- suprememilo, on 06/30/2009, -3/+23I am a Rocket fan. FML.
- Gorgonzola44, on 06/30/2009, -0/+12How could you forget about GLOBAL SUPERSTAR Yi Jianlian and his 8 ppg?
- woofers07, on 06/30/2009, -1/+12Even my hatred for Rocket fans doesn't keep me from feeling bad for this guy.
- MaxxusFlamus, on 06/30/2009, -2/+13you make it seem like it's treason....he IS a chinese citizen after all.
It's not uncommon for players to play for their home countries in the Olympics. Russians and Canadians do it when playing hockey in the winter olympics, the Japanese and Dominicans do it for baseball in the summer olympics. - MasterTroll, on 06/30/2009, -0/+9Well, T-Mac will soon be on the trading block, Yao is out indefinitely, Ron will probably opt out and leave for a better deal... looks like it might be rebuilding time :-(
- jm5chn, on 06/30/2009, -0/+8Even Sun Yue on the Lakers won a championship ring already lol
- morrissey79, on 06/30/2009, -1/+8我的妈呀!!囧!!
- tmacfan123, on 06/30/2009, -0/+5Omg i'm a huge rockets fan (<----- look at username) and i was really excited about this season...now my favorite player might be traded, our only legit center might be out for the season, and Artest hearing all this will probably opt out no matter how much he likes Adelman...FML...
- jiaoziren, on 06/30/2009, -0/+5Hope this isn't true...
- earthjman, on 06/30/2009, -0/+4I hope this isn't true.
- defcobra08, on 06/30/2009, -2/+6there goes the NBA's Chinese fan base...
- tj111, on 06/30/2009, -0/+4What about your mother?
- simcjt, on 06/30/2009, -0/+3I don't think anyone believes they are a lock for a NBA championship but this greatly affects the benefits of having him for business reasons in markets such as China that not only hurt them but the NBA.
- BrandonJM, on 06/29/2009, -1/+4Sadly, this news has not stopped the trade rumors.
- scyphozoa, on 06/30/2009, -1/+4the injury makes me cringe, poor guy
- cuoops, on 06/30/2009, -1/+4He has not been great for the Rockets, but he's been good for the game
- AeroZeppelin, on 06/30/2009, -0/+3Yao must be pissed.
- morrissey79, on 06/30/2009, -1/+3I've only started studying Mandarin lately. I was actually going for 'oh my god'...followed by "jiong" which doesn't really have a meaning on its own, but looks like a sad face. Jiong is so hot right now on chinese message boards, even appearing on iron-on shirts and such.
- TurnipFarm, on 06/30/2009, -3/+5Time to put him down.
- pathouston22, on 06/30/2009, -0/+2Tell me about. These dumbass stuck with players that get injured year after year, magically thinking they will heal and not get injured anymore.
Yeah and ***** Pujols! That guy destroyed one of the best closers we ever had - made him a mental case. - Dismember, on 06/30/2009, -0/+1Actually, if Ron wants to get paid, Houston is his best option. Under the current rules, the Rockets can out pay any other team with a special exemption. Still ... he may go elsewhere because another team may have a better chance to win.
- ayycee, on 06/30/2009, -0/+1Yeah, I forgot about '04 with Pujols...I was actually at that game, so I guess I had successfully wiped it from my memory.
- QueenOfAStoner, on 06/30/2009, -0/+1Yes, but I think your martial art infused aerobic exercise routine has saved me.
- joshuajudah, on 06/30/2009, -1/+2wat
- zanzzz, on 06/30/2009, -0/+1It reminds me of when Kevin McHale of the Boston Celtics broke his foot years ago. When he came back he had lost at least a step and was no longer the dominating mismatch. Yao is a plodding player to begin with and any "speed" he loses will make him unfit for the NBA. I honestly think the Rockets are a better team without him even if healthy.
- cryofan, on 06/30/2009, -0/+1intelligent humor always gets modded down by the drones that inhabit online forums
- ks13, on 06/30/2009, -0/+1Astros made it to the NL championship series twice.
- ayycee, on 06/30/2009, -2/+2Houston is an underrated tortured sports city. Rockets haven't won since '95, Astros have advanced past the first round only once (swept in '05 World Series), and the Oilers never made it to the Super Bowl. The only worse city I can think of is Cleveland.
- taibo, on 06/30/2009, -0/+0Are you lost?
- andrewton, on 07/06/2009, -0/+0Honestly, I think Yao Ming can't play again, at least like before
- pear1jamten, on 06/30/2009, -2/+2Please Take Eddy Curry PLEASE!
- Dismember, on 06/30/2009, -2/+1The only problem is that it's not just the Olympics. Yao plays basketball in the offseason for China if it's an Olympic year or not. He plays year-round ball. He's bound to break down with no rest.
- simcjt, on 06/29/2009, -4/+3It just makes the Brooks and Battier for Rubio make a bit more sense. I couldn't understand why they would try to develop and start fresh when Yao was in his prime.
- BucketInc, on 06/30/2009, -7/+2Trade T-mac. Make room for Wade or Lebron for 2010.
- fatpiglazy2, on 06/30/2009, -5/+0Trade T-mac for kobe. I thinks its fair.
- parliboy, on 06/30/2009, -5/+0Yao doesn't really add that much to the table anyway. He's a walking injury that takes playing time away from people who have the opportunity to provide just as good a record more economically.
- inactive, on 06/30/2009, -6/+1Come on...No way to this happen!
---------------------------------------------------
http://www.oi-torpedo.com/ - inactive, on 06/30/2009, -8/+2The NBA is still around? I'll be damned.
- synapsis9, on 06/29/2009, -9/+3would love to see what happens during this time
- whipnet, on 06/30/2009, -10/+4As a Houstonian, I can say Yao has been a been a big waste of time and money from the beginning. But the Olympics did it for me. He takes time off from the Rockets with pay so he can rest and get better for the Olympics where he played for the Chinese.
* - QueenOfAStoner, on 06/30/2009, -8/+2Durr, I am a basketball playa. Durrrrrrrrrrr, hear my loud, heavy rap music I edited into my video to increase shock value. Durrrrrrr.
- whipnet, on 06/30/2009, -8/+1I think they play better with out him.
He's no Olajuwon.
* - inactive, on 06/29/2009, -9/+1Dont matter, its still the Rockets..they havent blasted anywhere in years.
