- getouttamyfog, on 04/30/2008, -1/+14Did anyone ever play Shaq Fu for the SNES? That game was bad ass.
Oh wait, what about Shaq? - barfooz, on 04/30/2008, -1/+12a) They weren't going to beat the Spurs with the team they had before Shaq came.
b) If not for the turnovers and Nash's butterfingers, the Suns could have won that game.
c) The Spurs just own the Suns, pure and simple. They always find a way to win when it counts.
// Suns fan
// cry - habhi, on 04/30/2008, -5/+12Everybody knew it was going to fail from day one
- jaydoj, on 04/30/2008, -1/+8Yet again, my Suns lose to the evil, evil Spurs. San Antonio is definitely NOT my favorite team in the NBA, they are however, really really damn good at what they do. I give them tons of credit. Tony Parker is rediculous, that guy is on par with some of the best players in the league today. Even if we hadn't made the trade for Shaq, I still don't think we would have made it further than the first round, the Suns time is running out, they were/are a hell of a team, but they got handled, plain and simple.
- HigherLogic, on 04/30/2008, -3/+9The Suns only have themselves to blame for the series loss. They let Game 1 slide and Game 5 was just sad at the end. I don't think it has anything to do with Shaq though. Oh, and the "Hack-a-Shaq" is the lamest ***** thing out there.
- IllBeBack, on 04/30/2008, -0/+5Yep, it was a real heartbreaker tonight. Shaq seriously needs to finally learn how to shoot a free throw. For the nth freakin' time.
- adrenaline33, on 04/30/2008, -0/+4You joking? Nash is garbage. He shot like 3 for 13 and had three times as many turnovers as assists. Everyone has turnovers, but not everyone has 3+ turnovers in the last 5 minutes of an elimination game. Nash has never been good in the playoffs and this series exemplified this. And why are you bitching about that call? The replay clearly showed that the ball was last touched by Nash and there was definitely no foul. It might have been the passers fault, but Nash still should have caught it.
- Zihuatanejo, on 04/30/2008, -0/+4I meant the loss of Marion was a bigger impact than the shortcomings of Shaq. As you point out, there is a strong possibility that the Suns would have lost even had the trade not occurred.
- RAT-Man, on 04/30/2008, -2/+5Famous last words of Steve Kerr, "I am either a genius or an idiot."
We know the answer considering the outcome of tonights game. - inactive, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3because you suck. comment buried.
- Zihuatanejo, on 04/30/2008, -4/+7What's lost in all this is what a sick player Shawn Marion is. He is one of the best defensive players in the league, can easily run the floor, is an excellent scoring option, and another threat from 3 when you're down by a lot. Sure, Shaq came with his flaws, but the reason the Suns lost is because they gave up Marion.
- DeskFlyer, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3It's my birthday today. *****, I hate getting old.
- wkeown, on 04/30/2008, -0/+3Apparently they didn't have enough time to get a new game plan with Shaq on the roster. We'll see what happens next year.
- barfooz, on 04/30/2008, -1/+3Actually, the Suns lost to the Spurs in the playoffs in 2005, 2007 and 2008. And Marion was on the team for the losses in 2005 and 2007. I'm not sure how you think a third time around pitting the same core lineups against each other would have made the difference.
- adrenaline33, on 04/30/2008, -0/+2So that is very slightly under 1pt/possession on those possessions that they hacked him. That is the same as a team shooting 50% from the field and getting a shot off every possession which any basketball coach could tell you is a very desirable thing!
- barfooz, on 04/30/2008, -0/+2Because you're the minority, most normal people like following sports.
- BlueDevil2k, on 04/30/2008, -0/+2not sure who dreamed this up as a good idea to begin with - trade a slow, overweight center for a limber, athletic do-everything man. Combine that with the most fluid and dynamic offense in the NBA in years, and of course you're going to have a major failure. D'Antoni getting fired is the most unfair move ever - he didn' tmake the trade, he just has to coach the team that Steve Kerr f*ed up.
- bc289, on 04/30/2008, -0/+2I don't know about A. Last year's series was really close. Also, making a trade for shaq is incredibly risky - if it doesn't work out this year, then you're even more screwed next when you have to take on shaq's huge contract while his stats diminish further cause of his age and laziness
- mal1964, on 04/30/2008, -0/+2How come the referees never blow the whistle on Duncan for not calling "bank"?
- adrenaline33, on 04/30/2008, -2/+3Shaq did fine in the playoffs. It's impossible to know how they would have done with Marion instead, but the hate on Shaq is idiotic. The Hack-a-Shaq strategy failed for the most part, and Shaq shot a pretty high percentage from the field. The real blame should be on Steve Nash.
- badave, on 04/30/2008, -1/+2New Orleans and Spurs.... Go NOH!
- quomen, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1I was against it, but tell me why you know more than Steve Kerr, Mike D'Antoni, and Steve Nash. It was going to be either hit and miss, and they missed. They took a big risk and they flopped. The greater the risk, the greater the reward. They imported Shaw not only to beat the Spurs, but also so that they would have a chance against the Lakers. Too bad things didnt work out.
- haterrade, on 04/30/2008, -2/+3failed? he shot 9/20 from the ft line and was 2-8 on fg's...
- Moghadidliam, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1And of course you overlook how gimped the Suns were in those past years, right? Hm, let's see.. stoudemire out with micro fracture surgery on his knee... diaw and stoudemire getting suspended for stepping a couple feet on the court ( Duncan doing the exact same without getting the call ) oh, and the god damn reff that was betting on the games and was involved with the mob coached two of those playoff games? I cry for the suns.. they should have won those championships. ..
- haterrade, on 04/30/2008, -1/+2that trade had nothing to do with creating a better basketball team...suns saved money this year and next making that move and their ownership has a ridiculously awful track record of making moves to save money (Joe Johnson, Kurt Thomas, James Jones and draft picks like Luol Deng/Rajon Rondo)
- MasterTroll, on 04/30/2008, -1/+2The Spurs are/were just a better team, unfortunately. god i hate the spurs. so damn boring.
- egboostin, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1man i was there amazing game!!!
- matlock, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1As a Blazer fan it reminds me when we traded Jermaine O'Neil for Dale Davis simply to match up with Shaq. Those knee jerk trades in order to matchup against one player never work. The Suns and Mavs are the latest teams to find out the hard way.
- theandy1, on 04/30/2008, -0/+1I think people are forgetting that Phoenix was an underdog in this series. The Suns are my favorite team and I love Nash (even have a jersey), but he finally got too old while a lot of the western conference got better. Imo their opportunity passed last year. My mind tells me the team should start rebuilding now, but my heart tells me to give them team another year since they want to. The year after that will be awful, but we'll be able to start rebuilding quick considering we'll have a nice 20 million dollar expiring contract and although I don't want to think of it, but Nash's contract will also be expiring and I can imagine a team gearing up for the playoffs will pay a king's ransom for him.
Anyway, I would have ranted more, but I just read this: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/writers/jack ... - mofw, on 04/30/2008, -1/+1Steve Kerr Should have resigned and apologized immediately after the loss last night.
- cgiupload, on 04/30/2008, -0/+0I was one of them! what were they thinking? They seriously think they have a chance with this old Shaq?!
- wuvamber, on 04/30/2008, -0/+0of course they aren't going to suddenly win a championship after having shaq for only half a season. but if you people actually watched suns games you'd know that shaq is looking better than ever, and plays a perfect supporting role.
look for them to be serious contenders next season. - ksuralta, on 04/30/2008, -1/+1NO DEFENSE == NO CHANCE
Suns badly need to draft/sign/trade for stoppers like Shane Battier, Bruce Bowen, Tayshaun Prince,
oh.. almost forgot.. Shawn Marion - ChanM, on 04/30/2008, -0/+0You can point the fingers at Shaq and Mike for the loss however, I think the finger needs to point at both Amare and Steve. Those two guys are the faces of this franchise and they did not step up their game. Steve turned the ball over like crazy and Amare was not aggressive enough and settled for jumpers or a weak lay-up. Your not going to win a series if both your star players didn't do well. Now if the sun's do not win a championship next year their finished. Steve and O'neal will be too old or will not be able to contribute much and Amare will be a shell of his former self in 2-4 years because of the past knee surgeries.
- blasian, on 05/01/2008, -0/+0I've always wondered if Shaq could pull off the granny shot.
- heynow21, on 04/30/2008, -0/+0Two words for Shaq: GRANNY SHOT. There's no excuse for playing basketball for a living yet being that bad at free throws.
- smeaty, on 04/30/2008, -1/+1Pretty much par for the course when it comes to monster trades later in a career.
- Benprofane, on 04/30/2008, -2/+2While the rule may be lame, so is making $20M/ year and refusing to work on a fundamental part of the game like shooting free throws.
- 619gamester, on 04/30/2008, -1/+1Oh please he was traded at mid season. You guys are a joke! why don't you wait one more year to see who really was the losing trade.
- wukillabee, on 04/30/2008, -7/+6they got shaq just to beat the spurs and they still lost..
PWNED! - Moghadidliam, on 04/30/2008, -3/+1You are pathetic. The suns got jewed, badly.
- inactive, on 04/30/2008, -6/+3I hope Tony Parker is injured or dies in a car accident since he is ***** Eva Longoria.
- DesertDude, on 04/30/2008, -4/+1Basketball is loads of fun. However, it takes a back seat to my all favorite sport: watching paint dry.
- yammy1688, on 04/30/2008, -4/+0that one was on nash. allstar, mvp point guard turning over the ball like that in most crucial junction of the biggest game of the season? choke.
- Moghadidliam, on 04/30/2008, -5/+0Spoken like a true basketball nub.
The Suns got jewed terribly in this last game.
GG blaming the best player on that team, people turn over the ball... but others should learn how to show up to the ***** game.
And how is it our fault after that " off Nash's leg " out of bounds call with 29 seconds left in the game?
We lost because the refs went for the home team and made terrible calls, time and time again. - GoKings, on 04/30/2008, -6/+1Wtf is going on with Digg? Anyone else getting those pink and red boxes?
- ericdano, on 04/30/2008, -15/+2Who freaking cares? Why does this crap end up on the front page with like 60 diggs?
LAME!

What is Digg?
