sitting down for a couple hours. Only you and millions of others were capable of such a great feat.
- plbland, on 10/10/2007, -5/+7#1 shhhhhhhhh
#2 bittorent - contradictator, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4Did you just say that out loud? If so, is your pronunciation as bad as your spelling?
Next time, if you want to seem clever, try the "check spelling" button before you submit, it's not ILLEGAL. - NickDaddyKing, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2i have the same 'problem' i go to peru every summer and buy like 20 movies for 45 soles,(15 bucks) and now i have readable games for my wii!!! life is sweet
- Thorpe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2How about using a price comparison site? For the UK they have http://www.dvdsearchuk.com and it compares prices across many stores.
- Mattevil, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5dvdpricesearch.com is good because they'll include shipping fees
- leif77, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Half of the movies i own have a hollywood video barcode on them. They usually have 2 month old movies in the 3 for 25 racks. The rest of the movies i have i get at best buy. They have decent prices on older movies. If i liked a movie enough in theaters ill get it when it comes out. That is the only time ill ever pay full price for a movie.
- MikeMacMan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I've had the same exact problem. I have 100s of DVD-/+Rs and most of them from a few years ago have gone bad. I have also switched to TY media with hopes that they will last. Only time will tell for me...
- bdbr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The best way to get them cheap is to wait. DVDs are horribly overpriced when they first come out.
- KingGorilla, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Sticker prices are for chumps
- NickDaddyKing, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2thank you for saying this...
- mikochu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I remember the days of reel.com and their daily movie trivia that got you discounts... sigh
- loneraven, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Time? It takes me ten minutes to rip and shrink (thanks to DVD Shrink and AnyDVD running in the background) and maybe 5-10 minutes to burn. I can do this all the while I'm browsing digg or something. It's called multi-tasking... well not even that, the computer does most of the work.
If your time is that valuable to you, then why do you spend your time on digg? - accn112, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1china for less than $2
- astrotrain, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah the 'hotest' movies now on DVD will be in the bargain bin about five years... it all depends on who wants to wait that long.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3i think its french
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1my public library has a HUGE collection of movies. for free.
- INHUMANITY, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I've been using www.dvdpricesearch.com for years with great results. I search for prices there before I buy any DVD's.
- desmondregan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1number 11 go down to the chinese dollar store and buy them for 4 dollars #12 download them. nuff said
- darkamster07, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1blockbuster is doing a pretty sweet online deal where you not only get free movie coupons, but every time you return a mailed movie to the store you get one free, it all adds up to a ton of rented movies for relatively low $ if you are into renting. Then you could just rip them all, or you could use bittorrent ;)
- SupaDawg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Screw ordering online and paying shipping. I walked into HMV yesterday. Got both MID movies for $10, the die-hard trilogy for $20 and 3 harry potter moves for $12/ea.
In canada, between blockbuster, best buy and hmv, you have no need to buy dvds online. - whoisKeel, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I can vouch for Deep Discount and DVD Planet. Twice (?) a year Deep Discount runs a 20% off sale which is incredible, for those of us who actually buy movies.
- electricmba, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The title of this article should be "10 websites where you can buy cheap DVDs". Doesn't really reveal any concrete "way" of buying them cheap as the title suggests.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1A hundred a month on DVDs?
- donb01, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I usually buy my new releases at Wal-Mart on the Tuesday they come out - they generally discount them to around $15 or $16.
- megafauna, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I hope you're just passing through there.
- buadach, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1WTF has this to do with DRM???
- jamesmiles08, on 08/19/2008, -0/+0Great tips, also check out the following site
http://www.tvboxset.com - edgeofreason, on 10/10/2007, -7/+7Rent. Rip. Return.
- souluos, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I'm going to take a stab here and say most of the people who are using the "rent + rip + return" mantra are kids still living with their parents who don't truly have value attached to their time. I have netfix. I can watch almost anything, it requires little to no effort, and now most of it is being ported over to their "watch now" option. I can't think of one reason why I would waste time ripping, decrypting, encoding, burning, etc. My time, and probably most people over 26 who read this would probably agree, is just more valuable than becoming a low wage piracy hack. The reason this article was written is because the people I am referring too would rather spend 3-7 dollars on a DVD than waste an hour obtaining an illegal copy. That is because they place much greater value on their time. So props to gr3yn3t for trying to get comments back in line with the intent of the article.
