- jer21, on 12/02/2008, -0/+12It's not that simple...the players association is backing him.
- PGPirate, on 12/02/2008, -0/+8At least he has the Starbury shoes at Steve and Barry's. Wait, Steve and Barry's is in bankruptcy? Oh that sucks for him
- georgemason01, on 12/02/2008, -0/+8Why not just sue him and void the contract? Surely refusing to play a game has to be a breach of terms.
- ScottyDontKnow, on 12/02/2008, -0/+5EXACTLY, Jay-Z owns the Nets, and LeBron and Jay-Z are like best friends.
- bwjacket, on 12/02/2008, -1/+5Two more words: "Two Years"
- robEstyles, on 12/02/2008, -1/+5Even two more words "Brooklyn Nets"
- Jericho6, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4You're not going to void a contract based on sitting out one game. Legally it would take a lot more than that, and that's without the whole CBA and Player's Association factors.
- Codee, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4I use to like Steph so much, but man he just fell apart. He's more needy than a baby in a barn. I'm tired of it already.
Dolan, needs to pay the ransom so we can all say, "Goodbye and good riddance". - tanmaker, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4Get the prick out of basketball completely.
- writer0213, on 12/02/2008, -4/+7I have no sympathy for him. Rich, nba snobs
- orthodoxDrew, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2he's always been a bit of an idiot. the type of guy who needs good management to take advantage of the skills, hence a breakdown in NY.
- robEstyles, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2@duniyadnd
Living in Jersey and 10 minutes from the IZOD center I hope they never move (they still havent even broke ground in brooklyn yet) but on the other hand if they dont move to Brooklyn there not getting LeBron im afraid. - m8ymerc1, on 12/03/2008, -0/+2Marbury may be a knucklehead but you have to take his side in this.
The team originally told him to stay out, your not a part of us anymore, we don't want you.
Then the team get in a tight spot and goes back looking for him to beg, please play for us we didn't mean anything by that.
He says FU take a hike, after the way you kicked me around and said I wasn't a teammate now you need me and you think I'm gonna play for you now.
I don't know how he is in real life but I agree with him the team is wrong - hawkdude56, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Sad thing is, some bad team will still sign this guy.
- rsbryswrrl, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Stephon Marbury suck
- edealeasy, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2What a joke,what a poor guy!
- jameskong15, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Stephon has been pretty annoying for a long time, but in this case it does seem like the Knicks were acting a little shady. They put him through training camp, didn't play him (putting him behind a guy who didn't participate), and finally asked him to play randomly as a last resort. I can see how Stephon would feel alienated and ultimately hesitant/defiant in such a case. I think he should have been the bigger man and played, but sometimes in the heat of things it doesn't always work out so perfectly. Both sides really have a level of responsibility in this whole problem, but I'd say the Knicks could have avoided so much of this if they had been strait with the guy from day one rather than dragging him along and wasting his time.
And I know some might think that for the amount he is making he should do whatever the coach says, even in situations like this, but just because you would let someone walk over you and treat you this way for $21 million doesn't mean others feel the same way. - kahjah, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2This is Walsh's and D'antoni's fault, just tell him he's not going to play in preseason, don't have people buy into the system and then bench them. WTF?
- jerrycan, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2Well they're on the hook for the remainder of his contract, which is pretty high (2 years/42 million). Not sure any teams would take that over, given his recent performances on and off the court.
- copaceticZ, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2I have watched him since his Georgia Tech days. I am from NC so i am a big ACC fan. I have always thought he was the most over-rated player in the league. Shoots too much misses far too often. Anyone in the world would pay this ***** millions of dollars to play basketball is an idiot. He ***** sucks. He always sucked. Let's put it this way he'd have to pay my team 42 million dollars a year just to play for my team if i had one. I would of never been dumb enough. This guy never had any business in the NBA in the first place. Yea put this guy on your team you will lose an extra 30 games a season and you know thats gotta be good for business.
- duniyadnd, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2@robEstyles: Two more words - New Jersey
They don't know if they're moving in the middle of the 2010-2011 season, or the following season. - Zedian, on 12/02/2008, -0/+2With KG also in the lineup those 90's Twolves had so much potential. My where time has gone.
- str8diggz, on 12/02/2008, -1/+2One of my favorite College players to watch ever. Also being a Twolves fan back in the day, that 96 draft was awesome. Too bad how things have turned out for him.
- n3demonic, on 12/02/2008, -1/+2I like how people are choosing sides as if there's a right side and a wrong side. Stephon Marbury or the New York Knicks. What a joke.
- alexanEmpire, on 12/02/2008, -1/+2Who cares?
- frankhardy12, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1Teaching as a profession is a wonderful experience.I'm a teacher since 10 years. Its our prior responsibilty to train the students and imbibe thier hearts with good thoughts and mercy. If any1 likes to become a teacher, I can suggets you for the primary training to be done by attending nystce test.
www.nystce-teachingsolutions.com - poopmasta, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1Alot can be said about a player has never gotten along with any teammate, coach, owner and has fired every one of his agents.
- luke727, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1Ok, this is just ridiculous now. Starbury is major league douchebag, but I blame the Knicks organization for allowing this to drag out the way it has. Just give the guy whatever money he is owned and cut him; it's that simple, and it will be well worth it to finally be rid of him. Remember, these are the same idiots who just couldn't get rid of Isiah Thomas even after all the embarrassment he brought to the organization. The Knicks are, and will continue to be, a joke as long as James Dolan is there. Fire James Dolan.
- dasugo, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1Stephon might be caustic to a the team chemistry but why sit him out for 3 weeks when he CAN play and then get your panties in a twist when he doesn't play. If he sits in the bench, he is still making his money. EIther u give him a decent buyout or let him sit home and make $20 million. Sounds like a win win.
- poopmasta, on 12/02/2008, -0/+1Its called showcasing a player for a trade
- yeahdefdj, on 12/03/2008, -0/+1http://digg.com/basketball/Top_Five_Things_That_Ha ...
- Jericho6, on 12/02/2008, -2/+2I have no idea why teams drag this out. The Knicks have never had any intention of playing Marbury this year. Why even keep him around, it will only create problems. To prolong this whole charade months after a solution could have been reached seems utterly pointless.
- CTabuga, on 12/02/2008, -5/+2Stephon Marbury come to Sacramento!!!
- mediaspree, on 12/02/2008, -6/+2Two words "Le" and "Bron"
