Kobe Bryant Won't Have Surgery on His Injured Finger

latimes.com — Kobe Bryant will forgo surgery on his right pinkie finger and report to training camp as scheduled when it begins later this month,the Lakers' guard and reigning NBA MVP announced Tuesday on his website.Bryant said that, he consulted with "numerous hand specialists" before making his decision,and opted not to endure a post-operative recovery period

    KB24 is phenomenal...how many athletes would take it upon themselves to delay surgery and play through the pain of a broken finger to help their country bring the hoops gold medal back where it belongs?!? Now he chooses to play through the pain for another ENTIRE NBA season, because he doesnt want to reduce the chances of a Laker NBA title now that Andrew Bynum is healthy again!! Kobe has gradually grown from a moody, occasional team-first player into a great leader who can carry a team on his back, in the Olympics or the NBA!!

  • MisterGnome, on 06/13/2009, -2/+2If everyone stays healthy, Lakers should win 65 games this year. There is no way any team can guard three guys above 6' 10" with Bynum, Gasol, and Odom all on the floor, not to mention the best scorer and bench in the league on top of that.

    They've got all the potential in the world. I'm crossing my (pinky) fingers.

They don't play defense, they're weak at point guard, Gasol is soft, Odom is lazy, Kobe gets rattled by constant double teams, and the bench is overrated. They probably wouldn't have made it past San Antonio if Manu Ginobili was healthy. Going into this season both New Orleans and Boston look better.

It saddens me that those geeks that used to get beat down in high school or were constantly laughed at in gym class because of their horrible athletic skills, still harbor such a resentment towards sports.
