- chesterogilvie, on 04/24/2008, -1/+12What a bitter little pussy you are.
- MookiBlaylock, on 04/24/2008, -4/+14Boston has two other championship teams, hard to spread the love. Of course people's interest sparks when their team is winning. I always thought people accusing others of band wagoning was ridiculous. We all band wagon in one way or another.
- jflowers45, on 04/24/2008, -2/+8I'm a Wizards fan, but if they don't beat the Cavs I'll gladly jump on the bandwagon for KG
- cathpah, on 04/24/2008, -3/+9really? I thought the patriots lost the superbowl?
I must've been watching another game. - aqcarter, on 04/24/2008, -1/+6Totally jealous, at least bibby got to the playoffs w/the hawks. Us kings fans are going to have to wait another 15 years to get back, lol.
- cathpah, on 04/24/2008, -0/+5funny....that's what your parents said about you.
- pixelate, on 04/24/2008, -0/+5Even better, he was back at it again after the 2nd blowout last night (where he again had a terrible game):
"The people I was talking about know who they are. If they took offense to it, they must be part of it. I guess they are all bandwagon jumpers.''
They asked KG and Ray Allen if they ever had to deal with fan reaction like that on the road. KG: "Neither one of us has said anything that retarded." - reuscel, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4Maybe Bibby should try winning a playoff game before he runs his mouth.
- Mi1368, on 04/24/2008, -1/+5As a true boston fan, it is obvious that there are a lot of bandwagoners in boston. As we have struggled for years, my friends would just say "the nba sucks" as their reason for not watching basketball....now since we r good, they all decide to cheer (and I highly doubt they can name the whole rosters of the team for the past 5 years or even this year.) However, there are obviously true boston fans out there
- HeDiggMe, on 04/24/2008, -2/+6Obviously he was talking about Red Sox and BC hockey, because everybody cares about college hockey.
- aschepis, on 04/24/2008, -0/+4some supporting evidence would be nice...
- inactive, on 04/24/2008, -0/+3I've never understood why being a bandwagon or fairweather fan is supposed to be an insult. I'm from Boston, and last year the Celtics were pathetic, losing something like 19 straight games, to have one of the worst seasons ever. I did not attend or watch a game of theirs. Why would I want to tune in or even pay for a ticket to likely see the worst NBA team lose another game (especially with such high ticket prices)?
Now that they have turned it all around, of course I'm a fan, and interested in the team. I don't cheer on mediocrity (or worse) and certainly won't pay to see it. But a GOOD team? That I'm a fan of. How is that a bad thing? - MRintheKeys, on 04/24/2008, -1/+4What is this hockey you speak of?
- idontlikeyou2, on 04/24/2008, -1/+4I've never been a boston fan, but I do want them to win, not because of their success but because of KG. Garnett was a basically screwed in Minnesota because of Kevin McHale's mismanagement and illegal dealing that cost them draft picks and chance to build a solid team but he remained loyal till the fallout with the owner. The wolves managed to reach the conference final but lost to LA because of dubious referee decisions. It would be ashame for KG not to win a title for one of the all time elite players in the game.
- inactive, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2I'm from Boston and I'm not offended by Bibby's comments. It is true. There will always be lots of bandwagon jumpers and anyone that's been to one of sports teams games lately knows this. There's a bunch of "fans" (usually women) that know KG, Allen, and Pierce, but don't know any other players, what position they play or how the game is played. Red Sox bandwagon fans are even worse. They wear the pink "B" hats and only know Ortiz, Ramirez, and Jacoby Ellsbury (because he's "cute"). The main problem with bandwagon fans is they drive up the ticket prices for true fans. So it is true that I'm sure Bibby didn't see a lot of these "fans" last year.
- pk7677, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Hell yea we are, who doesn't want to cheer for a good team?
- pandikukka, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2As Garnett said You have to let your balls do the talking
- Bukowsky, on 04/24/2008, -6/+8Mike Bibby's just jealous cuz the Celtics are gonna win the whole thing... (unfortunately)
- pixelate, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Kermit's not as weird-looking, though.
- Duositex, on 04/24/2008, -1/+3Basketball is entertainment. I hate when people lift sports and sports teams up onto a pedestal of importance like somehow your enjoyment of it is directly tied to your ethics and morality. This is ridiculous. If a bunch of people are excited that suddenly the Celtics are good, who gives a crap. What are the Boston-area folks supposed to do, not care that they have the best team in the NBA playing in their city??
- wigginz, on 04/24/2008, -0/+2Mike Bibby sounds like Kermit the Frog.
- kywirelessguy, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2When you're a real fan, you're there even when they are losing. Its the same with any team though, not just boston.
I'm a Packers fan. Have been since a few years before they signed Brett Favre, so I know what its like to support a losing team. - inactive, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1they are good!
- inactive, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1I've been a New England sports fan all my life, and I've lived in 4 different states for long periods. But I don't get offended when someone suddenly becomes a fan......I say welcome to the family.
- D3ADBOLT, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1No....Bruins fans are bandwagon jumpers...now everybody put your Bourque and Neely jerseys away till next time
- LOPposse, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Bibby is coming from Sacramento where the Kings played to sold out crowds every night all through the 80's and 90's and couldn't make the playoffs.
- duniyadnd, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1This is the NBA, teams go by salary caps and Boston never had to worry about how much they had to spend, they're a pretty big franchise in their own right even when they suck (like the Knicks)
http://hoopshype.com/salaries/boston.htm - Gatchaman, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Unless you have been supporting your team for years through good and bad times, you are a bandwagoner.
- zombies66, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1Bibby is a douchebag!
- jimmies, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2Hate him all you want, he's right.
- azbmr, on 04/24/2008, -1/+2The bruins just left the NHL playoffs, but the Boston sports scene has been pretty impressive this year (though I personally abhor the Pats).
- phornung, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1I'm a Pistons fan as well, and I can fairly say that Detroit has its own new slew of bandwagon fans - Tiger fans. I couldn't give a crap about the Tigers for the last 10 years, much like most Detroiters. Now that they've bought a team (like Boston Celtics have), the fans are lining up again. I'm genuinely curious about the image they have around the rest of the league. It's not just a Boston thing, it's the problem with any team that goes from horrible to great in a short period of time (usually through monster trades and free agency).
- HeDiggMe, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1After the Caps loss and DeShawn running his mouth, I'm just counting the days to Redskins training camp. We need to ship DeShawn Stevenson to Alaska or put a ***** muzzle on that guy. I cant stand him.
- reaper527, on 04/24/2008, -0/+1a 2nd 19 point loss that is ;)
- relayer2112, on 04/24/2008, -1/+1Well duh.... it's called increasing your fan base which increases your revenues as a ball club which allows the club to afford better players which brings in more fans which brings in more money.... did everyone just wake up or something?
- whitemage, on 04/24/2008, -0/+0this kinda reminds me of when diggers talk about the days when it was only tech on digg and complain that digg went mainstream
- mydave, on 08/13/2008, -0/+0I think good nick.

http://www.felixdelcampo.com - Tikisam, on 04/24/2008, -1/+1How can you say unfortunately?!? The Celtics are a lovable team why not.
I'm pulling for teams in this order
1- Utah
2- Phoenix
3- Boston
Anybody else and I'll be pretty sad - senseiurata, on 04/24/2008, -0/+0The Hawks would like to replicate the Warriors' dream season last year by beating the Celtics... but it's just not guna happen. Hopefully, KG and Jesus Shuttlesworth will get their well-deserved rings this year.
- Cglass, on 04/24/2008, -2/+1I don't think they can stop the Lakers if they decide to play defense, whole thing is plausible but not yet confirmed.
- inactive, on 04/24/2008, -2/+1He was probably secretly filmed saying this at practice as well!!!!
- bicyclethief, on 04/24/2008, -3/+1He's won plenty, thanks. It's called the Sacramento Kings.
- iamnobody8614, on 04/24/2008, -3/+1Wait, the NBA still exists?
- dangerdeej, on 04/24/2008, -4/+1Whats the worst that can happen? The Hawks were already going to get swept and lose each game by 25 anyway. What now, they lose by 35? Anyway, what he said is true. Boston and New York are the two worst bandwagon fan cities in the nation. Look back at the stupid Red Sox Nation vs Yankees Universe crap. "Theres more fans all over the country." Yes, the Red Sox have that right now because they are winning. Between 96-02 Yankees hats were everywhere (no thanks to Fred Durst and that stupid red hat) because they were winning multiple world series championships. So dumb. Both cities need to shut up. Support your team or don't.
- jayscot, on 04/24/2008, -6/+3What, Digg doesn't have a who gives a ***** category?
- RizzoFrank, on 04/24/2008, -3/+0And they were right. I'm crying like a bitch right now 'cuz you hurt my feelings.
- thethinktank, on 04/24/2008, -15/+8He's right. Boston fans are brainless douchebags. As a Pistons fan, we have our share of rivalries-- the lakers, the bulls, the cavs, and more. Every fan I interact with on the blogosphere from all these teams are actually good people, sportsmanlike and willing to be objective about both times (with a few exceptions here and there). But Boston fans, almost entirely, are ***** *****. Boston is a great team, they've had an amazing year. Boston fans, however, are a bunch of bandwagon *****.
- RizzoFrank, on 04/24/2008, -11/+1Boston is so over rated, can't wait til they get beat and cry like bitches.
What is Digg?
Check out the new & improved
