- badtzmartin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+25The actual title is "10 Search Engines You Don't Know About"
These search sites are mostly for more specific types of searches than google. - FredFredrickson, on 10/10/2007, -1/+24"10 Search Engines That Are Better Than Google" published on YAHOO... hmm...
- Dorkbot101, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1695% of the time I can find what I'm looking for with Google in 10 seconds or less. The other 5% I may need to go to the next page, or search on another engine; This list is useful if you're looking for that 'other engine.'
- whatthefu, on 10/10/2007, -4/+18Buried for biased title. You did not portray what the article is conveying at all.
- Coffeedemon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Thats why they titled the artcle "10 search engines you don't know about".
- usrlocalbin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Buried.
I checked out 9 of those search engines. Not the Yahoo one because the link is to a Yahoo page.
None of them worked better than Google. - cryptomystic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8no you're wrong, they are the best.
- codwif, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8does anyone else find it convenient that a Yahoo page is in this list...
- gamalkik, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6very objective....duh
the article is written on biz.*yahoo*.com
as if they would say something nice about one of their competitor... - airquotes, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6No
- crazybugger, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Where can i download google ?
- brombomb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5"Google always bring up the same 10 results for any given search and half of them are always junk." Well then you must suck at using the googles. A few simple operators can make a world of difference such as "", +, - Those alone can make is easy to narrow/broaden your search. I won't even mention things like inurl, or insite (oops guess I just did). As stated above I can find 95% of my searches on the first page of google results, 98% on first 2 pages, and 99% by redefining my search terms.
- eliburford, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Hey, I've never heard of any of these before...
- COinOR, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5lame. this is like comparing a chainsaw to a butter knife. these search engines serve totally different purposes than google (or yahoo, msn & ask for that matter).
- R2Bacca, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Where can I write a totally useless comment on a totally useless article? Interesting that the article belongs to Yahoo...
- Klarth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5"Google always bring up the same 10 results for any given search and half of them are always junk"
...what - tunafizzle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4That's because you're deaf.
- typicalusername, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6I love how this article is hosted on Yahoo. Since when do you honestly believe something hosted by the competitions web site?
Everything on the internet is completely true! - spyrochaete, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4"The same logic applies when determining where to spend your search engine marketing dollars. If you sell a general consumer product, Google may be your best bet."

Such faith in their own product... - Coffeedemon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Not really... a lot of them are. Its nice if youre willing to pay for content or are just navigating to a site but actually finding real research on Google is hit or miss.
- LMN8R, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4"Google always bring up the same 10 results for any given search"
That's a bad thing? Funny....half the time I'm doing Google searches it's to find the same stuff I already found on a previous search days or weeks ago. It would piss me off it the results were always changing. - Adrianc333, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Google, is "the" Search Engine.
- isuisorisuaint, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4buried as buryable material...
- spyrochaete, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Someone should start searching for keywords where a Wikipedia article isn't the most relevant search result.
- tunafizzle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Hrm, lets see where this article is from.... yahoo. I wonder if there is some sort of connection here....
- adt41287, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2ill second that
- Piedramente, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5buried as spam
- coustoe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2these are just websites in a category niche with search engine
- qmeister, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2bah, not the same market as google. buried
- xxenclavexx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Blasphemy!
- r00tus3r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2"Google always bring up the same 10 results for any given search and half of them are always junk."
I call *****. If I do a search for digg in google, what comes up? If I do a search for my name, and personal info. guess what comes up, articles by me, and my website. You may want to push these sites as superior, but don't start by making ridiculous statements. - wilhel1812, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1haha
- thedefiantone, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2usa.gov is pretty cool, I'm surprised I'd never heard of it before.
- Shawn4168, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Sorry, but I stopped reading the moment I saw this was posted on Yahoo.
- triggerfinger, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Google is awesome but that list is really interesting.
- Timetheos, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Gigablast is fun
- kmb1794, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1hakia
- tunafizzle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I always used altavista when I was a kid, they were ridiculous with the porn pics/videos. You could find the most bizarre specific fetishes.
- SohoPro, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Google returns are junk? That takes some stones.
- erikjernberg, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The title of the article is 10 Search Engines You Don't Know About. Not sure why Yahoo is on that list but they do yield great results as compared to Google.
- picsectionpleez, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I do not trust Google but these from the list suck. (but not as bad as Digg's comment system)
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1They are the best. I laughed when I read "10 Search Engines That Are Better Than Google"
I think the poster meant to submit this article under Humor. - spyrochaete, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Except that. And that.
- spyrochaete, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2They didn't spend a single penny on advertising. You don't become the most widely recognized name by word of mouth if your product is poor.
- mcprogrammer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Only one of the search engines is on Yahoo, and none of them directly compete with general-purpose search engines like Google. They are all vertical search engines that specialize in one specific area.
- melonhedd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It only blows up google's computer, not yours.
- spyrochaete, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Sorry, are we Canadians not allowed on your American website? I thought this was the website where you vote (or "digg", if you will) for popular news stories.
- bloggingwest, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I would like to add expofair.tv to this list. The website houses ExpoFair Sports, a directory of direct-to-sport(TM) links. It is in its early stages and searching will be added in the future. For now it is like an early Yahoo, but its navigation saves time locating favorite sports teams in comparison to performing traditional search. You simply pick a sport, find your team by conference or A-Z list, and go to that specific team sport page. I can follow sports news four times faster using ExpoFair Sports directory. The navigation is even faster than scrolling through my bookmarks.
- BadAsh71, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0By the way, another thing to note about Google Co-op and CSE is that you can attach those to your Google Adsense account and make money off of it. So, for everyone that visits your "new" specialized Search site and clicks on a link from a Search Result, you make money. Hint hint for all the .COM wannabe's out there :-)
- mustamike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0dugg to get diggs up to 256. Happy software developers day!!!
