LeBron James dunks $20G's in the basket for Barack Obama
latimesblogs.latimes.com — Has *any* NBA player endorsed John McCain?

- canewediggit, on 07/28/2008, -2/+15i think keith van horn did.
- GPSCenter, on 07/28/2008, -4/+4HAHA, please tell me you are joking.
- QuadZeroRoute, on 07/29/2008, -24/+10Has *any* NBA player endorsed John McCain?
With 90% of the blacks endorsing Obama in the general election, and the NBA being made up of 90% black unedumicated high school mentality gang banger assholes I am not going to hold my breath waiting to find out if even one will endorse McCain.
The NBA sucks.- whoomp123, on 07/29/2008, -7/+3you can't really blame them for not being educated. why waste time with education when your natural athletic abilities will make you millions.
- QuadZeroRoute, on 07/29/2008, -7/+4whoomp123, because you may have to communicate with those who follow your sport, second because when your career ends you may have to find gainful employment, third so as to stay out of prison, and fourth someone may ask you to enumerate the reasons why you endorse a candidate having no accomplishments....at least you will be able to lie your ass off in style.
- cyrix, on 07/29/2008, -4/+10Wow....no racism here at all... I like how you just point out that it's the black players who are "uneducated." Or is it you're just jealous that they're millionaires for playing a sport and you're piss broke doing "actual work" delivering pizzas?
- charm803, on 07/29/2008, -2/+3I thought it was because Obama is a great basketball player himself.
He's black? - QuadZeroRoute, on 07/29/2008, -6/+490% black unedumicated high school mentality gang banger assholes....the remainder of persons in the NBA, being white or black are not unedumicated high school mentality gang banger assholes. Probably 10% of the NBA can walk, talk, and chew gum at the same time, do not have tattoos, lie cheat and steal their way through life. I feel the same way about the NFL so don't get bent out of shape over the NBA.
No racism....just the facts. Or are you one of those people with their head stuffed up their ass and read Sports Illustrated all day and think athletes are Gods?
Here is a simple question. What type of tennis shoe are you wearing? If it is sponsored by any major athlete you are an ass.
Also I am not delivering pizzas like so many of your pathetic liberal high school Digg friends, I am a network engineer. Sorry.
- waterdrop, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2Keith Van Horn still plays in the NBA?
- york2600, on 07/28/2008, -5/+98Would it matter if a basketball player endorsed him. I'm an Obama supporter, but who gives a ***** what a basketball player thinks. They don't hire them for their intelligence.
- Odenized, on 07/29/2008, -11/+4It matters because of publicity and word of mouth. When you think about it, $20G's is minuscule in a presidential campaign.
- cusoman, on 07/29/2008, -2/+11I must have missed something, when did the general populace start turning to basketball players to get advice and direction on politics? Like york up there said, no one gives a damn what a basketball player thinks about politics, unless that basketball player just happens to be seriously running for office.
- hwy9nightkid, on 07/29/2008, -4/+3@cusoman, I don't think the point was WHO IS LEBRON SUPPORTING???
it's gee, I like Obama already, and look who else does too.. yay
Of course I don't care if they vote for someone or not, but it's nice to know for ppl who share that vote. geez - tacofarts, on 07/29/2008, -0/+0I know I'm going to get buried, but....
http://youtube.com/watch?v=MmLBkpc_9RE
- sovereign3, on 07/29/2008, -14/+8Why the hell do you use this as an opportunity to slam basketball players' intelligence?
- icdapoakr, on 07/29/2008, -5/+9Because they don't hire them for their intelligence. It's about their physical ability
- RadioFreeOpium, on 07/29/2008, -2/+3he wasn't using it as an opportunity to slam (no pun intended?) basketball players intelligence, he was pointing what I think came to a a lot of our minds.
- sovereign3, on 07/29/2008, -1/+2Basically what he's saying is we shouldn't care because basketball players aren't "smart" enough to matter.
What came to my mind is that we shouldn't care because he's just a basketball player. It had nothing to do with intelligence. Last I checked, we don't require IQ tests before casting a ballot.
- forumz, on 07/29/2008, -9/+1It's good 'cause the millions of basketball fans who idolize them might follow in their footsteps and support Obama aswell
- willster580, on 07/29/2008, -1/+1That's one of the worst reasons to support a politician.
- willster580, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1Why the ***** am I being dugg down?
- vbullinger, on 07/29/2008, -1/+4Good call, york2600, no matter who you support, this kind of thing shouldn't matter.
- charm803, on 07/29/2008, -2/+3He wasn't endorsing him as he was so much just contributing to his campaign.
- RajDhillon, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1You'd be surprised how many idiots there are that jump on the any bandwagon that their favorite athlete/singer/actor/rapper/entertainer does.
Rappers have been getting a lot of scrutiny over not using their power in the black community to show support for a candidate. Diddy tried with the whole VOTE OR DIE campaign, but that didn't go far.
But yeah, Obama all the way. - Harboggles, on 07/29/2008, -0/+4Because hundreds of thousands of people idolize him. That's how it works. It's not cool, but it's how it is.
- Labourer, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2Some might say that it is entirely predictable that one basketball player or another would endorse obama. What is the big surprise here. What is more of a surprise is that more have not.
Of course many will say , what do basketball players know about diddly squat, but what does the general public know . Approximately the same amount. So in the current environment this guys endorsement does count for a fair bit. - wjackson, on 07/30/2008, -0/+3I agree with you, although I feel it necessary to mention that LeBron is one of the most business savvy players in pro sports. He's being mentored by Tiger Wood, Warren Buffet, and Michael Jordan, and Nike has assembled entire team for him to work with for his marketing; they even make strategy adjustments based on his performance.
I read in a Forbes article that he created his own holdings company to get around some nasty taxes, etc. and he - along with Tiger Woods - are on track to be Billion-dollar athletes. I understand your point, but the quip about his intelligence might not be applicable here. He's a pretty bright kid. - dubhousing, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1No one's asking you to care. It's interesting, just as major donations are interesting generally. Consider these questions:
A bit-player on the Cavs circulated a petition around the league asking players to call on China to sever its ties with Sudan, with the ultimatum of non-participation in the Olympics. Lebron is a captain on the team. He didn't sign the petition, however. Is it not interesting that an iconic athlete, who did not participate in the former, is choosing to participate in politics now?
People gripe and gripe about hollywood's involvement in the Democratic party and the conceivable impact that that has on our policies toward Israel. How would broader participation by athlete's affect the political agenda? Would it lead to greater support for inner-city investment? Lebron, Russell Simmons, and the RZA have bemoaned the state of their communities (where they grew up, that is). Will they put their money where their mouths are?
- Odenized, on 07/29/2008, -11/+4It matters because of publicity and word of mouth. When you think about it, $20G's is minuscule in a presidential campaign.
- anshuman, on 07/28/2008, -7/+4Super dunk.
- upick, on 07/29/2008, -7/+10OMG i watched the whole video, he's amazing. He is no doubt the best player in my books... He's going to have a longer and better career compared to Kobe
- schuder, on 07/29/2008, -9/+6He's too big and slow. He has a ton of power, but nowhere near the speed Kobe has. Kobe is no Jordan, but Bron is no Kobe. Kobe > King
- slaystench, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1Too slow? You are clearly showing your ignorance with that statement.
- schuder, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1If you compare his speed to that of someone like Kobe, Wade, it's not even close.
- dubhousing, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1Kobe and Wade have agility.
Etan Thomas (I think -- the guy with dreads on the lakers?) watched Lebron run when he was wired for NBA tv and said "he might be the fastest guy in the NBA." He plays for the Lakers. I assume he has at least a passing familiarity with Kobe's abilities.
He's not as quick as the other two, but he's got speed in spades. Keep in mind he was All-Ohio at Wide Receiver in his first two years.
- sovereign3, on 07/29/2008, -4/+3He'd better get an early start on winning championships-- Kobe's already got three!
- twomeyw23334, on 07/29/2008, -1/+2You mean Shaq got 3 while Kobe happened to be playing with him.
- ethon, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2http://youtube.com/watch?v=J95O28iID4I
Kobe can't do that.- bearcat8543, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1http://youtube.com/watch?v=mFl-66WrF_o&feature=rel ...
or that
- bearcat8543, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1http://youtube.com/watch?v=mFl-66WrF_o&feature=rel ...
- schuder, on 07/29/2008, -9/+6He's too big and slow. He has a ton of power, but nowhere near the speed Kobe has. Kobe is no Jordan, but Bron is no Kobe. Kobe > King
- bubbajabbers, on 07/29/2008, -5/+5I am a fan of both, but what a bad title.
- Bukowsky, on 07/29/2008, -2/+26I could careless what an NBA player (or any celebrity) thinks about politics... But, I did find it interesting that Dumars, Bradley, Barkley, Phil Jackson, and now LeBron have all publicly endorsed Obama. I would be willing to bet that 85% of the NBA is going to back Obama.
- Odenized, on 07/29/2008, -2/+10I'd up that to 97 percent of the NBA. :-)
- theotheragentm, on 07/29/2008, -0/+10That's a bet I'd take. I think you'd be lucky if 85% of the NBA voted in this upcoming election. Being a basketball player doesn't make people politically aware.
- Daniel591992, on 07/29/2008, -1/+1Doesn't make people politically unaware either...
- Wiini, on 07/29/2008, -1/+10Nah - I bet the NBA typically goes with the white guy.
- fadetoone, on 07/29/2008, -1/+4So, you do care?
- über, on 07/29/2008, -2/+3*Couldn't* care less. Saying I *could* care less implies that you do, in fact, care some finite amount, which I'm sure is not the point you were trying to make.
- Labourer, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1i take your point here and i have taken issue with someone using this term based on the point you have mentioned.
from memory . could care less is a a shortened version of another saying and so the logic is lost if you get my point. I cant remembe4r the full saying though.
- Labourer, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1i take your point here and i have taken issue with someone using this term based on the point you have mentioned.
- Digger1123, on 07/29/2008, -1/+1@theotheragentm no one said they would vote for him, they endorse him.
- Labourer, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1ok theres no need to split atoms here.
- nuentendu, on 07/29/2008, -1/+38So?
- rald84, on 07/29/2008, -12/+1Dick?
- rdoger6424, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1Sorry, don't swing that way.
- rald84, on 07/29/2008, -12/+1Dick?
- schuder, on 07/29/2008, -2/+6I'm waiting on Luke Walton's endorsement to make my decision. Or Larry Joe Bird haha.
- leerayIG88, on 07/29/2008, -3/+1That's what I call a slam dunk
- OffPiste, on 07/29/2008, -16/+23Impeach Obama.
- SocialPoison, on 07/29/2008, -1/+1...wait what?
- cgruber, on 07/30/2008, -0/+3dugg for hilarious in 3 yrs.
- bearcat8543, on 07/30/2008, -1/+2dugg for complete absurdity
- silicongat, on 07/29/2008, -12/+6Good job Labron! Can't wait until Obama gets elected and starts another war.
- vbullinger, on 07/29/2008, -1/+3Pakistan or Iran? Not sure which one he'll attack first.
Will he be in office long enough to attack North Korea, too? Who knows? Does he have enough Kool-Aid to pass around for two terms? - lulzitsadigg, on 07/29/2008, -3/+3IM TIRED OF OBAMA STARTING SO MANY ***** WARS. ZOMG RON PAUL
- vbullinger, on 07/29/2008, -1/+3Pakistan or Iran? Not sure which one he'll attack first.
- Wiini, on 07/29/2008, -9/+31"has any NBA Player endorsed John McCain"?
Odenized, you're the kind of American I love to hate. Who gives a flying **** whether a celebrity or sports star has endorsed someone. I don't care. I don't wait for celebreties to tell me who to vote for, and what to think.
You suck, and your lame-ass mentiality is *part of what is wrong with America.- dubhousing, on 07/30/2008, -1/+1He was asking a question as a joke, hater. I think that has very little to do with what is wrong with America, when compared to, say, the neoconservative movement and corporate power, jackass.
- gmwjake, on 07/29/2008, -4/+12This is ridiculous, who cares which candidate some over payed athlete endorses? What makes me sick is that Americans make their decisions based on this kind of crap.
- dubhousing, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1If Americans made their decisions on this basis, celebrities (who widely endorse Democrats, particularly A-listers) would have more significant impact than, say, fundamentalist churches.
- barstegry, on 07/29/2008, -5/+16In related news..no ***** and who cares
- rz8472, on 07/29/2008, -1/+2Well actually pro-athletes, just like Hollywood action stars, have typically given more money to Republicans than Democrats. Not that it matters at all though.
- barstegry, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2I had McCain pegged as the candidate that appeals to the young, black man. Not that it matters at all though...
That's sarcasm by the way. - Digger1123, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1Hollywood is superliberal.
- barstegry, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2I had McCain pegged as the candidate that appeals to the young, black man. Not that it matters at all though...

- minuscarlos, on 07/29/2008, -2/+6I want to see him actually dunk $20G's into a basket...
- crazzy88ss, on 07/29/2008, -11/+16Most basket ball players are thugs. Isn't it like 50% are broke within 5 years of retirement?
"Has *any* NBA player endorsed John McCain?"
That sounds like a positive thing for McCain to me...
"Has *any* NBA player endorsed John McCain?"
I'm sure it also helps that a vast majority of NBA players are african american...- ahoy, on 07/29/2008, -6/+1you're an idiot.
- rdoger6424, on 07/30/2008, -0/+2See wjackson's reply to york2600's comment ( http://digg.com/basketball/LeBron_James_dunks_20G_ ... )
"I agree with you, although I feel it necessary to mention that LeBron is one of the most business savvy players in pro sports. The odenized made it seem like being endorsed by an NBA player is what truly qualifies a US Presidential candidate.
- dubhousing, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1nice. i think thugs are the guys who are not fortunate enough to rise out of poverty, without benefit of youth sports support.
got any evidence of your figures? are you just another griping digger
- lukemorris, on 07/29/2008, -6/+6Just as long as Obama doesn't ultimately fail in the playoffs like Lebron always has.
- bearcat8543, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1Hey. HAY! Stop iitttt...
- harrison5394, on 07/29/2008, -16/+2Obama's a *****. Bury me to hell.
- rz8472, on 07/29/2008, -2/+1If I could I would.
- Antialias, on 07/29/2008, -2/+1It's sad that you're so insecure.
- MrLazySmurf, on 07/29/2008, -3/+1I dugg you so ppl could see what kinda pricks we have in this shameless country.
A little about you. Your From MURRIETA California, go to Mt. San Jacinto College . See what kinda dumbass you are, someone can now easily go and beat the ***** out of you. Harrison Scolinos; GOOD LUCK LIVING! - vbullinger, on 07/29/2008, -2/+1Will do.
- charm803, on 07/29/2008, -1/+1By that comment, you are the very definition of a *****.
It originally meant ignorant and stupid. Your face should be next to the word in a dictionary. - Seafea, on 07/29/2008, -1/+1How bout I report you instead?
- theBlaze74, on 07/29/2008, -1/+1Trent Lott is that you?
- fractalman, on 07/29/2008, -3/+18What happened to the $2300 individual maximum contribution? Or was this a personal loan or gift to Obama?
- fatman3991, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2it was a donation to a group that will help obama get elected... not exactly a donation to obama
- weside, on 07/29/2008, -1/+8Fatman is right. By opting out of public financing, Obama and his supporters can get away with this kind of donation by donating to a GROUP that in turn makes an overall contribution. Ethics ftl.
- rald84, on 07/29/2008, -3/+6you realize mccain and the republicans are doing the same thing even WITH public financing?
- PolishLogic, on 07/29/2008, -3/+23I'm waiting to hear Dale Earnhardt Sr. weigh in on the candidates. Then I'll make my decision.
buried.- rdoger6424, on 07/30/2008, -0/+2that "buried" was in bad taste
- PolishLogic, on 07/30/2008, -1/+3Damn, I didn't even notice that. Thanks for the unintended chuckle.
- rdoger6424, on 07/30/2008, -0/+2that "buried" was in bad taste
- trunks333, on 07/29/2008, -2/+20So? Most black celebrities are endorsing Barack Obama because hes black. They do not know the issues he stands for. Look at his horrible FISA vote.
- gregMF, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1So? Most Americans are endorsing John McCain because Barack Obama is black.
- adougy, on 07/29/2008, -12/+7ron paul ftw
- whoomp123, on 07/29/2008, -1/+3this endorsement is slightly less laughable than the chuck norris endorsement
- vbullinger, on 07/29/2008, -0/+3LeBron isn't doing any funny commercials for Obama, therefore... yeah, this is less laughable.
- Cowboy1015, on 07/29/2008, -2/+4I assume the author is being sarcastic... James a mediocre pro player?
- Discobiscuits, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1The author is a ***** douche bag, I'll tell you hwhat.
- vogelshock, on 07/29/2008, -1/+1Odenized -- do you think any NBA player would? Silly question.
- loganro, on 07/29/2008, -8/+3I wonder if Lebron knows that he just dumped $20G's into a terrorist organization?
- samimnot, on 07/29/2008, -4/+1A comment like this, could only come from the mind of someone....that grew up in the south / dropped out in the 8th grade / owns 4 refrigerators (3 of them broke, and sitting on the back porch) and hasn't figured out if you should call her "MOM OR SIS" yet...
- Louis11, on 07/29/2008, -1/+1Can you say self-righteous prick?
- samimnot, on 07/29/2008, -1/+1Yes...I'll admit, that was harsh ;-) the "terrorist org" comment, just set me off.
- loganro, on 07/30/2008, -0/+0Haha, I love pissing people like you off because it is so much fun seeing you become so defensive of this douchebag.
- lsdarling, on 07/29/2008, -0/+3I would like to see Lebron asked some questions to see if he actually has any idea what positions Obama has on some of the important issues this year. That would require Lebron to have an understanding of the basic issues though. Without a basic understanding some of Obama's stances like the windfall tax, gas tax holiday look like good ideas.
- rdoger6424, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1Uhh... Obama was AGAINST the gas tax holiday. Clinton and McCain were for it.
- lotion, on 07/29/2008, -1/+9Nike endorses LeBron James ... Does this mean Nike endorses Barack Obama (Transitive property)?
I must be doing it wrong.- Daniel591992, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2Nah, totally right
- chesscat, on 07/29/2008, -5/+5I would think that the National Black Association would be all for Obama.
- ph1sh55, on 07/29/2008, -2/+2With that comment you have failed to live up to the quality of your name. :
- Hetman, on 07/29/2008, -2/+2I am voting third part, but I hope Obama wins just so everyone will STFU. Seriously it is getting old. All I hear about is I endorse barak Obama. Which is fine with me. Please elaborate why you endorse Obama though. And a satisfactory answer is not because he supports change. You need to at least list some of his basic principles and policies.
- lukemorris, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1Buried for insignificant voting method.
- samimnot, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1I for one...don't believe there is any real "substantial" difference between the policies and/or principles of our political parties (both sides have been in the past / are now / and will continue to be in the future) to an extent, corrupt. I'm voting for Obama, strictly because McCain is "dangerously incompetent" at this stage of his life...
- Hetman, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1I would say choosing between talking head 1and talking head 2 would be an insignificant voting method. Either way you are screwed.
- Discobiscuits, on 07/29/2008, -0/+9This article is a ***** piece of *****.
- k4rm4, on 07/29/2008, -2/+7Sup Digg? Want me to be honest with you? Obama will ruin this country economically and won't be able to change a thing in terms of foreign policy(if Israel wants war against Iran, Israel will have war, and we all know Israel is America's little baby), healthcare(shortage of doctors in U.S. already due to poor pay, UNIVERSALIZE IT? I don't think so), or anything else.
Get over Obama, vote McCain so we can impeach him the first thing he tries something.- EatingPaste, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1Yeah I hate both candidates but there is a strong chance McCain will die and his VP will probably be better than both candidates. Either way I'm voting Barr or writing in Ron Paul.
- SocialPoison, on 07/29/2008, -1/+1Har... if we aren't going to impeach bush what makes you think we'd impeach McCain? And for what it's worth, go do a little' googling... neither candidate has an economic policy or projected budget that's in the black.
- vbullinger, on 07/29/2008, -3/+2LeBron? I've just lost a little respect for you.
Aren't there any fans in Ohio that can explain the New World Order to him? Come on, now. - iammzac, on 07/29/2008, -2/+1I think this will make black people go out and vote.. because now that they see a black person who is famous is going to vote for Obama, they will too. Go black people!
- JFallon126, on 07/29/2008, -2/+2"Has *any* NBA player endorsed John McCain?"
Would *anyone* care if one did? - Hawk2007, on 07/29/2008, -2/+5This digg entry just goes to show how shallow some voters are.
"No NBA player has donated money to McCain! wow! I just love Obama so much more now!!"- ph1sh55, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1Oh, and here I thought you would be pointing out all the responses implying Lebron James is endorsing someone just because he's black, calling the NBA full of thugs where all the players are dumb as bricks, the national black association, or anything else they can possibly use to be arrogant and dismissive. Shallow indeed.
- samimnot, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1Hmmm...not sure having "someone that can dribble a ball, really REALLY well" is an endorsement a political candidate will brag much about. At the same time (because IMHO, McCain is "dangerously incompetent"at this stage of his life) it is being put to a good use.
- rdoger6424, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1wjackson's comment echoes my sentiments here: "I agree with you, although I feel it necessary to mention that LeBron is one of the most business savvy players in pro sports. He's being mentored by Tiger Wood, Warren Buffet, and Michael Jordan, and Nike has assembled entire team for him to work with for his marketing; they even make strategy adjustments based on his performance.
- badfishmedia, on 07/29/2008, -0/+3Seriously, if you are judging candidates by who your favorite NBA player will vote for, chances are you are too much of a loser to remember to register to vote anyway.
- morgino, on 07/29/2008, -2/+8I find it odd that 90% of blacks are voting for Obama, one primary reason is that he is black yet the 10% of whites who wont vote him because hes black are racists. Funny how that works
- LiberalsSuckAss, on 07/29/2008, -1/+5Anyone who diggs down morgino for the above comment is an idiot. He's 100% on the money.
White's can't say jack about race, but blacks can shout it from the rooftops. - Seafea, on 07/29/2008, -2/+2Except in democratic primary polls, more white people who said that race was an issue voted for Hillary rather than black people who said that race was an issue voting for Obama.
Funny how fact checking works.- Louis11, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1Source?
- Ryan32, on 07/29/2008, -0/+3To be honest, 99% of the people I talk to who say they are voting for Obama, don't know the first thing about his policy or stances....
I ask questions and just get dumbfounded looks. I actually dislike both our options at this point, but I refuse to vote for a man who wants to rape the constitution, provide healthcare to illegals, almost double my taxes, and not prosecute illegals (instead he wants to prosecute employers that hire them, like that worked with druggies/dealers).
In a perfect world this smoke he's blowing might work, but in reality just about everything he has proposed would just hurt a majority of people, and help the ones who shouldn't be getting help to begin with.... Ignorance is bliss though, and words like hope and change are all it takes to land a bunch of uneducated voters....- ph1sh55, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1I wish I could say that that same percentage didn't apply to voters on each side...but that's the american public.
- Ryan32, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1ph1sh55, the difference is you don't see any of the other voters (not voting for Obama) running around praising their candidates and spouting off like they are the second coming of christ almighty.
Yet these moron Obama supporters slap stickers all over everything, and blindly support him because it's the "hip" thing to do.
I have spoken to a couple of Obama supporters who like his stance on the issues (i think they are retarded but i still accept the fact that atleast they know what he stands for). Most Obama supporters don't know the first thing about him or what he stands for. I've actually converted a lot of "Obama Supporters" by bringing up his voting history and his stance on things like the 2nd amendment...
- jimmyb3, on 07/29/2008, -1/+1100% accurate. Complete double standard. It makes me sick.
- LiberalsSuckAss, on 07/29/2008, -1/+5Anyone who diggs down morgino for the above comment is an idiot. He's 100% on the money.
- BlackJackJester, on 07/29/2008, -2/+3I bet percentage-wise, $20,000 is less to him than the $100 I gave to RP is to me.
- lukemorris, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2Buried for mention of insignificant candidate.
- Daniel591992, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1Oh boy! You showed him!
- rdoger6424, on 07/30/2008, -0/+1Hopefully those dollars were gold-backed and none of that flimsy fiat currency.
- weside, on 07/29/2008, -1/+2Oh well if LeBron James is down with Obama, then that seals the deal for me.
- stogiesam88, on 07/29/2008, -1/+1"Has *any* NBA player endorsed John McCain?"
Does it *matter*? - iLemon, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2I wonder if his accountant has informed him about how much more of his income will go to the federal government under Obama's new tax plan.
- jmac825, on 07/29/2008, -0/+0And this matters...why again? Last I checked, I certainly didn't care about any NBA player's opinion on politics. And *double-checks* nope, I still don't. :|
- Bender, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2All the more reason NOT to vote for Obama, some ignorant basketball player thinks we all care who he thinks should be president. Which I'm sure has NOTHING to do with race.
- ph1sh55, on 07/29/2008, -1/+1Really? Where did Lebron James say he thinks everyone should care who he believes should be president? In fact please find where he ever implied what you're accusing him of.
It's amazing you're calling a guy who never even commented on politics ignorant and then pretending to know why he endorses somebody. Please refresh your understanding of the word ignorant, because it fits your comments perfectly.
It was simply found that he donated money to the Obama Campaign. This reporter saw it and wrote an article.
Wow what an ignorant guy right?
Pot meet kettle. - Bender, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1Yea, Like Lebron is gonna stand up there and say, "listen up white people, vote for Obama because I like him and gave him 20k". Lebron knew that the media would find out about him giving 20k. If he didn't want people to know, he would have channeled it through other means like many other rich people do.
Point was this is NOT news worthy. Any idiot who votes for a candidate just because a "celeb" says so (AKA ENDORSES) or because of race should have their voting rights revoked.
- ph1sh55, on 07/29/2008, -1/+1Really? Where did Lebron James say he thinks everyone should care who he believes should be president? In fact please find where he ever implied what you're accusing him of.
- Tyrghast, on 07/29/2008, -0/+3Both the major candidates are just copies of each other. This is another one of those "sit in the middle and don't take the side of any issue" elections.
- SSCrow, on 07/29/2008, -0/+1So why would we want to give the GOP another chance?
- ihavefish, on 07/29/2008, -0/+2I think Barack has over 90% of the Black vote everywhere in the US
It's the NBA we're talking about here, not the Olympic swimming team- scamper22, on 07/29/2008, -0/+0yes of course. This is exactly what we want. Votes by tribal allegiance.
- scamper22, on 07/29/2008, -0/+0yes of course. This is exactly what we want. Votes by tribal allegiance.
- reposado, on 07/29/2008, -1/+2Im all for Obama but blacks voting for blacks is old news.
blacks will always vote for blacks indifference of job performance(eg maxine waters).
Also if you notice the only charity famous/rich blacks support has to do w/ Africa or inner city kids etc(ie black related issues). - credential101, on 07/29/2008, -1/+1"He managed to be elected league Rookie of the Year only once."
Naaaa....really? Only once he won the rookie of the year? I thought you can win it like 10 times! - Sunswin, on 07/29/2008, -0/+0I guess $20G's are better than nothing, considering Lebron himself said he wants to be the worlds' richest sportsperson, he can't afford to give away too much more than that - at least that $20,000 donation will hopefully draw enough attention to him and his various brands that he makes triple that amount....
