- ceredron, on 10/31/2008, -4/+87That's some serious ***** right there. The officiating crew really went out of their way on that technical, and anyone who sees it with any sort of objectivity realizes that the only reason Artest ran over there was to pull Yao out of the mix, cause those guys standing around him didn't seem to friendly. And Yao didn't look too happy, either.
I'm no Ron Artest fan, but that was some serious *****. - SenorBudd, on 10/31/2008, -17/+90Don't do anything stupid, Ron!
You're going to ruin it for Obama. - Rizoh, on 10/31/2008, -5/+47Reggie Miller is 100% right. That's guilt by reputation right there. I don't think it should've been a technical foul.
- uknowwhoibe, on 10/31/2008, -5/+43Pretty bad call IMO.
But judging on history... - thedsack, on 10/31/2008, -9/+38He is not going to get the benefit of the doubt ever again.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pq8ariznSPQ - PeanutCheeseBar, on 10/31/2008, -0/+22Why dd Ron Artest leave the game early?
He wanted to beat the crowd. - mokadi925, on 10/31/2008, -3/+23I think one of the announcers said it best when he said that the ref found Artest "guilty by reputation." That's messed up.
- DaviDTC, on 10/31/2008, -1/+20This is why basketball sucks with their officiating. They see someone like Artest and assume he did something wrong when nothing happened. They see someone like Bryant jump out of control into 3 people and he some how gets fouled. Basketball doesn't officiate on rules, they officiate on who the player is. That is the only rule they go by.
- Dismember, on 10/31/2008, -2/+19Love that the Rockets got Ron. There will be a lot less people messing with Yao this year. No Layups!
- c010rb1indusa, on 10/31/2008, -3/+19I hate David Stern
- cawpin, on 10/31/2008, -5/+20Why? Because Detroit players and fans were douchebags?
I'll agree he shouldn't have gone into the stands but it is understandable. He was assaulted by somebody not involved with the game. Legally, he has a right to defend himself. - OGKHAX, on 10/31/2008, -0/+13A fight would have been better.
- joerod, on 10/31/2008, -1/+12its like when a pit bull comes running at you even if its playing people still think its going to hurt them.
- cawpin, on 10/31/2008, -2/+12Excuse me? Did you watch the ***** video? He didn't instigate ANYTHING. He was diffusing the situation.
- RizzoFrank, on 10/31/2008, -1/+11Reggie Miller looking good. And boom goes the dynamite.
- pintomp3, on 10/31/2008, -0/+9that's crazy. what kinda ***** throws stuff at players?
- Bukowsky, on 10/31/2008, -1/+9Yao & Josh Howard were roughing each other up all game... This was the moment they both lost they're cool.
Artest was doing nothing to instigate the situation.. He was just trying to keep everything cool, just as Jason Kidd was doing for the Mavericks. - bnitro, on 10/31/2008, -1/+9So getting a cup thrown at you means you have the right to run into the stands and beat the snot out of a guy who had nothing to do with it?
- commiecat, on 10/31/2008, -0/+8Agreed, and I'm glad that Marv finally came to his senses as well towards the end of that clip.
I'm no Artest fan either, but that doesn't get a technical foul from anyone else (well, maybe Rasheed). I don't think it's an issue, though. It's better that he gets these technicals for actions that express team unity rather than selfishness.
Kinda reminds me of that NFL game where some Jets guy grabbed the Saints' Aaron Brooks' facemask. Kyle Turley, one of the Saints linemen, proceeded to grab the Jets guy by the facemask, rip his helmet off, and toss it. Yeah, you get penalized, but I have no issues with teammates sticking up for other teammates. - jiaoziren, on 10/31/2008, -1/+9I love this guy!
- Branchex, on 10/31/2008, -2/+9He runs over and makes contact with a Dallas player's arm during a pause in the game. Anyone doing that is going to look like they're gonna start a fight. He almost pushs the Maverick player out of the way to get to Yao.
- rootnik, on 10/31/2008, -0/+7I'm actually impressed with Ron here. He could have lost his cool after the technical, but remained calm. Maybe he is growing up. It's nice to see him be about his team more than himself.
- RizzoFrank, on 10/31/2008, -0/+7Detroit should have signed Artest this year. Fans like him.
- Seemefearme, on 10/31/2008, -0/+7Am I the only one who was a bigger Artest fan after seeing him lay it out on some fat armchair coaches? I doubt it.
- thatguy11, on 10/31/2008, -5/+11Are you people seriously retarded? Or have you never watched a basketball game in your life?
You can't grab another player like that for any reason, and Howard was MORE than obviously walking away.
I swear to god, this place propagates ignorance like no other. - blackrage, on 10/31/2008, -0/+6Nobody died
but man Jermain O'Neil crushed that douchebag who ran on the floor. - AlienMushroom, on 10/31/2008, -2/+7Technical foul for the referee.
- cawpin, on 10/31/2008, -1/+5No, he didn't. He was going directly for Yao to pull him to the line. He did nothing wrong.
- mikerzt, on 10/31/2008, -1/+5nba season just started and they've already called ***** fouls....unbelievable.
- kaywhy, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4no, it's not.
- TexanRudeBoy, on 10/31/2008, -1/+5NO LAYUPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- agenthamsta, on 10/31/2008, -1/+5He'll always get a technical foul called in a situation like that.
I'm not saying it's right, but his history does precede him. - roomforpanic, on 10/31/2008, -3/+7You only have the right to use force in defense of oneself or on behalf of another if you have a reasonable belief that you (or another) are in serious threat of bodily harm. Getting bonked on the head with a cup would not hold up in court as a cogent impetus for waylaying some dude's face.
- biotch, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4Hey .. thats part of it .. everyone has to deal with their own reputation. If you have a history of causing problems, then people will be particularly sensitive to your actions in that regard.
- john2kx, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4....huh?
- drumrave, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4I hate grammar police. So the guy a few mistakes, big freaking deal.
- libertao, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4I love that clip.
- vicisaran, on 10/31/2008, -2/+5Nobody else sees why assuming a Chinese man knows kung fu is a racist stereotype besides me?
I'm a fan of Yao and know that he DOES NOT practice any type of martial art. - rootnik, on 11/01/2008, -0/+3Oh lighten up, it was a joke.
Seriously, people will take offense to anything. I was making fun of a stereotype, not the race. I don't see people complaining when SNL has Eskimos dancing around during the Palin rap. - IpwnZnoobs, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3ya he had to have knocked him out
- zimz, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3Yes, Cawpin should definitely deal with his ignorant.
- wally40, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3You get a technical for posting on digg!
- JoshChris, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3I was there - He said something or something - the entire crowd was pretty upset... and probably influenced the ref because everyone was calling for a technical.
- Dismember, on 10/31/2008, -0/+3It's Dallas. They're always yelling about something, yet never seem to know what it is.
- hipnerd, on 10/31/2008, -1/+4Actually, Ron just puts his hand on Howard's arm trying to get by and Howard pushes him off.
- inactive, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2Yeah, everyone knows that he abandoned his pursuit of martial arts training so he could focus more on math and science
- sktbrdngp3, on 11/02/2008, -0/+2oh shutup
- paulvq, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2You have no idea how ironic that last line is.
- alcimedes, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2Anyone have another link?
- vic42482, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2ha. next thing you know, he'll be getting technicals for just looking at the ref wrong or just by stepping on the court.
