- rockorager, on 10/12/2007, -6/+21I first thought of LoTR....*pushes glasses up*
- thefat, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11Scottie was always in Jordan's shadow. And apparently, he want's to follow in his footsteps. I think it is a little too late.
- JurneyAhed, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Yeah, and being English I've got no knowledge of American sport personalities anyway, so I thought of LoTR too
- gldfshnpcklejar, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11Scottie!? i thought it meant peter jackson asked pippin to come back.
- usakos, on 10/12/2007, -8/+12cool, bring him back, please. I like Scottie. Since him and Jordan retired, I stopped watching pro basketball.
- tkonopkaz06, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4@antistupid
Why the hell would any team double-team a 41 year old with bad knees who won't even start? You may need to change your name. - threemagic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This coincides with another story where Pippen is in debt. (No, I'm not joking)
- bmson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I thought the title said "Peter Jackson talks to Pippen about possible comeback" and it didn't make any sense to be but now I understand.
- tryangles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I've been a Laker fan for 20+ odd some years or so and the only problem that I have with Pippen is that he makes a statement indicating that he wants to come out of retirement. Then he says he already has some suitors and wants to play for a contender namely the Cav's and the Heat, not making any mention of the Lakers. Then there are reports he will only play if he is guaranteed a 2nd year on a contract... I'm mean come on pip, you are 41 and haven't played in a few years, and you are making all these requirements out there like you have a choice. (No wonder you aren't signed two weeks after your statement) Reality check time, do you know of any 40 y/o NBA players that have an option to choose which team to play for?
He would be a great for the Lakers right now considering his knowledge of the triangle offense and all the injuries the team is gong through, however if he is going to sit there and not remember his true net worth, I rather not have him on the team. - wmuostkman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4threemagic: Veteran leadership? What about Kobe Bryant? I think they're doing a damn good job considering how strong the Western Conference is this year.
- totorototoro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Ugh..watching Jordan try to come back was painful enough.
- limpy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3"Pippen aint eazy"

"You could put the entire original Dream Team (including MJ) ..."
Yeah but Bugs Bunny hasn't lost a step[reply] - jonstafari, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2umm... I recall Jordan not having the greatest comeback, and for some reason, I cant see Scottie Pippen having the greatest comeback either.
Yeah, Jordan scored his 30,000th career point on January 4, 2002, which would've been impossible if he stayed retired. But thinking back on the Wizards seasons for those 2 years, I dont recall MJ doing much of anything, really. So now Scottie wants to come back.... who else; Dominique, Larry, Magic... come on now. You're retired for a reason!
I hear baseball needs some proper legends ;-) - polyGone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why don't these superstars just let us remember them for being great and not for returning waaaaaaay late?
- Agrabah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I realized how much of a nerd I am when my first glimpse was "Peter Jackson" and "Pippin". I was not aware that our furry footed friend even went away :D.
- hardwarehank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ "I first thought of LoTR....*pushes glasses up*"
I first thought of Berserk. Which is worse?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Characters_of_Berserk#Pippin_.28.E3.83.94.E3.83.94.E3.83.B3.2C_Pipin.3F.29 - HanSolo69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1for a second i thought this story was about hobbits. but alas, there's no mention of Muggsy Bogues.
- daurkin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1When I read about Scottie thinking about comming back I think this is more like Scottie talking to Phil Jackson about a possible comback. Phil is being a little too slient about the deal to seem like he's seeking out Scottie.
Plus Scottie is 41 years old so it's not like this is the classic Scottie, this is like when Jordon came back and played for the Wizards for a little while but wasn't all the hype that the 90's fans where hoping for. - FearlessFreep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"There is a big difference between punching/kicking one person for 15 minutes and running up and down a court trying to outsmart/outplay 5 people (ok maybe not 5, but at least 2..he will be double teamed) for over an hour."
a) players don't play the full clock time
b) the championship match was 25 minutes (5 5minute rounds)
c) Randy gave up at least fifty pounds and a good six inches to Tim and still stood toe to toe with him. (I'd rather spend an hour being double teamed then twenty five minutes with a guy that much bigger than me try to knock me out)
Only point is, science and diet, training and conditioning have allowed people to be much stronger and much healthier and compete at much higher levels than ever before. I don't know if Pippin can do it, but just being 41 can be overcome - randersontt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Every NBA star who has attempted a comeback has been a joke - Magic, Jordon, Rodman - and Pippen would be the biggest laughingstock of all considering that he's 41 years old. The only good thing about a Pippen comeback would be watching today's young guns run circles around him and make him look like a dog chasing his own tail!
The Onion should do an article about Wilt Chamberlain planning a comeback... - jordan314, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Will frontpage stories continue to lack definite articles?
- SnuKs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@ 41 he's a vet on a young team. It's more than what he can do on the court, it's also what he can teach.
And yea they'll double team him, but that ok.. it'll just free up someone else to drop points. - shinda, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4As much as I love Pippen, seeing how he performed at the the Shooting Stars competition during All Star break I really have to wonder what he can bring to the table this time around.
- mcfly1204, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Being an actual fan of basketball, in particular the NBA, this makes me want to hit most of you in the face.
"Oh, I know who Scottie Pippen is. What? There's something about him wanting to make a comeback? Hey, I have no clue what I'm talking about, so why don't I comment on this story."
Go bitch about 911 or something. - ThRaShEr08, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2He is way too old and it's ridiculous him tryin to comeback
- FearlessFreep, on 10/12/2007, -2/+243 yo Randy Couture just beat the crap out of 30 yo Tim Sylvia this weekend. 41 is not too old if he trains tight
- PearlyWrites, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Scotty coming back??? I don't think so. He had his fame and glory and let him relax and not destroy the rest of his body.
- palmer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Then where's the link?
Duh. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Pippen is going to be a great Towel Boy! Come on Scottie, remember what happened to Michael and HIS comeback? His scoring average went down and he was better than Pippen.
- mutwirik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Please DONT! You have a briliant legacy, don't ruin it by coming back. Remember Michael Jordan and the Wizards, disaster!
- mikehartor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Impossible! Even if it's not true it is quite a nice idea.
- cDOTcom, on 10/29/2008, -0/+0i'd have to agree. he's a lil bit late and a few years too old for this comeback. i love Scottie Pippen but c'mon.... too late homie.
- counterstriker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Do you think they will let him bring his cane on the court and let him complain about the young wippersnappers ragging on him about his game?
- Amoeba16, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Is Phil Jackson the brother of Peter Jackson?
Or perhaps his non-union Australian equivalent?
Maybe that was an undeserved slight against Australia -- what's the south-pacific version of Mexico? - antistupid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I would agree with you if I didn't live in Atlanta, and have the Hawks for a basketball team. The Dream Team SHOULD be able to take the current Hawks. Otherwise, yeah, you're right. These guys are all old legends. Realistically, they don't have the speed, athleticism, or energy to keep up with today's NBA generation. Also, this isn't the same game as it was 10 years ago. The game has evolved, and so have the players. Old guys (old as in 40+) wouldn't stand a chance.
- threemagic, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Shinda: To the Lakers he brings: veteran leadership and a good grasp of the triangle offense (not to mention the ability to compliment a guy who loves to shoot)
- antistupid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Like Jordan and the wizards right? Instead of making a comeback as a player, he should make a comeback as part of the coaching staff. He would be of more use off the court than on it.
- antistupid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0There is a big difference between punching/kicking one person for 15 minutes and running up and down a court trying to outsmart/outplay 5 people (ok maybe not 5, but at least 2..he will be double teamed) for over an hour.
- usherzx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2kobe is already a vet, pippen doesn't bring anything to the table - he sucks when jordan isn't there to make him look good
- usherzx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2it isn't his age.. pippin just isn't any good
- palmer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1The apostrophe, followed by an S, makes something possessive, not plural.
When talking about years, the apostrophe comes BEFORE a two-digit number, to take the place of the missing digits.
So that should've been "the '90s fans". - Tree4742, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Sounds good but he can't run with these kids.
- Ozymandius3, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2You could put the entire original Dream Team (including MJ) up against any current professional NBA team and the Dream Team would LOSE. Of all the pro sports in America basketball is the one where age affects you abilities the most. Younger players are simply stronger and faster. Besides, you can't sit out as long as Pippen has and expect to still have your edge.
Sounds to me like Phil Jackson is getting a little desperate.
- threemagic, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Kobe is 27 years old? Do you really think 20 year olds think of him as a veteran leader, not to mention his own recent transgressions (granted he's gotten better)? Or do you think the maturity of a 41 year old would garner a bit more respect..
Again.. think of the triangle.. - mcfly1204, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Pippen has also said that he is in the best shape... ever. He also feels as though he hasn't put up more than 10 points a game since 2000/2001, he'll still be able to help a playoff bound team. Pippen is a joke, he has a gambling problem much like Micheal Jordan. The only thing he has to offer is experience, and possibly what type of light makes your nose appear slimmer.
- wickerkat, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1hmmmm...i'd still like to see jordan on the court - he may only be 75% of his old self, but i'd take that - pippen, he's always been a great #2, but rarely a stellar #1 - with kobe he could be a good option - i like it - of course, i am in chicago, and watched the bulls win those 6, so i am a bit bias
- Bartboy919, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Yup,
- FearlessFreep, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1...
- PhantomC, on 10/12/2007, -17/+11anyone else think the title for this story sounds like its about the lord of the rings movies?
