- Tweidle, on 10/12/2007, -8/+17Maybe they should add a rule about show boating, or taking 6 steps without dribbling the ball. I think that might make the game more interesting too.
- Feanor, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Yeah man, but then basketball wouldn't be entertaining, kinda like hockey w/o the fights or baseball w/o the 'roids.
@Casey - I think he's talking about a lack of traveling calls in pro ball. - LordStandley, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I cant believe I just commented in the wrong thread. Im an idiot.
- HoboMaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Yeah, the Mavs/Spurs matchup was way too soon on. Of course, my Mavs managed to screw it all up in the end anyways, but hey.
- scoot87, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8ISlayer Ranking - #91
- truebullfan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Now we wont have SAS and Dallas against each other in the second round. They should have changed this rule before the playoffs started last season.
- mastercheif, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Containars with less diggs have different algorithms. A Sports story will take less diggs to get to the front page then a Apple story.
- c5mjohn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I agree, these are good rule changes. I like the time out changes. Having fewer 60 second time-outs should bring more sense of momentum to end of game situations. I always hate how the last 60 seconds of a game could last upwards of five six minutes. Digg!
- crawf061, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5this rule change should have taken place a long time ago
- AZTriGuy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Ok, so the submitter's overall ranking has a piece in the algorithm? Question answered, makes sense. Just really seems weird when you see a story that has very little activity like that hit the front page.
- aggiejy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2good for the mavericks. :)
- brjndr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No, winning divisions is still good, because it gaurantees you a playoff spot. If your first Northwest, but 9th in West, you still get in. It could happen, Denver was 7th in West last year, but was first in their division.
- jabbar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2if only we'd known...damn ginobili.
- dinobot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2bout time! I dont want see the Spurs against the Mavericks before the Conference Finals!
- newtonapple, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I think the changes to shorten the timeouts are much needed. The games really drags with a ton of timeouts. I don't like soccer and I watched the World Cup this year and was surprised by how fluid that game was b/c of its lack of timeouts. I think NBA is taking good measures by restricting timeouts.
- KenMo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I blame Bush
- ryno35, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2@ Feanor
But if you watched last season you'd know they have already started cracking down on traveling. It gets a called a lot more.
Now I still don't think they do as well with traveling as the college refs but player quickness has got to be a factor. - swin101, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just another reason for people to hate the NBA. Lame.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1agreed. this move went too far. they should have just changed seeding for Round 2. this move makes winning divisions irrelevant - there's not even home court advantage earned now, it's all by record?
- thehans, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1How about just two conferences then, East and West, who needs the sub conferences.
- AZTriGuy, on 10/12/2007, -12/+12Ok, nothing bad about this story, it's actually some cool info. I've asked this before, an I'll ask it again. How does a story with 18 diggs and NO comments (at the time of my writing this comment) get on the front page? Has the promotion algorithm changed here?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm so confused, does someone want to draw a picture of what this will look like?
There's absolutely no reason to change it. Just because the teams are good doesn't mean we should be building up to a "big match up"....
I'm sure dallas had a hand in this because they were crying after losing to miami. Wah wah. - capitalcity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yep sure is confusing...
Confusing like watching duhwayne wades freethrow attempts surge overnight.
Regular Season: 10.7 per game
First Round of Playoffs (Bulls): 8 per game
2nd Round of Playoffs (Nets): 10.6 per game
Conference Finals (Pistons): 8.7 per game
NBA Finals (Mavs): 16.7 PER GAME - TriviallyTravis, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Rule change? Are they actually going to start calling people for traveling now?
- LordStandley, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Timberline lodge showed at one time "The Shining" in the main lodge where it was filmed, on Halloween night several years ago. Not sure if they still show it though..
- CaseyUCF, on 10/12/2007, -14/+6you don't play nor follow basketball do you?
- scoot87, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3Nice, now I will place all my tech stories in the sports section :)
