- Rojs, on 11/08/2009, -3/+15There's no Iverson in "team".
Retire already....puleeze! - teamr, on 11/08/2009, -3/+12We're talking about practice, man. I mean, how silly is that? We're talking about practice
- kjk437, on 11/08/2009, -3/+11It was the best thing the Nuggets could have done, getting rid of him. No way they could have succeeded with both him and Carmelo wanting 45 shots a game.
- MrZaiko, on 11/08/2009, -3/+10You cant really form a good team with a guy like Iverson, He just ***** up any lineup, wants more minutes, and Its unreliable.
He acts like hes young and hes waiting for that perfect team with little Iverson clones. - Cashed420, on 11/08/2009, -3/+10He was never really any good in my opinion. I don't understand why teams even sign him when he doesn't give a crap about anyone or anything but himself. I hope he never plays in the NBA again.
- Deveak, on 11/08/2009, -3/+7Trending...why does that sound like some new age ***** buzzword?
- slimasian, on 11/08/2009, -3/+6Why is Allen Iverson still playing? Can't the guy take a hint that he's over the hill?
- nedy78, on 11/08/2009, -0/+2There's no doubting his individual talent, but most of his awards are "individual awards." He has no regard for his team. He was a force to be reckoned with in the past, but his ability to control games is over, especially if his attitude continues to interfere with his game.
- MrTarHeel, on 11/08/2009, -3/+5he said hes never been a loser, but what has he ever won, on any level of basketball?
- Quaestor44, on 11/08/2009, -2/+4C'mon guys, HE 'SPOSED TO BE FRANCHISE PLAYA
- PhillyMJS, on 11/09/2009, -0/+2He's still the same arrogant little ***** we're glad to be rid of in Philadelphia. And I don't even like or care about basketball, I just got tired of not being able to watch the news without them having to talk about his latest tantrum or thug behavior.
- shortmilton, on 11/08/2009, -2/+4Awwww....somebody call poor little Allen Iverson a WAAAambulance. He should be thankful he's even got a job anymore.
- JoeHague, on 11/08/2009, -1/+2You must be high. Iverson is a 10x NBA All-Star, 2x NBA All-Star game MVP, Rookie of the Year, 4x Scoring Champion, 3x Steals Champion, 3x All-NBA first team, 3x All NBA second team, and NBA MVP.
- kavery, on 11/08/2009, -3/+4The only person who believes AI is actually worth two ***** and a twizzler anymore is AI. When you can't start for the Grizzlies, it says something about where your declining skills are.
- RavagesOfTime, on 11/08/2009, -2/+3I wish the Joe D would've done this last year as quick as Memphis did when the Pistons got stuck with Iverson.
- audrina22, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1i believe it's because of the fact that the grizzlies are aiming for their valuable younger cores to develop for the future of the franchise such as starting PG-Mike Conley Jr.(4th pick of the 2007 draft) and starting SG-O.J. Mayo(3rd pick of the 2008 draft).
Probably they signed him mainly to get some fans watch home games. I don't know why fans/critics suddenly started to doubt A.I. despite of last year's fluke he still averaged 17 point per game last year after being traded to Detroit. A feat that would be sufficiently productive for other players, but since it's A.I. (people expect more from him). I'm not a die hard Iverson fan, but i'm just saying this shows how great of a caliber player he is(since 17pp wont cut it). Yes,it could be his ego why everyone else is ticked off with this. But still AI is AI, that's what made him AI.period.People nowadays just loves to see Greatness fail/fall..or Hero to die on a story or fail to succeed it's goal.Tsk! - Natru3al, on 11/10/2009, -0/+1It's not just that but he is a 6' 150lb shooting guard. It's hard to build a philosophy around that, you would need either another point guard and play small ball or acquire a point forward to bring the ball up and manage the game. The Sixers were successful when they had Eric Snow at the point then they had a bunch of good offensive rebounders around him to get his missed shots. AI just presents a problem for most teams because the role he fills. And then you take in to consideration the guy just doesn't like to practice and then he becomes too much of a liability.
- bigstinky, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1Digg me down...While you're at it, you should digg up another xkcd comic. digg has become a joke, much like it's contingent.
- Nlewis4, on 11/08/2009, -1/+2i hear the euroleague is looking for more washed up nba players
- BerateBirthers, on 11/09/2009, -1/+2I blame the coach. When you sign a star, you have to treat him like a star. And you don't want to treat him like a star, you need to make sure the star knows what's going on.
Iverson can still score. The problem is he's been on teams where he has to pass and play team ball, and that's not his game. With the 76ers, they all understood: winning means giving Iverson the ball and letting him do his thing.
The mark of a great coach is letting the players do what they are good at. Lionel Hollins is being selfish in forcing Iverson to do what he wants. - Cockslap, on 11/09/2009, -0/+1We're talking about Practice......
- JoeHague, on 11/08/2009, -0/+1Saying he has no regard for his team is slightly shortsighted. Has he always been a selfish player? No doubt about it. Does he have a history of being a terrible teammate? Absolutely. Is he washed up now? Yes, and he has been for some time.
But keep in mind, when he was in his prime years, he played with a ton of very forgettable players. He made his team better by being selfish, and he took that team pretty far mostly on his own. - cuervoman914, on 11/08/2009, -1/+2im glad he never won a ring. "athletes" (hes a goddamned diva) like him are despicable to any sport that they're involved in.
- thouthtless, on 11/08/2009, -2/+2Iverson always was a headcase.
- BerateBirthers, on 11/09/2009, -1/+1The 76ers teams with Iverson were great. All he needs is a coach who understands that he needs the ball in his hands all the time, and a group of role-players who can set their ego aside for him. Until the Grizzlies are willing to do that, they are wasting a great talent.
- ThantiK, on 11/08/2009, -1/+1So people in America aren't really fired/unemployed? They're just on indefinite leave?
- bigstinky, on 11/08/2009, -2/+2Many of us have been asking that question for some time. Digg's tech days are gone. We need to just get used to it. I gave up on questioning digg a long time ago. I also gave up on caring so much. It gets one nowhere.
That being said, this story does not surprise me. After watching Iverson's tirades in Detroit, it reaffirms that he's a one man show, completely incapable of the teamwork concept.
Funny thing is another team will be more than happy to pay him millions of dollars in hopes he may one day blossom into the player he's capable of being. - KDX200rider, on 11/08/2009, -4/+3Iverson needs some serious help, mental help. cooku...cooku.....cooku.
- Jenle7498, on 11/08/2009, -1/+0We talkin' about practice!!! Practice!!! We not talkin about a game, we talkin' about practice!!!
- JoeHague, on 11/08/2009, -3/+1It's a shame he never matured. For at least a little while, he was the greatest small man to ever play. He should a first ballot Hall of Fame-er. It's hard to get voted in though when you alienate yourself with teams across the country.
- dgillz, on 11/08/2009, -4/+1First ballot HOFer? Are you ***** kidding me? The following is a brief list of the little men who are/were better than him. Most did not score as well, but here is the list;
Tiny Archibald
Mo Cheeks
John Stockton
Norm Nixon
Isiah Thomas
Kevin Johnson
Mark Price
Please reddtors add more to my list. AI is the single most over rated player ever. - r3ap3r, on 11/08/2009, -13/+3What is this doing on a tech website?

What is Digg?
