- wannaBdug, on 06/24/2009, -0/+74Can you blame him. How can you live up to Michael?
- Quick2822, on 06/25/2009, -0/+49Maybe it's because, as the person who submitted this story proved, he will always be known as "Michael Jordan's son"
- inactive, on 06/25/2009, -0/+36Ok if my dad was as good at anything as Michael Jordan is at basketball I'd avoid it like the plague, it's every mans right to grow up and surpass his father, sometimes you just can't best your father at his own game you have to pick your own.
- wo0dy, on 06/25/2009, -3/+22Personally, I can't wait for starcraft 2.
- ddawggin, on 06/25/2009, -0/+19You eat him to gain his magical powers?
- ToastedFart, on 06/25/2009, -0/+16Simply put, you can't, and I guess he realized that.
- Egotrippin, on 06/25/2009, -0/+15Marcus is still playing. He's arguably the more talented of the two. But it's fine, if he doesn't want to play, he doesn't to play.
- JasonHaley, on 06/25/2009, -1/+15"This whole putting a ball in a basket for millions thing just isn't worth it to me. I'd rather read about life and further my knowledge of the world around me."
Sounds reasonable. - inactive, on 06/25/2009, -0/+14you accidently the sentence
- ABip13, on 06/25/2009, -0/+13Considering he couldn't even earn a scholarship from a major D-1 school (he had to walk-on), no pro team would probably be willing to sign him to a contract.
- kdmkdmkdm, on 06/25/2009, -0/+12Then he gets kidnapped by Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck
- method7670, on 06/25/2009, -3/+15Good call. There are things more important than sports! I wish some athletes would realize this.
P.S. I played sports until I hit college. - Lionhart, on 06/25/2009, -1/+11Jordan came to Illinois as a walk-on, but was put on scholarship for the spring semester this year. He played in 59 games over two seasons, scoring 58 points.
That sounds like a good reason to stop. Less than 1 point a game. - mattmollysdad, on 06/25/2009, -3/+11best he work on being a great investor/accountant as he's going to inherit huge bucks.
- dizmoz, on 06/25/2009, -2/+10ugh.. what?
- KingBroseph, on 06/25/2009, -0/+6He really should have picked baseball if he wanted to be better than his dad at something. Wouldn't have been that hard... or maybe acting.
Edit: actually space jam is awesome. - DaviDTC, on 06/25/2009, -3/+8What article is that from?
- PwncakesFTW, on 06/25/2009, -0/+5I really don't blame him, he wasn't getting that much playing time and probably wasn't going to play professionally.
- NecroSexy, on 06/25/2009, -0/+5As if he was good enough to make the NBA!
And I don't appreciate his marginalization of MJ's career. He didn't have to play with the flu in Game 5 against the Jazz in '97. - DanielFaraday, on 06/25/2009, -1/+6So is this like Jesus quitting Christianity? I am not familiar with sports.
- Kuestionmark, on 06/25/2009, -1/+6we'll see how he does at baseball
- Dou6, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4Truth is he is better off spending his time focused on business to continue the family empire.
- bubbameister33, on 06/25/2009, -1/+5You do.
- salinemist, on 06/25/2009, -1/+5Tell MJ's former ring-wearing teammates Pippen and Rodman that Abip13.
- eddie72, on 06/25/2009, -1/+5Really? Professional Athletes get paid millions of dollars a year. That is quite a bit more than the average citizen makes. And as great as our economy is right now, if I was in college under a sports scholarship that might lead me down the path to prosperity, I doubt I'd toss that career option out the window.
- cshilney, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4you accidentally
- mrogi, on 06/25/2009, -2/+5The kid is gonna inherit a nice piece of a billion dollar fortune. He should spend all of his time bouncing hot chicks on his lap instead of bouncing a basketball.
- cshilney, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3Or do something that he wants to do and have someone else do that dirty work for him.
Unless of course he does want to be an investor or accountant. But I tried that path and it definitely takes a certain something that most people don't have. - kdmkdmkdm, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3WOW. That is NOT how the Space Jam song goes.
- spvn, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3Luke and Bill Walton proved otherwise...
- cshilney, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3I don't think you're following. He wants to do something he loves rather than rake in a whole lot of money. Money is important but happiness trumps money.
- Pyrofool, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3my roommate this year was a manager for the team, and I remember him coming home from practice and was like "Jeff Jordan just quit the team!" He then told our other roommate and me that we probably shouldn't say anything. I guess it was just a lot of stress built up from a few different things. It's not hard to believe though.
- inactive, on 06/25/2009, -2/+4That's some ignorant ***** there. ummmhmmm.
- gizmo12688, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2I'm glad it wasn't Marcus, cause I go to UCF....
- Barackalypse, on 06/25/2009, -1/+3Why waste a scholarship on a kid with a dad that earns $45 million a year in endorsements?
http://www.forbes.com/2009/06/17/top-earning-athle ... - inactive, on 06/25/2009, -3/+5ROFLMAOMAOMAO....OOO MAO MAO BA BA OOO MAO MAO BA BA BA OOO MAO MAO
- jaxontyler, on 06/25/2009, -1/+3I didn't know he had a son named Jeff. I thought it was talking about Marcus who is going to UCF lol.
- gkiltz, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2He WOULD be better off in some other sport.Kyle Rote Jr turned out to be a great soccer player, in several countries in Europe!
George Foreman had a son who played in the NFL!
D.J. Strawberry is a basketball player.
Often, the only way to become their own person is to play a sport different than what their parent played. - nuyorican313, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2i call bull. was a manager, meaning in the past, and yet this just happened. so no
- skit4king, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Maybe take up golf?
- virtualcorey, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2maybe he has discovered his true love is singing in musicals. His story could be the plot for High School Musical 4.
- QueenTiye, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2....what the hell are you talking about?
- drizzlelicious, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Well said, good sir
- TobiasParker, on 06/25/2009, -3/+5The one where it is a joke about Michael Jordan quitting basketball and going to play baseball.
- kingvik, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1No, they don't. The professional athletes that you hear about do but what about the majority that don't play in the NFL, NBA, MLB, etc. but in minor leagues and stuff.
- cshilney, on 06/25/2009, -2/+3Ever think he just doesn't like basketball as much anymore and that he doesn't care about the money aspect?
- llopez1223, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1His dad is Michael Jordan, who not only got rich playing basketball, but with endorsements , and a whole slew of business ventures. I doubt he has much to worry about financially. I'm not saying he's spoiled, just that if he runs into financial trouble for whatever reason his dad has the cash to help him out.
- RiotHeart, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1Actually i'd be more entitled to. How many teams would sign him for a good chunk of change just because of the name alone?
- Dongvid, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1I hear he's totally full of himself. He's probably some BS major like "Recreation, Sports, and Tourism." He just wants to drink more and relax, probably, and not have to practice so much. I dont blame him, heh.
- TheRedNewt, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1Yeah, but if you know it's not going anywhere and may stand in the way of academics, it's a very smart move. If it hurts academics, but you're going to the pros, it's not a problem. If you can do both, it's no problem. However, if you're sacrificing education that will help you in life for a sport that isn't getting you anywhere, that's when it makes sense to quit.
Also, if you're sick of playing. -
