Michael Jordan: "I can stop Kobe Bryant One-on-One" watch!

- electricwaffles, on 08/05/2008, -1/+84I wanna be like Mike!
- Pronation, on 08/06/2008, -1/+38So does Kobe!
- bsolidgold, on 08/06/2008, -0/+25Even if Kobe eventually matches his skill to MJ's... he will never have as much class as His Airness. That right there is what defines a true role model; pure class.
- jessechan, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1MJ had much faster reflexes and foot speed in his prime. Check out Hoopsencyclopedia on YouTube to see some compilations of Jordan's incredible aerial moves, hangtime, and speed. Kobe match MJ? Not a chance.
- xPsych0, on 08/06/2008, -1/+3"I don't want to be the next Michael Jordan, I only want to be Kobe Bryant."
- Kobe - feshmania, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1@jesschan
Actually there's videos out there that show Kobe executing almost move-for-move plays that Jordan did back in the day.
http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1816997 - jessechan, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1@feshmania
Yes, Kobe has modeled his game after Jordan's so has a lot of similar moves, but take a look at some of Jordan's moves that have been un-copyable. It's pretty incredible. Jordan has longer hangtime, bigger hands, faster reflexes, higher vertical, better first step, etc. Kobe is the closest to Jordan, but still not Jordan.
- Croecop, on 08/06/2008, -10/+2Sounds like you want to be inside Mike.
- Pronation, on 08/06/2008, -1/+38So does Kobe!
- mattmcegg, on 08/05/2008, -1/+78the best ever
- Mac454, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1I would have loved to see Jordan and Bird ACTUALLY play a game of horse. THAT would have been awesome.
Instead of doing the silly NBA player, WNBA player, old player team thing during the All-Star break, they should have a bracketed playoff with the top shooters in the NBA playing horse, with only a few basic rules. Halfcourt shots, over the backboard, from the scorer's table, etc.
...nothin' but net.
- Mac454, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1I would have loved to see Jordan and Bird ACTUALLY play a game of horse. THAT would have been awesome.
- jessetessej, on 08/05/2008, -3/+159I believe him.
- mstrebe, on 08/06/2008, -6/+8I do too, especially considering that when Jordan was in his prime Kobe was 14. Jordan vs. 14yo Kobe: Jordan!
- arunforce, on 08/06/2008, -0/+3I need proof. Matchup pls.
/sarcasm
I still want to see them go head to head. - sny1120, on 08/06/2008, -8/+3I don't. Good offense will always beat good defense.
1997-98 is the Bull's three-peat year and this video
shows Jordan in his prime unable to stop a 19 year old
Kobe Bryant. And vice versa.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BC5sW1Xnj3g
However, a simple comparison of Jordan's 97-98 stats with Bryant's 07-08
shows Bryant with 1.84 stl/gm with Jordan only 1.7
shows Bryant with 4.8 DReb/gm with Jordan only 4.2
Don't forget Bryant blocks shots too. Watch Kobe block Jordan in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zo2lQNzBSYc
The league is now saturated with talent. Jordan in his prime playing
in today's league would not get the same stats as Bryant.
Wont even get close to 81- Valiantheart, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1You must be joking. When Jordan played defenders who arm check and push on the perimeter all they liked. Now you cant even touch a player without a foul call (see: Dwayne Wade, Miami v. Dallas). Jordan would probably average 45 in today's league.
- tryangles, on 08/06/2008, -2/+2I don't know why people are hating on your post but you state a point with your analysis. Another interesting thing to notate in comparing Kobe of today to MJ of yesterday. - Zone defense- Kobe is still tearing team aparts being double and triple teamed left and right with collapsing defenses inside the paint. I am not so sure MJ would've been able to do some of the things he did if he faced the kind of looks teams throw at #24 today. These guys are still both greats in their own time.
- pipes27, on 08/05/2008, -1/+63Man, I miss those days.
- foss3, on 08/05/2008, -4/+180The thing with Jordan is back when he was king it was all about the sport. We didn't really know if he was a prick in real life or not and didn't care. He didn't make a celebrity out of himself except for a few ads. So we just know him as Michael Jordan, best basketball player of all time.
- pegisys, on 08/06/2008, -33/+6Good for him because he is probably a bigger prick than Kobe in real life.
- theuncommonman, on 08/06/2008, -3/+1lol this guy has -23 diggs, I was going to digg him down but that's just too poetic.
- UNDERSTAR, on 08/06/2008, -0/+16*cough**cough*SPACE JAM*Cough**cough*

- iofthestorm, on 08/06/2008, -0/+15Space Jam was awesome.
- MrGold79, on 08/07/2008, -0/+1Yeah actually Space Jam made me want to play basketball
- stevieraveon, on 08/06/2008, -0/+5And a bigger gambler than Charles Barkley
- quomen, on 08/06/2008, -0/+9I love Michael but you're wrong. He's made a ridiculous amount of advertisements.
- Godlike, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1Haynes?
- AchaIemoipas, on 08/06/2008, -0/+4The man had his own shoes, clothing line, perfume, underwear ads, made a ***** cartoon movie.
You're thinking of the 70's.- foss3, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1I guess my point was more that he didn't make an ass of himself. Yeah he whored himself out but that is reasonable since who doesn't in this country if they had the chance to make millions? He wasn't going out showing off his money and getting pictured with whores and getting arrested for drinking and driving or whatever. Maybe he did those things but he kept it on the down low.
Most remember him not for Space Jam or Hanes undies but as not only one of the best basketball players of all time but one of the greatest of any sport. That says something I think.
The only negative thing I could say about him as an athlete is he failed in baseball. That was silly.
Gonna give a shout out to Walter Payton too. Another Chicago legend.
- foss3, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1I guess my point was more that he didn't make an ass of himself. - Flashtone, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1trumpcard < *****
- whiteknives, on 08/05/2008, -18/+204Jordan loves the game. Kobe loves the fame.
Jordan > Kobe- mlvassallo, on 08/06/2008, -3/+16I love Jordan... but least we forget he also loved the money.
- ScottMitchell, on 08/06/2008, -0/+10And the gambling. And the women.
- Lokomis, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2...but don't we all when we can (and do!) partake of them?
- ruddy, on 08/06/2008, -14/+15Kobe would rape Jordan... Literally, he would. He's that way. Then he'd buy his wife another diamond bolder.
- LeonHRodriguez, on 08/06/2008, -0/+0I think she'd be much happier with him (attempting) to rape the greatest basketball player ever as opposed to some random chamber-maid from Colorado.
- EvoPsy, on 08/06/2008, -3/+16Anyone who thinks that Kobe Bryant isn't completely infatuated with basketball has no business commenting on here.
- mlvassallo, on 08/06/2008, -1/+3Yeah, its allowed him to skip getting an education, cheat on his wife, rape women and afford lots of expensive things. I'd love basketball if I were him as well.
- EvoPsy, on 08/07/2008, -1/+1You're just an angel aren't you.
And if you knew anything about Kobe Bryant you would know that he one of the most educated and well-spoken people in the NBA.
But you don't, so you wouldn't know that. Cause you just buy into the media ***** and pretend like you know something. - mlvassallo, on 08/08/2008, -0/+1Compared to Kobe, I'm a mother ***** saint.
- elshizzo, on 08/06/2008, -9/+6There's one thing all kobe haters have in common - jealousy. [you can deny it, but you know its true]
- duniyadnd, on 08/06/2008, -1/+5To say one player is better than another is because we're jealous?? That makes no sense.
- cr4ft, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1I'll get dugg down but it's true, a lot of it has to do with jealousy. You don't win MVP without being a team player, and you certainly don't become a ball-hog by averaging over 5 assists per game.
And to duniyadnd, sure, you can be jealous and say one player is better than another. It's sort of equivalent to a jealous girlfriend saying her current boyfriend is better at sex than her ex.
- dankers, on 08/06/2008, -5/+4No Kobe had the game long before he had the fame, it's LA though so of course his fame is going to be world famous.
Air Jordans were probably the biggest thing since sliced bread, I would say Jordan could handle both the game and the fame.
All the Kobe haters have just resorted to comparisons of the greatest basketball player ever constantly every week, it just shows how truly great he is but they would rather not admit it. Instead they try to compare him so he looks like the loser.
Stop getting caught up in the drama with kobe's private life or maybe you guys should just watch all the day time dramas for chicks on tv. When it comes down to it Kobe throws down the points and not to mention the famous 81 points which is so much harder to achive against todays defense than it was back in Jordan/Kareem era. Kobe makes basketball fun to watch unlike a lot of the other players, he has one of the best fade away shots ever and can draw the most ridiculous fouls while still making the shot. - precision256, on 08/06/2008, -1/+3Remember when Jordan quit basketball to play baseball?
- mlvassallo, on 08/06/2008, -3/+16I love Jordan... but least we forget he also loved the money.
- Flafan, on 08/05/2008, -2/+83LOL at people who compare Kobe to MJ. Nobody could touch Air Jordan, and there might never be anyone as good.
- univerio, on 08/06/2008, -12/+6Yeah, how the hell do you compare Kobe and Michael Jackson?
- theredbanana, on 08/06/2008, -2/+10that was lame
- RandomFruitBat, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1Oh I thought he meant Maria Jimenez, the flamenco dancing she-god.
http://www.flamenco-world.com/magazine/about/maria ...
You're right, she wouldn't touch him. She would light his soul on fire! - univerio, on 08/06/2008, -0/+3Tough crowd.
- precision256, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2Kobe vs marijuana!
- Import98, on 08/06/2008, -2/+7Lebron's pretty good. Give him a few years.
But there will never be another like Mr. Air Jordan. Ever- Godlike, on 08/06/2008, -2/+1People say good stuff about Iverson. Not that he's on that level though...
- wicketr, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2Kobe is not a Jordan. He's a glorified scorer. Lebron could be on the level of Jordan, but he's going to have to get much better at defense and being clutch.
Jordan won the NBA MVP and Defensive Player of the Year. Has anyone else done that??? Nope.
- univerio, on 08/06/2008, -12/+6Yeah, how the hell do you compare Kobe and Michael Jackson?
- InvisibleInk, on 08/05/2008, -1/+26Make your Kobe vs. Michael vote count.
http://www.whowouldkickass.com/people/kobe-bryant- ...- urgeigh, on 08/06/2008, -0/+9Heh, they spelled Jordan wrong. Twice.
- kodax, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1Its not even close on that site. Jordan has like 95% of the votes. Even paper is doing better against scissor over there.
- MattFromSeattle, on 08/05/2008, -1/+73As talented as Kobe, Lebron, Carmelo, etc. may be, they will never top Air Jordan. Come on, the man is responsible for captivating an entire generation with his skills, to the point that people still hold his accomplishments in such high regard we're still talking about him - how do you even try and compare?
- bsolidgold, on 08/06/2008, -4/+7As much as I dislike Kobe... Carmelo Anthony does not deserve to be grouped with him. He is a thug and nothing but a thug. Why is he on the Olympic team? Beats me. There are several players that are better and more deserving than he is.
/rant- whataboutdave, on 08/06/2008, -2/+5Carmelo dropped 40 points on Italy last summer in an international game. He may be a bit immature but you can't doubt the man's talent.
There's a reason he is one of team USA's captains. - Temo1, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1'Melo fits the FIBA game better than anyone else we've sent to Beijing (except maybe Redd, though his game is a bit specialized)
- whataboutdave, on 08/06/2008, -2/+5Carmelo dropped 40 points on Italy last summer in an international game. He may be a bit immature but you can't doubt the man's talent.

- markperia, on 08/06/2008, -4/+27He's just being humble. I bet he can still go toe to toe with Kobe right now and come out on top.
- iburydupes, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1bump!
+1
- pgup, on 08/06/2008, -1/+100Dugg for MJ schooling little kids.
- HoboMaster, on 08/06/2008, -0/+7It's funny because there was one little kid who I thought was covering him pretty well, and all MJ did was shoot over him three times.
Yes, Michael, we know you're taller than a 12 year old.- Kishoba, on 08/06/2008, -0/+3At the same time, the kid wasn't pressuring him. He might be trying to teach them that. A good shooter unpressured will continue to score on you, but you also have to be quick when you get up on someone so they don't go around you like he did with many of the other kids.
- Reaktor5, on 08/06/2008, -2/+11There's a Michael Jackson joke in there somewhere, I just know it.
- wc3452, on 08/06/2008, -0/+5Man, what I would give to be one of those kids. It's a story I'd tell my grandkids, I played one-on-one with the greatest basketball player ever. Yes, even in like 2030 Michael Jordan will still be the best basketball player to grace this earth.
- HoboMaster, on 08/06/2008, -0/+7It's funny because there was one little kid who I thought was covering him pretty well, and all MJ did was shoot over him three times.
- whoomp123, on 08/06/2008, -12/+0The only reason Kobe, Lebron, Wade, etc. are superstars is because they changed the rules for MJ. Things like palming the ball for a second longer and the stupid jump stop *****.
- Rossoneri22, on 08/06/2008, -1/+10wow their server got destroyed.
- eraser34, on 08/06/2008, -3/+52Comment taken out of context, but Dugg for Jordan hitting every ***** shot.
- tasteinmymouth, on 08/06/2008, -8/+2If edit the reel enough, I can hit every shot too.
- eraser34, on 08/06/2008, -0/+12Probably not even George Lucas could make you hit something other than air.
- elshizzo, on 08/06/2008, -3/+1they edited out the misses, dur
- chrismartens26, on 08/06/2008, -0/+7That's why during an un-chopped portion of video he goes around the world and doesn't miss. How many times do you think they had to cut him out missing a shot?
- wc3452, on 08/06/2008, -0/+4NO THEY DIDN'T! MICHAEL JORDAN IS 100% GOD.
- infinitesnowboy, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1He obviously didn't make every shot. During the part where he went around the world, yeah he did. But in the part against the kids, it shows one of the kids getting blocked by Jordan. If the kid had a chance to shoot after Jordan's 2nd shot, it means that Jordan missed before.
- tasteinmymouth, on 08/06/2008, -8/+2If edit the reel enough, I can hit every shot too.
- twishart, on 08/06/2008, -0/+21***** right he can.

- geniusj, on 08/06/2008, -0/+23rd that.. It's amazing how he captivated so many people.. I was a Knicks fan though, so there were frequent face-offs between the two teams. I still remember the missed lay-up in the last second that would have given the Knicks a title over the Bulls.
Long story short, Jordan was the ***** :)

- brycelb, on 08/06/2008, -12/+5Well, since the site is down I have to assume he meant "in his prime" because Kobe has already taken Jordan when he decided he could still play ball and went to the Wizards. That said, it's nice banter but how can anyone know. Jordan was a great defender but I have yet to see ANYONE handle Kobe. Not claiming he is better but there certainly is a conversation to be had. Who cares anyway the greatest player to ever lace um up was Kareem. The stats don't lie. I don't remember them changing any rules because Jordan or Kobe were dominating to much.
- topgun553, on 08/06/2008, -0/+9"That said, it's nice banter but how can anyone know. Jordan was a great defender but I have yet to see ANYONE handle Kobe"

I do think he'd stop Kobe. - chrissku, on 08/06/2008, -7/+1Calm down there big boy. Want don't you go play some one on one with Brett Favre. I hear he's looking for some action too.
- RioMo, on 08/06/2008, -1/+1I'm not at all surprised that a douche bag from ku would have this response... After all, Paul Pierce just announced that he's the best player in the world. You ku idiots are delusional.
- urgeigh, on 08/06/2008, -3/+7I don't even think Kobe is the most talented player in the league currently. There's no comparison to MJ.
