online.wsj.com — General managers, agents, sportswriters and knowledgeable fans of the National Basketball Association log on every morning to Hoopshype.com for the latest in news and gossip. The pro basketball Web site has influenced player moves, stoked rivalries and now attracts more than a half-million unique visitors a month after starting from scratch in 2002

oh, hi.- fkr3, on 03/23/2008, -7/+2500,000 visitors a month and most powerful?
Don't the games get watched by 10x that many people? - debuggercll, on 03/24/2008, -0/+1How can we kill that which has no body?
- fkr3, on 03/23/2008, -7/+2500,000 visitors a month and most powerful?
- darylyounge, on 03/23/2008, -19/+12The NBA and knowledgeable in the same sentence?
- vertinox, on 03/23/2008, -8/+5Its amazing how much people care about whether or not a certain group of men put a leather ball through a hole a certain amount of times more than the other set of men. Its as if something permanently changes in the world for the better when one set of men show they are better than the other set of men even though the spectators do not participate or even provide actual support the game behind their TVs. Its as if they themselves have gone out and played a game and were victorious even though they sat on their butts on a couch somewhere.
At least the ancient Aztecs killed someone at the end of their games... Now that would be interesting.- toddsayshi, on 03/23/2008, -0/+9You were probably picked last in gym class.

- CChandler2423, on 03/23/2008, -9/+4Rotowire.com is still superior. This website is tough to navigate as well. Definite potential though!
- peznex, on 03/23/2008, -2/+27"three 29-year-old men working from their apartments in Spain. Collectively, they've been to two NBA games, although they watch on TV. One of them doesn't even like the sport."
LOL no wonder they were anon. - CChandler2423, on 03/23/2008, -8/+2Rotoworld.com is my favorite, not rotowire.
- frogman54, on 03/23/2008, -2/+11Those crafty Spaniards. Imagine the site they could make about fencing and childhood vendettas.
- Cattywampus, on 03/23/2008, -3/+13Great story. It's ironic that these guys are far outside the U.S. and haven't been to many games, yet have become a go-to source for so many NBA insiders.
- lazyfisherman, on 03/23/2008, -0/+0It's tells me that you don't have to go too far inside to have enough information to be perceived as an insider.

- Patori, on 03/23/2008, -1/+1They's geeks.
- StanMort, on 03/23/2008, -10/+0www.profootballtalk.com is the NFL version which in my opinion is much better
- BarrettAnderson, on 03/23/2008, -8/+33 people started a website in 2002 that currently gets 500,000 unique visitors per month, some of which happen to have jobs with the NBA and/or write or report about the NBA. Why is this on digg?
- GIFF3, on 03/23/2008, -1/+1Why are you on Digg?
- krnldmp, on 03/23/2008, -6/+2What's NBA?
- weoh, on 03/23/2008, -5/+2You nerds should be ashamed! Watching sports... don't get me started. Try asking a random person on the street in the States who Richard Feynman is. They'll most likely give you a blank stare, but if you ask them about a prominent sports player, they'll be able to tell you what size shoe he wears.
- ritter99, on 03/23/2008, -1/+4hail to the king, every day a new story about some smart person that stepped out of the hell of employment into the hall of fame of scoring big money with little effort on the internet. god, when will it be my turn??
- hugoguzman, on 03/23/2008, -6/+1Though not quite at the same level, my site realfootball365.com draws roughly 250,000 monthly uniques and gets cited by dozens of publications both for the NFL and college. And the guys that launched it are also "nobodies" to a certain extent. Anybody with a little initiative and passion for the sport can make it happen if they really give it their all.
- MarkCiccone, on 03/23/2008, -5/+4NBA, 'powerful news site'? Does anybody watch or care about the NBA anymore??
- Couchy, on 03/23/2008, -1/+3Never heard of it before, but good read, I'm going to checkout the site now. I love the NBA.
- Oryx, on 03/23/2008, -0/+1Is it just me, or does anyone else find the appellation "nobody" offensive? NOT Dugg for that!
- lazyfisherman, on 03/23/2008, -0/+0well, they are somebody now
- Sroek, on 03/23/2008, -0/+3realgm.com > HoopsHype
- kmalik, on 03/23/2008, -0/+1yeah no kidding.
- lazyfisherman, on 03/23/2008, -2/+0maxxsports.com pwns them all lol
- bingobongony, on 03/23/2008, -0/+2show me ONE player move it influenced.
- theandy1, on 03/23/2008, -0/+0haha one of the rumors on that site is that kiki vandeweghe will take over the knicks... makes me feel even more sorry for knicks fans.
- snively, on 03/23/2008, -0/+3google search for "nba news" shows insidehoops.com above hoopshype. run by a guy who actually attends nba games. i think i'll stick with this one.
- GaijinTenshi, on 03/24/2008, -0/+1They aren't on the first handful of pages when you search "NBA" on Google.
I did not bother after page 4.
