- sovereign3, on 05/04/2008, -2/+11Enough to get the story on the front page. Personally, I'm glad to see the occasional sports story on the front page. To its credit, not nearly as many sports stories Front Page as Apple, Obama, or silly picture stories.
- sovereign3, on 05/04/2008, -5/+13Mark Cuban will regret this in the same way he should regret trading for Jason Kidd. Avery Johnson was a great coach who just didn't have the personnel to win in the playoffs. That's not the coaches fault, it's the GM's fault. What really makes Cuban think Carlisle will do any better?
- retrospects, on 05/04/2008, -0/+8because mark is a crazy man with a ***** ton of money!
- threemagic, on 05/04/2008, -2/+8Nope, your digg is messed up.. please format your drive.
- legendxx, on 05/04/2008, -1/+6Ferrell is contributing to the percentage of digg users who are giant vaginas.
- threemagic, on 05/04/2008, -1/+5I disagree. That team has a lot of talent. Talent enough to have the best record in the NBA last year. They were blatantly out coached by Golden State and NO. Avery has great talent and that's why he won.. period. Carisle is a great coach. Most people don't realize he built the Piston's. He's no nonsense causes the players not to like him but he does understand the game.
- retrospects, on 05/04/2008, -2/+6now we wait............
the only hope we have for a championship is the stars....everyone else lost in the first round or cant even make it to the playoffs! - FriedTurkey, on 05/04/2008, -0/+3It is probably best for Avery Johnson. He will make more money at his new coaching job which he will quickly get this year.
- FriedTurkey, on 05/04/2008, -3/+6I thought they were going to get Isaiah Thomas to complement the Jason Kidd trade.
- Ighuc, on 05/04/2008, -2/+5He's failed twice, he's going to fail again. Avery is ten times the coach that Rick is, come to Chicago Avery!
- indigit4l, on 05/04/2008, -2/+4Glad that it is. I've been waiting to know. (and obviously so have others moron)
- Bukowsky, on 05/04/2008, -0/+2It's pretty easy to change your digg settings to NOT show any sports stories...
- axis, on 05/04/2008, -1/+3It is the coaching staffs job to make sure their players are ready and focused. I understand how blowing a 2-0 lead in the finals can impact you, but to lose to the 8th seed Warriors when your best player is named MVP of the league, it screams you were not prepared. I never understand how any team can waltz into the playoffs and think they are going to glide to the finals. That IS the coache's fault and that IS the MVP's fault. You don't need to speak to be a leader, do it by example. They need to bring in some players who are natural leaders, a coach on the floor, someone who wont buckle when the last shot needs to be taken.
And I don't even like basketball... - inactive, on 05/04/2008, -1/+3Avery was a mediocre player that compensated for his lack of skill and smarts by providing a meaningful level of awareness and presence from the bench and in the locker room... The same is true of his coaching, but that's usually not enough for an NBA coach...
- robertallen, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1Rick was fired here in Detroit for not getting them to the next level in the playoffs. Hopefully Rick will have better luck with the Mavs. He's a good coach. But can he get them over the hump that Avery couldn't? It's going to be interesting to see how things develop.
- BetterOffEd, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1Oh I'm sorry.... Would you like ANOTHER Grand Theft Auto story to masturbate over?

honestly rick carlisle is the white avery johnson or better as "ivory johnson" - jankind, on 05/08/2008, -0/+1Don't read it.

http://www.dizikom.com - NinjaPig, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1and stack showing up for only the last game, and jason kid not playing AT ALL
- NorthMass, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1Nellie's awesome, the reason he hasn't won a championship is a lack of great defensive players who can run like KG. I love watching the Warriors!
- threemagic, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1Hmm I guess future hall of famers Jason Kidd and Jerry Stackhouse are lost on you.
- passiveconsumer, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1*****.
- NorthMass, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1Avery made some mistakes as a coach, from over-coaching the offense to trying to match up with Nellie last year, but that does not warrant him being fired. Hes young, and a heck of a coach. Carlisle is a good coach, but is he really that different from Avery? They both like to control the offense and demand a strong defensive commitment.
- NinjaPig, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1Maybe I'm the only one, but god I wish we could get Nellie back, if he doesn't win a championship, he'll make or get players who'll be amazing offensively.
- NorthMass, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1Jax shut him down, but besides that one series he has done great in the playoffs year in and year out. Don't blame Dirk for Josh Howard shooting below 30% from the field.
- 666dorado, on 05/04/2008, -2/+2they'll never win a championship unless they get a true big man, dirk NO-WIN-ski is soft as butter, not to mention a choke artist.
- sovereign3, on 05/04/2008, -1/+1With the exception of Dirk "The Choke" Nowitzki, who do the Mavs have really? Jason Terry is an above PG, but not really talented. Josh Howard is a great young player, but won't win you any games. There are far more talented teams in the West
- dookie1481, on 05/05/2008, -0/+0Dirk averaged 27, 12 and 4 assists during the playoffs. Hardly a choke artist.
Jay - basher88, on 05/05/2008, -0/+0Rick Carlisle would be a good fit for the Mavericks.
- blackrockcoast, on 05/04/2008, -1/+0uuiU
- ronfinch, on 05/05/2008, -2/+1no stupid sports on digg,please.
- eqlou, on 05/04/2008, -3/+1looks like jim carrey
- IHaveCrayons, on 05/04/2008, -5/+2Whatever ***** the Mavs. But seriously you don't want Avery? LOL maybe you'll be 9th spot next year Dirk then you can commit all the flagrant 2's you ever wanted.
- dangerdeej, on 05/04/2008, -3/+0If this is true and Rick C. is in control of the team, I give him 6 months before he loses control of the locker room, like he did in Indiana. In the next year Jason Kidd will beat his now ex wife again and Dirk will be shooting outside of strip clubs.
- sdquinn, on 05/04/2008, -5/+1No report on blogmaverick, no care.
- absurdist, on 05/04/2008, -6/+1Who cares?
No, seriously... who the ***** cares? If Cuban hadn't bought the team, would anyone here give a sweet flying ***** about it? - GIACOMOSAN, on 05/04/2008, -8/+3Carlisle looks like a depressed Jim Carrey.
- Skelly11, on 05/04/2008, -6/+1I read this and thought it sed Rick Astley, that would be freakin Awesome
- ElBeh, on 05/04/2008, -12/+7Rick Astley > Rick Carlisle
