- kenvsryu, on 05/14/2008, -1/+18Now we just need to fire the players.
- RuffRidr, on 05/14/2008, -2/+12They should call him 'Antoni due to his lack of D.
- Cattywampus, on 05/14/2008, -2/+10Since you obviously don't, why did you bother to post a comment on this thread?
- DesignFan, on 05/14/2008, -0/+6How did Isiah last so long? What an embarassment. That guy was pathetic as a coach. Reminds me of Matt Millen as a GM in the NFL.
- Xspire, on 05/14/2008, -0/+6"D'Antoni's offense?" Don't you mean Steve Nash's offense? Is he really that great a coach? Look what he had to work with. Sadly, and I am not saying this because I hate the knicks, because I don't hate the knicks (though they are not my favorite), but it will not take a new coach to help them win, it will probably take a serious roster redo to give them a winning season. My advice would be to give up Stephon "Starbury" Marbury, and get a guard that will actually help them out and probably play for far, far less money. Then again I don't think they are need to replace him with a guard, probably just any player that will play their position in a way that will make those around them better.
- sovereign3, on 05/14/2008, -0/+7What are you? In the fifth grade?
- tim2nyy, on 05/14/2008, -1/+7Starting with Marbury.
- Wailord, on 05/14/2008, -5/+11Only D'Antoni will find a way to make the Knicks defense worse.
- thepretext, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5Diggers, to your shovels!
- trujillonorte, on 05/14/2008, -2/+10As a die hard knick fan, I was hoping they would hire Mark Jackson. Hopefully, D'Antoni's offense works for the Knicks like it did for the Suns.
- Retrospekt, on 05/14/2008, -1/+6Now all they need are 5 talented players...
- BoneStamp, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5You'd think "pro" designers could make a logo with a transparent background or at least match the background color of the logo with the background gradient of the website title bar.
- Sroek, on 05/14/2008, -0/+5This is the same fool who said he wanted to punch Ghandi's face.
- uncommonwords, on 05/14/2008, -0/+7I am patiently waiting for Stephon Marbury to be traded. Then I shall truly rejoice. He is such a cancer.
- Sroek, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4He would've been a better fit coaching the Bulls.
- Cattywampus, on 05/14/2008, -0/+4If Huffington Post had done an article on the Knicks, I'm sure someone would have posted it on Digg!
- RuffRidr, on 05/14/2008, -3/+6We'll soon find out who was more responsible for Phoenix's success, Nash or D'Antoni.
- helooksmortal, on 05/14/2008, -0/+3D'Antoni should be in Chicago. He wanted to go there first and foremost. The players there wanted him. Reinsdorf wasn't sure at first because of the price tag and the fact he'd still have to pay Skiles next year, too. Things were going to work... then he signs with New York. Bulls didn't even get a chance to make D'Antoni an offer.
He's just doing it for the money. He'd rather be rich and bored in NY. Good luck in New York, Mike. You're going to need it.
(*****: http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/bas ... - kenvsryu, on 05/14/2008, -2/+5There's no need to have a rookie coach but anything is better than Isiah "sexual harasser" Thomas.
- dselliott, on 05/14/2008, -3/+6D'Antoni's whiny act will not play in NY. I give it two disappointing years, max, before he gets booted.
- j4nj1m3n3z, on 05/14/2008, -1/+3He should be in Chicago. Stupid Jerry Reinsdorf, always screwing the Bulls over...
- Cattywampus, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2Unfortunately that won't solve the biggest problem -- James "J.D." Dolan. I keep hoping he'll decide to take his millions and retire and play with his rock band, and sell the Knicks and the Garden to someone who knows and cares about professionals sports and their fans.
- monseur, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2More money + lower expectations = welcome to New York
- inactive, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2they may buy him out.
- inactive, on 09/11/2008, -0/+2Lebron's going to NJ. Him and Jay-Z are friends and Jay-Z owns part of the team, AND they are relocating to Brooklyn.
You watch. - durmer, on 05/14/2008, -0/+2His brother was my high school basketball coach.
Socastee Braves FTW! - inactive, on 09/11/2008, -1/+3they ruined his roster, then blamed him for it .. same thing?
- jaalin, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1i agree. his weaknesses as a coach will be in full display with starbury running the show. we can hope that the curry/z-bo combo will work like shaq/amare did, but i highly doubt it, given the players' track record. they better hope they land the #1 ping pong ball and take derrick rose...
- ParticleMan420, on 05/14/2008, -2/+3mike is for money and the D is for diamond
- basketballsense, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1i just wonder how are can d'antoni explain to people what is it going from nash and now to marbury... http://basketballnonsense.blogspot.com/2008/05/wha ... its like a 620 degree turn
- krahzee, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1It doesn´t matter who coaches this team for the next two to three years, so long as they do not continue the trend of trading expiring contracts for cast off players. Buy Stephon out, don´t trade him for crappy players with longer deals, and go from there. In the meantime, if D´Antoni can put a product on the floor that shows some hope, then itś gravy. Last year you could tell most of the veterans didn´t gave a *****. Let the kids play. They at least care, and the minutes will do their collective games some good.
- jankind, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1I can't imagine any team wanting him.
- phr0stbyte, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1actually he left the suns because he didn't like working with steve kerr. john paxson, the chicago bulls GM, is basically the same type of GM as steve kerr, very hands on. working under donnie walsh with the knicks was probably the main selling point for d'antoni because walsh is hands off. also if walsh can turn the roster around, the knicks will spend more money on players than the bulls ever would.
another reason was that the bulls weren't going to immediately sign him and the knicks were. if d'antoni negotiated with the bulls, the knicks would have signed mark jackson and then if things didn't work out between the bulls and d'antoni then d'antoni would have been 'stuck' with phoenix.
it was hardly about the money. - tolbs, on 05/15/2008, -0/+1Yes and I will never forgive him for that.
- NonLeftistDiggr, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1Finally, he's in a the league where he might be able to get to the finals with his system.
- bensone1, on 05/14/2008, -2/+3The Knicks are going to be great with D'Antoni, it pisses me off to hear people bash him! He gets to run the Knicks the way he wants to instead of the way it was in Pheonix where the GM told him how to be the coach! Good luck Mike!!!!
- uncommonwords, on 05/14/2008, -1/+2Not with that fat ass contract. I give him 3 years.
- basketballsense, on 05/16/2008, -0/+1http://basketballnonsense.blogspot.com/2008/05/wha ...
how can d'antoni explain to his son that nash is different from marbury? - cadmiumpaint, on 05/14/2008, -0/+1I always thought Lebron was about staying in Ohio and being the hometown superstar...
- Fygee, on 05/14/2008, -2/+4As a Phoenix fan, I want to cry right now.
Damn you Steve Kerr. - hollycowlman, on 05/19/2008, -0/+1Good Luck Mike I hope the Knicks fans don't eat ya alive with that great roster and team that Issiah paid way to much money for
- hollycowlman, on 05/19/2008, -0/+1To bad for the Bulls, Smart owners realize money invested in good coaches goes a long ways.
- robertallen, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1Whether he has a defensive mind or not, you can't argue with the fact D'Antoni is still a decent upgrade over Isiah Thomas.
- pyngthyngs, on 05/17/2008, -0/+0My guess is that D'Antoni will look like a genius as Nash runs out of gas next year.
- dhaney88, on 05/26/2008, -0/+0Mike is a great coach but really only focuses mainly on offense which doesnt win championships, also the roster he is workin with is terrible. Get rid of marbury and curry for a star pg like baron davis and a few good defensive athletic players and then this team might have a chance at getting over .500
