- chuck667, on 10/11/2007, -10/+37Poor form Cavs, you barely even made a contest of it.

that sums it up! - thesauce, on 10/11/2007, -18/+17The Spurs weren't even playing their best and they whooped up on the Cavs
woo woo - sportz103, on 10/11/2007, -8/+39They really need to get rid of this East vs West split during the playoffs. Just seed the league as a whole, best vs worst, this way you get the two best teams in the finals. Same problem they have in baseball, they make the Yankees vs Red Sox a divisional playoff, so after that no one cares to watch the actual World Series.
- HA5TY, on 10/11/2007, -33/+1Sorry but i don't like basketball. I like Football, Baseball, and hockey much more. But then again I do live in Atlanta......with the Hawks..lol

- thepuma77, on 10/11/2007, -13/+9Everybody is going crazy here in SAtown.
I was driving home from my friends house immediately after the game and everybody is honking their horns and hollering in the streets.
I just got home to see this on top of digg!
GO SPURS GO! - DesignEx, on 10/11/2007, -17/+38Most boring finals ever.
- wonderboy, on 10/11/2007, -20/+6The NBA hasn't been any fun to watch since around the time Jordan retired.
- donwilson2, on 10/11/2007, -9/+20I don't care for straight winning like that. Too boring.
- mattlscc, on 10/11/2007, -15/+2I didn't even know the NBA was still playing... must not be on prime time TV anymore.
- Linkin4, on 10/11/2007, -10/+3@sportz103
Then the Yankees and Red Sox would play in every world series. - InsultComedy, on 10/11/2007, -9/+31Kudos to San Antonio, from Houston. All class, no hype.

- jsballardx, on 10/11/2007, -21/+4***** the Spurs and ***** Tim Duncan and ***** Tony Parker and ***** Manu Ginobili and ***** Michael Finley and ***** Brent Berry and ***** Matt Bonner and ***** Francesco Elson and ***** Big Shot Robert Horry and ***** Fabricio Oberto and ***** Tony Parker and ***** Eva Longoria and ***** Beno Udrih and ***** Jacque Vaughn and ***** his not having an outside jumper and DOUBLE ***** SUPER HARD IN THE ASS BRUCE BOWEN.
Bruce Bowen sold his soul to the devil to stay in the league. Oh, and he sucks dick. - Jrr6415sun, on 10/11/2007, -5/+18"Poor form Cavs, you barely even made a contest of it."
Yea the Cavs played bad, but the last 2 games were 75-72 and 83-82. You can't say that wasn't a contest. If things had gone slightly diffently it could be a 2-2 tie right now. - thegoldenstate, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4@jrr6415sun
come on, this game wasn't as close as the score makes it look like. Cleveland scored more than ten points in the last minute and chucked up a couple last second threes. Even the crowd knew it wasn't close. They were cheering for all of five minutes during the game. Game 3 Q4 was the only good quarter of the series. - Y2JCrisis, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Eh, the East vs. West thing is cyclical. For a long time, nobody in the west could compete with the Bulls, and the most exciting series was Bulls vs. Pistons every year. I know that supports the argument that there should be no East vs. West setup, but the West is not always stronger than the East, or Vise Versa. (Interestingly, last year a team from the East won the championship, and in 2004, so championships lately have been spread pretty equally.)
Speaking of the Pistons, I hope Stern is happy with having LeBron in the finals over having the Pistons. Low ratings or not, Pistons vs. Spurs was an awesome series in 2005. It would have been equally awesome this year. - macfanboi, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2As if the Self-Proclaimed "King" had a chance.
- 5m0k3, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Yeah.. Not only can Pavlovic not shoot, he's slow. Ginobli should not have blown by him like that as the clock dwindled. Pavlovic shouldn't have been in a position to allow it, anyway. Oh, and of course the Cavs shots start dropping when it was too late. Blah... better luck next year.
- jsballardx, on 10/11/2007, -9/+1I don't know why everyone is digging me down, my punctuation and grammar are all correct.
Oh and the Spurs can go ***** themselves. Dallas in '08. - mjpanzer, on 10/11/2007, -6/+0I dig this
TOP 5 IDEAS TO RAISE RATINGS OF NBA FINALS
and let me tell you...these aren't orthodox
http://panzerspipes.blogspot.com/ - rrasco, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4@thepuma77
every year we win they do that, bastards, i couldn't sleep last night b/c of all the honking. if i didn't have to work at 8AM i would of gone down town. of course, i would rather they honk their horns than torch the city.
@jsballardx
maybe b/c you are just throwing a tantrum about your mavs losing, again. - bobcatred, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2@jsballardx
Now I remember why I moved out of Dallas as fast as I could.
And if the Mavs win, it'll still be a Spurs win, since AJ is your coach. Lots of people in SA still love the little general.
- threemagic, on 10/11/2007, -16/+37http://digg.com/basketball/The_lowest_ratings_for_an_NBA_Finals
- roadtrippy, on 10/11/2007, -17/+5I should have stayed at the bar.... got the final details over the phone.
SPURS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - Pixelillusion, on 10/11/2007, -17/+25congrats, spurs! they're a class-act team and more than deserve their 4th championship
- mutwirik, on 10/11/2007, -11/+3Another sad day for sports
- maerc, on 10/11/2007, -5/+1ROFL. Someone just called the Spurs a 'class-act team'.
Dirtiest POS team I have ever seen play, and the refs had a huge erection for them the entire playoffs.
NT.
- shinda, on 10/11/2007, -12/+13Cavs are still taking over the east, but congrats to the Spurs
- ronaldhennessy, on 10/12/2007, -29/+2DO NOT WANT.
- ronaldhennessy, on 10/12/2007, -26/+1Stop digging down my comments Spurs fans, no one outside the SA area CARES about this.
- trer, on 10/11/2007, -17/+41Was there every any doubt? Most boring NBA Finals ever. Football season please!
- Dabellah, on 10/11/2007, -24/+9"Was there any doubt?" is right. There have been consistent bad calls made primarily in the Spurs favor throughout the entire finals. Seriously, worst NBA finals EVER.
- 3rnesto, on 10/11/2007, -13/+24Cant wait for college football.
- xrisnothing, on 10/11/2007, -6/+3Yeah, it really needed more self-absorbed, loud-mouthed, roided out freaks of nature to be interesting.
- HigherLogic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11In most people's mind, the Spurs and Suns series was the Finals, and definitely the most entertaining. Look at the back-and-forth W/L, really one of the better series I've seen in a long while (and still upset about Game 5, but it's all good, kudos to the Spurs, there's always next year).
And I agree that it should be the "best of the best," not this East v. West *****. Then again, people in the East would have no teams to root for, they wouldn't have even made it to the playoffs with the records they had :P

- Sparkster185, on 10/11/2007, -1/+41One would think being a fan of Cleveland sports would make me used to it. Alas, it still burns.
- nestafett, on 10/11/2007, -14/+5Well its nice to give someone a chance before the Blazers begin their dynasty

- steampunkthames, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11Give someone a chance? The presence of the spurs in the last decade has not been a trivial or coincidental thing.

- nestafett, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3@squa
those are the old days, look at who they have now. Only bad apple is Miles and some would say Randolph, but they will be gone soon

It was a joke. Im just a blazer fan excited about the future
- tracker5kx, on 10/11/2007, -17/+2didnt the spurs win another rigged season during the strike?
jeers to stern, cheers to mj- tehbishop, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Nope! But I have got to tell you a cool story that goes something like this: FOUR!!! GO SPURS GO!
- lordmike, on 10/11/2007, -0/+24Another complete humiliation for my hometown... I don't know what would have been worse, losing game 7 on the last shot, or this pathetic, embarrassing debacle... what a sad, sick joke this was....
- alpine75, on 10/11/2007, -9/+29Congrats Spurs fans!
- illspaz, on 10/11/2007, -13/+1wait, why do spurs fans need to be congratulated? for living in texas?
- sQPha7e, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4@illspaz
Why do the Indianapolis Colts fans need to be congratulated? Because they live in Indianapolis?
Why do the St. Louis Cardinals fans need to be congratulated? Because they live in St. Louis?
- YuriSakazaki, on 10/11/2007, -16/+9More proof the Cavs didn't legitimately win the Eastern Finals... this was so pathetic. They're far from the best in the East, this was little more than "Give Lebron a Finals shot so we can get some good video and stills."
Made me happy in the pants to see them decimated to terribly :)- SkinnyPuppy, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13"More proof the Cavs didn't legitimately win the Eastern Finals."
What a ***** idiot you are. - threemagic, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3I find him insightful... of course I am a Piston fan and believe the same thing. It was handed to them
- SkinnyPuppy, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13"More proof the Cavs didn't legitimately win the Eastern Finals."
- Jambi, on 10/11/2007, -14/+5Boooring. That was one of the worst mismatches I've seen in years. I say they ditch this whole Eastern/Western Conference dichotomy and just seed all the teams by record, reseeding each round. That way we'd likely have ended up with something like a Phoenix/Spurs finals, instead of this joke.
Damn, I seem to have missed a similar comment above: okay, in addition to that, throw Horry out of the league, cheap-shotting bastard. (I have no trouble with the rest of the Spurs team, but that guy needs to go.)- spursauto42, on 10/11/2007, -7/+17I agree with the seeding thing...as for Robert Horry, come on...I've seen harder hits in a junior high game. Watch the video of the hip check on you tube and watch his arms flail just a bit late. nice acting job. next I'll be hearing that the suns should have been in the finals.
Spurs 4 time Champs...Yessssssssss - Jambi, on 10/11/2007, -5/+2No idea if they would've reached the Finals, since the Spurs played them pretty well, but I guess we'll never know. And apparently Stern has no intention of changing the rule, either. So much for common sense. There's a difference between someone getting off the bench to check out a teammate and getting up to go onto the court to look for trouble.
- spursauto42, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9man, manu and tony got clobbered more than a couple of times. they got hit and hit the ground hard. yet no spurs jumped up and onto the floor to "check" on their teammate. an experienced team knows not to get up or they would face the same fate.
Know the rule and you won't get burned by them - brownzilla, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8The rule wasn't changed cause the owners didn't bring it up at the owners meeting, not cause of Stern and those two weren't checkin on Nash, your being dellusional.
GO SPURS!!!!!

- Benprofane, on 10/11/2007, -7/+3As well it should be. Please, bring on a sweet 16 format, the East is *****.
- aguyingilbert, on 10/11/2007, -11/+2Stern got what he wanted. No idea why he wanted it but go take a huge dump NBA. Can't wait for something exciting like a dog show or something like that.

- MichiganJeep, on 10/11/2007, -6/+19Ohio, are you trying to beat the Buffalo Bills record for most chokes in the Finals?
- jefbob, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Yes, yes we are.
It looks like the Indians might have a shot to be next.
- jefbob, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Yes, yes we are.
- Moops, on 10/11/2007, -18/+22007 Playoffs MVP : Robert Horry
- JDUB213, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10No, It was Tony Parker. I thought they just said it.
- illspaz, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1wouldnt call it a choke if no one in the world expected them to win more than 1 game, maybe
- illspaz, on 10/11/2007, -8/+1sorry, wrong reply thread. what i meant to say was, robert horry is a cheap shot piece of ***** flop artist who doesnt deserve 1 ring let alone 7... oh and david stern is a ***** moron
- spursauto42, on 10/11/2007, -6/+20Here come all the complainers. every year teams/fans bitch about calls. Even I was unhappy last year about calls during the Mavs/Spurs games, but I understand that the most aggressive team gets all the calls and that series could have gone either way
Spurs are the 4 time champs...
as for the ratings...not the Spurs fault the Cavs just didn't bring the juice. If it was Suns/Spurs or Mavs/Spurs in the finals rating would be great. The east is just the JV team, sorry east coast.- goosepillows, on 10/11/2007, -5/+1often overlooked in sporting events is that the "best" team doesn't always win, the winners win.
would the mavs have gone to the conference finals if not seeded against the warriors
would the suns have beaten the spurs if not for a bloody nose and a suspension
one thing i think most fans can agree on, the east had no chance this year.
- goosepillows, on 10/11/2007, -5/+1often overlooked in sporting events is that the "best" team doesn't always win, the winners win.
- JDUB213, on 10/11/2007, -18/+4After ***** over the Suns, compliments of David Stern.
- spursauto42, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7yes the suns deserved to win because .....not....heard the excuses and they just don't fly pal...spurs out played the suns at their own game. it was a great series with some great drama. hell the suns would have lost to this weak cavs team
- MeanYogurt, on 10/11/2007, -0/+13Why do you focus so much on one game of a best of 7 series? The writing was on the wall after the Sun lost the first game at home.
- brownzilla, on 10/11/2007, -2/+14Will you suns fans get over it already. I feel like I'm gonna hear about that one game from suns fans for the next 10 years.
- illspaz, on 10/11/2007, -8/+0i'm not a suns fan at all and i think its a ***** joke what stern did to them. CHANGE THE ***** RULE BOOK YOU CLOWN... what, if 11 guys on both teams get up to fight, then the next game you play beno udrih vs. marcus banks one on one? theres a playoff matchup for ya. it wasnt even an altercation.. nothing happened. suns got *****, plain and simple... yes the spurs are good, no they shouldnt have been handed the title. i agree with the seeding regardless of east-west, so the best teams make the finals...
- merdiesel, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Give me a ***** break Sun's fans...
I suggest you watch Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals. One of the, if not the worst the officiated games in NBA history. Then maybe you'll find out what getting ***** really means.
Sacramento got absolutely cheated that year. - bobcatred, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1How whinetastic.
Please don't make us repeat all the reasons why the Suns' loss was their own damn fault.
- Insomniac33, on 10/11/2007, -5/+23What an awful NBA Finals. The Cavs didn't stand a chance from Game 1... then again, with an inept coach (Mike Brown), a Point Guard who can't play the position and doesn't have the speed to guard Tony Parker (Hughes), a 3-point "specialist" that can't shoot the 3 or play any shred of defense (Marshall) and a member of the 1st-team All-NBA Floppers (Varejao), who would expect them to compete? LeBron couldn't win the series himself, not against a Spurs defense that wouldn't let him get to the hoop as easily as Detroit did.
The Finals of the 80s with Magic's Lakers, Bird's Celtics, Hakeem's Rockets, Isiah's Piston, etc., now THAT was entertaining basketball. Fast paced and physical, back when teams were loaded with quality players and the league wasn't watered down by expansion. 20 years later, and ratings are terrible and the competition isn't nearly what it used to be.- goosepillows, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12aye
i'm not particularly fond of the Witness marketing campaign
but compare lebron to say garnett
lebron really has a horrible supporting cast, and they made it to the finals.
testament to his ability, and the sweep is a testament to his teammates inability. - tehbishop, on 10/11/2007, -5/+5The Finals of the 80s with Magic's Lakers, Bird's Celtics, Hakeem's Rockets, Isiah's Piston, etc., now THAT was entertaining basketball. Fast paced and physical, back when teams were loaded with quality players and the league wasn't watered down by expansion. 20 years later, and ratings are terrible and the competition isn't nearly what it used to be.
I'd put these Spurs against any of those teams - the schemes and plays today make the 80s look weak. Spurs 07 would take those teams and as boring as it might be, they'd win. They're just that fundamentally sound and good. - Insomniac33, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5@ tehbishop, you've gotta be kidding me. You can't even compare the Spurs of today against the '86 Celtics or the '87 Lakers. Take a look at the lineups of both those teams and you'll see how the Spurs just couldn't match up. The Celtics with a starting 5 of DJ, Ainge, Bird, McHale and Parish (Possibly the best front-court ever), and Scott Wedman and Bill Walton coming off the bench. That team was loaded from top to bottom of quality players. Wedman was an all-star in Kansas City but could only manage to be a backup on this team, that's how loaded they were.
And the Lakers with Magic, Worthy, Kareem, Byron Scott, Michael Cooper (Defenseive Player of the Year in '87), A.C. Green, Kurt Rambis. Again, loaded from top to bottom with talented players.
The thing about the NBA in the 80s was that there was so much talent but not as many teams as today, so it wasn't as watered down nearly as much as it is today. If you never saw the teams of the 80s in action, you could not begin to comprehend how good they actually were. The '86 Celtics and '87 Lakers would be able to handle the '07 Spurs, I have no doubt about it. Just look at the talent and you can't possible think otherwise.
I don't care how fundamentally sound the Spurs of today were, the Celtics and Lakers were better. They could run plays and pass and make things happen as good as any team ever. And back in the 80s, the game was far more physical than it is today. Refs didn't call nearly as many of these ticky-tacky fouls as they do today.
Again, the Spurs of 2007 are a very good team and won the title, but there's no way you can compare them with the Celtics and Lakers teams of the 80s. - tehbishop, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I don't know that any of those teams in the 80s faced such a sound defensive juggernaut as the 07 Spurs. Guess we'll never know if the old timers could have handled the mental aspect of today's game, but it surely seems that this bunch and the defense that they play can take the offensive glamor out of anyone, and they've done it 4 times in the past 9 years so it's not a fluke. Might not be glamorous but it does work.
As for Wedman, don't remind me about my KC Kings :( very unexcited that they left, but I guess we were too busy rooting for the Royals at that time -- not so much the Chiefs heh.
- goosepillows, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12aye
- Benprofane, on 10/11/2007, -12/+6I sure do hate how all of the best NBA players have pleaded out of sexual assault charges, are not looking good in dog fighting situations, domestic abuse, etc. I sure do wish that there were professional basketball players who were not engaged in these unfortunate exploits. Oh, *****. They just won an NBA title. How extremely boring.
- rdoger6424, on 10/11/2007, -5/+4The dog fighting scandal is with Michael Vick, a QUARTERBACK for the Atlanta Hawks.
- jefbob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6@rdoger6424

freudian slip
- g0thm0g, on 10/11/2007, -13/+9To echo previous sentiments, San Antonio is without a doubt the most boring team in the NBA and Tim Duncan, while and unquestionably good player, has the charisma and social skills of a chair. I miss David Robinson.
- Insomniac33, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19I don't think San Antonio is the most boring team at all. Match them up against a team like Dallas, Phoenix or Golden State, one that runs up and down the court and plays an up-tempo style, and they can play the same kind of game. But they play their best when they play like they did against Cleveland, that's why they won their 4th title in the last decade.
San Antonio vs. any of those 3 up-tempo teams I named would be an exciting and entertaining series for sure. it's just that no team in the East is legitimately good enough to play an exciting series (with the exception of maybe Chicago). - spursauto42, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Guess you've never heard or met the guy. If you were a fan of the game you would know a little more about him. I like LeBron, I like Shaq, I like Wade, I like Nash...I like good guys that play hard and don't go around sleeping around on their wives, are selfish on the court, get arrested...
I guess he just doesn't pound his chest enough on meaningless plays or tout what a great player he is so that you will believe he is a great player. More commercials does not equal more championships....
Spurs 4 time champs - Roguecop, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11Another clueslees, shallow 'video game' basketball opinion calling the Spurs 'boring'. It's called TEAM play, intellgent play, it's the future of the NBA. There is now an answer to the dominate player in pro basketball and Popovich found it, it's called team defense that which exploits the weakness of an opponent. Its also called team offense, that finds the best player on the court to get to basket. Appreciate the art and mechanics of the team game, it ain't about gamble defense and the fast break...
Spurs and the most winning team in NBA playoff history. RESPECT! - g0thm0g, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2@spursauto42 I've been an avid NBA fan for 20 years and I've heard him in plenty of interviews, but my opinion of his personality and entertainment value stands. However, I completely agree with you that many players and fans have lost sight of what it takes to truly be a good player. As a fan, I would prefer to watch enthusiastic, hard working, fundamentally sound players who get out there and hustle. The integrity of the game is certainly diminished more by show boaters than by Tim Duncan. Though he possesses some of the qualities I listed, I just don't think he's an entertaining player.
- illspaz, on 10/11/2007, -5/+0much love for tim duncan. besides that, the spurs play dirty and cheap, but they know what they can get away with, so i guess you gotta give it to them. fault the refs and david stern, not the spurs.
- Insomniac33, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19I don't think San Antonio is the most boring team at all. Match them up against a team like Dallas, Phoenix or Golden State, one that runs up and down the court and plays an up-tempo style, and they can play the same kind of game. - yomamaisfat, on 10/11/2007, -3/+26Robert Horry can now retire and work as a Will Smith look alike.
- handler, on 10/11/2007, -5/+8GO SPURS GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- streaky78, on 10/11/2007, -16/+6Parker should not be the MVP, Horry should get it hands down. Without big "cheap shot" Rob the Spurs wouldn't even have been in the finals. I am sure now the NBA has seen the ratings they wish the Suns would have made it to the finals. Hey NBA, do the math. Spurs + NBA Finals = low ratings/boring basketball.
- MrLazySmurf, on 10/11/2007, -5/+19Jeez, you Suns fans really have nothing better to do in that desert. Go hump a cactus.
You should really be pissed off at Steve Nash for flailing his arms when he hit the ground (flopping when he hit the ground), if he took the hit like man maybe his teammates would've realized that it was a regular foul and stayed seated on the bench!
Suns Solution for a Championship
1. Fire Coach
2. Hire Carlisle from the Spurs. - spursauto42, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15No, Spurs/Suns/mavs + crappy east team = low ratings/boring basketball
Spurs 4 time Champs - Insomniac33, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9Amare and Boris were stupid for running out onto the court. They should've known the rule, their coaches should've known the rule, and no one but themselves are to blame for the suspension they received. The rules state that if you leave the bench during an altercation, you get a 1 game suspension. Clear as crystal. While I don't think it's the best rule in the world since they obviously weren't going to get involved in the altercation, I can understand why the rule is in place. Back in the day when Kermit Washington knocked out Rudy T. and nearly killed him with a punch to the face, Rudy was running onto the court during an altercation. Not to get into the fight, but instead to try and be a peacemaker. Instead of making peace, he nearly lost his life on the court. I can understand that David Stern doesn't want anything like that to happen again, hence the rule.
- ogleby, on 10/11/2007, -6/+1Horry isn't MVP for the cheap shot.
That was a team effort. The Spurs had 3 players in the back court and a chance to foul Nash instantly after the inbound to stop the clock, but instead choralled him over to the sidelines to the perfect location where they could get some Suns to jump off the bench. Horry actually botched it, since his lunging, pushing, swinging combination should have amounted to like 10x the force of a clothesline and taken Nash out for the rest of the series and perhaps ended his career. But Horry got greedy and softened the blow because he wanted to try to make the follow-through less obvious. Little did he realize that it was already pretty obvious just from the sheep-herding defense the Spurs used to position Nash. Cheap-shot Bob had the full force of his legs, hips, and arm and a chance to apply them to the upper-torso of a little white dude running full speed, but he blew it and didn't even manage to pull down a FOOSH fracture, concussion, or leg/foot injury. Fortunately the suspension-bait portion of the play worked like a charm and allowed the Spurs to just barely take the next, 5th, game in Phoenix, and thus avoid having to go back to Phoenix's large home court advantage in game 7. - tehbishop, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5"Parker should not be the MVP, Horry should get it hands down. Without big "cheap shot" Rob the Spurs wouldn't even have been in the finals. I am sure now the NBA has seen the ratings they wish the Suns would have made it to the finals. Hey NBA, do the math. Spurs + NBA Finals = low ratings/boring basketball."
I actually feel better now that I see that instead of feeling down about not getting to the finals Suns fans blame it all on "those dirty Spurs". Definitely wasn't because San Antonio is a great team - of course not, all 4 wins were rigged! - I bet that Robert Horry guy paid Amare and Boris to jump off the bench and get suspended. If it makes you feel better to think that you got cheated, that's ok. We'll just take #4 anyway. - mikey9a, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Did some one win the NBA Championship? I'm sorry, I was watching the paint on my house dry!
- streaky78, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Just so everyone knows I am not a Suns fan, I am actually a huge Jazz fan. I was very pleased that we took 3 out 4 from the Suns during the regular season. When an incident such as the one "caused" by Robert Horry has such a big impact on the outcome of a series for the team that did nothing wrong, the situation should be looked at objectively. You cannot tell me if you were on that bench and someone just gave a hard hip check to the heart of your team you wouldn’t have some sort of knee jerk reaction. The rule needs to be changed plain and simple.
- bobcatred, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1oh for the love of...
Game 5 - Suns choked. They were ahead all the way into the 4th, and they choked. That had NOTHING to do with Stoudemire or Diaw. In fact, the Suns were playing much better without them up until the 4th quarter when they apparently just shut down. Choke. Plain and simple. They could have won it but they didn't.
Game 6 - Suns have no excuse. The fact that they lost and then blamed it on a suspension that was no longer in effect means that either 1)They can't take responsibility for their own actions or 2)They let the suspension affect a game it shouldn't have. They're a very good team, but dwelling on a suspension that was already over and letting it affect their game was unprofessional. They need to learn to play through, even when they're not happy. Until they can do that, they're not going to win a ring.
It was a hard foul that started an incident and Horry got punished for it. Stoudemire and Diaw should have kept their butts glued to the bench. Regardless of whether you think the rule is stupid or not, it was not implemented this year just to thwart the suns. It's been around for more than a decade. They're big boys who know the rules, and blaming their inability to follow them on David Stern is childish. Blaming the loss on the suspensions is foolish.
- MrLazySmurf, on 10/11/2007, -5/+19Jeez, you Suns fans really have nothing better to do in that desert. Go hump a cactus.
- bryannnnn, on 10/11/2007, -6/+12GO SPURS GO! 99 03 05 07!
- Jrr6415sun, on 10/11/2007, -6/+3don't you think they've won enough? Why is that entertaining when the same team wins every year.
- rrasco, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1last time i checked '99 '03 '05 '07 were not consecutive years, what calendar are you going by?
- bryannnnn, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1hey. GET BENT.

GO SPURS GO
The only thing the CAVS did well was the press conferences after the game, they never let emotions get the best of them. Mucho respect gained for Lebron, and company.
I just hope Carlisle doesn't coach the Sonics, they'll definately be a quick contender next year.
West is going to be very, very, tough again next year. - pardonmedoug, on 10/11/2007, -14/+1What was that, no more basketball for a while?
Thank GAHD.
Dumbest sport ever. Then again what do you expect today's society to like?
Digg down, sheep. Digg down.- bobcatred, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1welcome to the herd. Baaaaaah.
oh wait, you're trying to pretend you're not one of us digg sheep...
- bobcatred, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1welcome to the herd. Baaaaaah.
- reed311, on 10/11/2007, -8/+4The only thing that really bothers me about the Spurs is that they were a great team in the 90's and then they had one bad season and they get lucky and get the best draft pick in a while, Duncan; and next thing you know they are unstoppable. Duncan should have went to a lesser-winning team. I always thought that it was really unfair, not that the game is supposed to be fair but it just seemed really cheap to me.
- Forestmb, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12You must be a Celtics fan.
- spursauto42, on 10/11/2007, -4/+11I guess all the other crap teams loaded with top draft picks year after year, by your calculation should be champs every year because it's so easy to win. It's not just one player or even multiple players. You also need a good coach and a good system and good scouting.
I guess we got lucky getting Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili as lottery picks, oh no. we picked them up at the bottom end of the draft.
Spurs 4 time Champs - thepuma77, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Actually the Spurs got lucky the best daft pick 20 years ago in 1987 with David Robinson.
He was a very important factor and the key to a championship franchise.
And Duncan turned the key and unlocked the "Dynasty" of the Spurs. - reed311, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4It's different because these crap teams never win. The Spurs were doing awesome when they just had Robinson. It's like the Bulls having one bad year with Jordan and then they draft Shaq. No, I'm not a Celtics fan.
- thepuma77, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3What do you mean? The Spurs never won a Championship with just Robinson.
- reed311, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2No, but they were already CONTENDERS. The crappy teams never even make the playoffs, but the Spurs were consistently getting deep into the playoffs year after year. Robinson got injured and the Spurs had ONE bad year and next thing you know they deserve the #1 pick? I don't think so.
- shlos, on 10/11/2007, -5/+9LETS GO SPURS!!!!!!!! representing the spurs from NJ!!!!!!!!! go tony parker!! go michael finley!! go tim duncan, oberto, bowen, elson, ginobili, horry, popovich, vaughn, barry, and carlisimo!!!!!! i am very happy for this team and everyone on the team added to its excellence. Such modest players, such a modest organization, such a modest dynasty! Thanks spurs for making another great run to the championship.
- indraneel24, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1oh pathetic. you choose not to rep the one true nj team left? go nets.
- halvertos, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6so much for lebron being the next jordan...he's good, but there will never be another michael jordan.
- Chizz44, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Stop with that ***** right there! Replace Bron Bron with Jordan in this series (from any era, I don't care) and you get the same result, Spurs in four. Replace James with Kobe from this year and you get the same result, Spurs in four, maybe five cause Kobe could have scored 70...
Fact is that the defensive strategy of the Spurs keyed on James, made him have to think pass first and clogged the lanes on his drives. Lebron doesn't have a mid-range game yet, but that will come - that was the only way that he could have been more effective scoring wise against this Spurs defense.
James did not have the supporting cast that he is going to require to beat the best of the west.

- ahnonamis, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0http://sports.gearlive.com/sports/article/q107-blogging-our-way-through-game-4-of-the-nba-finals/ was much more entertaining than the game. If it weren't for live blogs this series, I don't think I would have made it.
What's next for the Cavs now, though? They need help for LeBron, but I don't know if I would trust their coach making any decisions like that. Can they fire him even after giving him an extension? - shlos, on 10/11/2007, -5/+499030507!!!! 4 time champs!!!!!!
- thepuma77, on 10/11/2007, -6/+5DYNASTY!

- halfamazing, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5congrats to the Spurs
someone pass david stern some antacids - dude051, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Congrats to the Spurs! Hollarin out to them from the great town of San Antonio. We'll all be waiting at the air port for them to bring it all home. Very proud to be a part of this city and such a great NBA team. The Spurs (and SA for the matter) are the most underrated team around. But who needs Nike contracts when you got four NBA titles! I will say this though, Lebron took it better than I figured. He has kept his comments classy and well put. The Spurs, they are always classy and so self-less!! Great job spurs!!

- tennismac, on 10/11/2007, -13/+1Still a big asterisk to the NBA playoffs....We'll never know whether the Spurs are the true champs or the Phoenix suns...
- tehbishop, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Let me give you some tissues you bleeding vagina.
- drem, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4We know already, it's the Spurs, you can sleep peacefully now.

Shouldn't you be celebrating your championship* ? If my team had won (with or without dirty tricks and cheap hits)
I wouldn't be online dishing out recycled insults. - tehbishop, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Good catch moops --> it was a good dig on the whiney assed Suns fans that cry like little pussies and it fit here again. Wah Wah we lost home court in game one but let's ignore that and go for that rule that Amare and Boris ignored... As for celebrating, it's 130am here in the Alamo city, and indeed I'm back from being downtown and celebrating :) Gotta work in the morning yanno.
Oh, and that's spelled F O U R.
for wins.
in the finals.
Not the Suns. ;) was that original enough?

- trancient, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7I'm a Laker fan and if they didn't stop the Spurs those three years they faced them in the playoffs you'd probably be looking at a seven-time winner.
Dominating performance, mad-ass trio right there. - ogleby, on 10/11/2007, -10/+1Grats Spurs, hope it was worth cheating your way through Phoenix. You must be proud.
- tehbishop, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8I know that I am, because the Spurs did in fact have to win 4 games to beat a team so indeed they deserve it. Sorry Nash and whiners in the Desert, no ring for you.
- steampunkthames, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Haha, no gold in the desert.
- RuffRidr, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4@ogleby
Better luck next year. You're gonna need it because the Spurs have absolutely owned your worthless asses in the Duncan era (minus the one playoff series where he was injured). Here's a hint for you: Defense Wins Championships. Without any, you'll always be a second-rate team that loses to the Texas teams that know how to get it done. - bobcatred, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Whinezilla.
Please stop embarrassing yourselves with these whiny and unfounded comments. You're making Phoenix look bad.
- superphly, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4You guys keep saying "Carlisle" will be coaching... I think you mean Carlisimo.
- MrLazySmurf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yeah thats right, i couldn't figure out that guys name. He'll be a great coach, i just hope he doesn't get choked again. I hope i got that part right also....
- battletrax, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6i happen to live in San Antonio
its hard to sleep all the people yelling outside, haha ok i did a bit too. -
