- Bukowsky, on 03/19/2008, -1/+28It was a good run, especially since everyone expected the Rockets to collapse when Yao went out for the season....
- UglieJosh, on 03/19/2008, -7/+3Yao is a good player but he has never seemed to fit well with the Rockets. This isn't the first time they have done better when he was injured.
Streak and all, I still had the Celtics picked easily to win this game. Seemed like a no-brainer to me, actually. I just hope my Pistons win at least one or two against them in the playoffs, making their road to the title a little uncomfortable, at least.- Sroek, on 03/19/2008, -0/+2Houston went 5-1 without McGrady this year, that doesn't mean they're better without him.
- pixelate, on 03/19/2008, -0/+2I'm a huge Celtics fan, I was giving the edge to the Rockets actually. Boston was on the 2nd night of a back-to-back (the first being a really tough win vs the Spurs), didn't have Ray Allen. I was pretty surprised by how the game went, but when Boston has their team defense really clicking they can be extremely tough.
- Rethcir, on 03/19/2008, -1/+1No *****, Sherlock.
- UglieJosh, on 03/19/2008, -7/+3Yao is a good player but he has never seemed to fit well with the Rockets. This isn't the first time they have done better when he was injured.
- Acronym, on 03/19/2008, -7/+0/me is not interested if there weren't any streakers in it.
J/K it was a good game...and guys stop betting - VMark, on 03/19/2008, -2/+7Before everyone comments about how easy their schedule was due to injuries and such (Dallas without Dirk, etc), keep in mind that they were without an all-star center for half the streak.
- UglieJosh, on 03/19/2008, -6/+1An all-star center that they have historically performed better when he was injured. This isn't the first year they improved, as a team, without Yao.
- Khangwin, on 03/19/2008, -1/+2historically? it happened one other time, and the streak was alive and while yao was still down.
- Klinky, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1Yep, they won 16 straight or so before Yao went down. They were just playing a high level of basketball which is proven by being able to continue to win 8 more games straight, only succumbing to the best team in the league(which was a close game at the half).
P.S: I am a Trail Blazers fan, so I am not bias :)!
- blankhorizons, on 03/19/2008, -1/+3Also the C's didn't have Ray Allen, but they still couldn't compete.
- mlbman11, on 03/19/2008, -1/+0did i ever say that?
NO

- Dobiewonkenobi, on 03/19/2008, -6/+19Celtics are taking it
- appleseed1234, on 03/19/2008, -9/+16After having our potentially historic Patriots winning streak all but ruined, it only seemed fair to destroy someone else´s.
- TobiasParker, on 03/19/2008, -8/+8We don't take kindly to your kind 'round here
- appleseed1234, on 03/19/2008, -1/+6We don't take kindly to those who don't take kindly 'round here.
- nbyn, on 03/19/2008, -13/+7It was ruined because they were forced to stop cheating.
- davdev, on 03/19/2008, -3/+1Yeah unlike the other 18 games they won ... moron
- ronaldinho, on 03/19/2008, -1/+8As a Bostonian, I would say that the Patriots deserve to lose that Super Bowl game to the Giants. Stop complaining because we didn't get robbed. We lost it and the Giants played better. And the Celtics won and snapped the Houston streakers also because we played better than them. It's fair only because the better team won.
- mlbman11, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1thank you. finally a patriots fan admits it.
I'm a jets fan, so i hate both teams equally. but the giants did play a better game and harassed tom Brady the entire night.- davdev, on 03/19/2008, -0/+5I am a huge Pats fan and I haven't heard anyone say the Giants didn't play a better game. Sure the Pat's played their worst game of the season, but that was because the Giants caused havoc all night long. The Giant's deserved to win that game. Though seeing that helmet catch over and over makes me want to throw up
- mlbman11, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1thank you. finally a patriots fan admits it.
- mota, on 03/19/2008, -0/+2quote ronaldinho here:
"Stop complaining because we didn't get robbed. We lost it and the Giants played better." ++ - JesusHatesYou, on 03/19/2008, -0/+0Will you be chanting "22 and 1" when the Houston Texans play at Foxboro in the future? I know "18 and 1" will be a popular chant for all NY sports teams whenever a Boston team show up.
- TobiasParker, on 03/19/2008, -8/+8We don't take kindly to your kind 'round here
- ahoyhoy1, on 03/19/2008, -14/+9Still better then the Patriot's winning streak, lol...
- UglieJosh, on 03/19/2008, -5/+6Umm... No it isn't.
I hate the Patriots and, even I, can't agree with that.- ahoyhoy1, on 03/19/2008, -1/+2No actually it is because they did not go undefeated to only lose in the NBA Finals. It's more of an embarrassment of what happened to the Patriots.
- UglieJosh, on 03/20/2008, -0/+1No, because the Rockets won't even likely make the finals. THAT is embarrassing.

- silvanov2002, on 03/19/2008, -1/+4Watched the game last night, was a pretty tight game the first half, but they shut down tracy mcgrady, and boston went on to slaughter them.
- hybridcreation, on 03/19/2008, -3/+13They're still a legit contender. I think this just shows how good the Celts are.

- weside, on 03/19/2008, -4/+7Time for the Celtics to do what the Patriots couldn't do - bring a Championship to Boston.
And yeah, I know Red Sox have done it, but Celtics haven't in 22 years. It'd be nice to see it happen! Then we'll have to get on the back of the Bruins.- forrman, on 03/19/2008, -1/+4Where have you been the last few years? Did you miss 3 Patriot championships? OTOH It would be nice for the Celtics to bring one home.
- dext3r, on 03/19/2008, -2/+1Yea, boo hoo, Boston. I'm here in Chicago shedding tears for your lack of championship sports teams. All we have in semi-recent times is the bulls of the 90s. Great.

- aserer511, on 03/19/2008, -6/+1rockets and patriots fan can have an "and 1" party
- kosan, on 03/19/2008, -2/+3That comment makes no sense. I see what you're trying to do but while an "and 1" party for the 18 - 1 Patriots would make sense especially since the "and 1" came from the last and most important game of the season. Putting the 46 - 21 Rockets in there because they lost a game at the end of a historic streak, in the middle of the season, in a game that won't keep them out of the playoffs (most likely) and won't have any affect on the championship, is just stupid.
So I'm not sure why you think the Rockets should have an "and 1" party. Maybe they should have an "and 21" party?- mlvassallo, on 03/19/2008, -2/+1Yeah, but will the Rockets break their " 1 and done" post season streak?

Patriots tear apart the NFL into the post season only to be humiliated by the New York Giants...- ohhaiitsryan, on 03/19/2008, -1/+0though im still in disbelief it ever happened, i can still take solace in that the g-man are my #2

- dansmeek, on 03/20/2008, -0/+1well, it's taken out of context. it's hard to understand if you aren't really a baller but in europe they see us americans as a damn target. basketball is far dirtier there. a lot of cheap plays, dirty undercuts, etc. imagine a whole game like that when your used to playing with american rules making clean steals, etc. then t-mac just got a great swipe and cleanly took that ball. had to show him up ;)
i agree though. now that would be disrepectful. but that clip was from the 2000 games i believe.

- Bukowsky, on 03/20/2008, -0/+1mav's? you can't be serious.
- RonnyIsRondo, on 03/19/2008, -2/+1NOW everyone will start talking about the streak and how they failed instead of giving them credit as they should.
- badenglishihave, on 03/19/2008, -1/+6I love the Celts but props to the Rockets on a fantastic streak.
- blankhorizons, on 03/19/2008, -4/+2How is it historic, it's the 2nd best, not the best? I mean sure it's historic as in "it happened in he past", but no records were broken.
- jkr801, on 03/19/2008, -6/+1Celtics are good but there are a lot better teams in the west...Jazz owned the Celtics....and tmac is a baby and cries if he cant get past the first round
- murraj2, on 03/19/2008, -1/+1The Celtics are easily the favorite to win the NBA Championship and have been the best team in the league this season. Every team has games where they don't shoot went or the other team just plays better, like the Jazz game the other night. The Celtics are 22-4 against the West. In consecutive road games on consecutive nights they came back from 22 and beat last years NBA Champions and beat the 1st place team in the West who was on a 22 game win streak who also had the luxury of a day off on Monday. They're leading the league in opponents ppg, opponents FG % and opponents 3 Pt FG %, this isn't just the case of an Eastern Conference team destroying the weak eastern teams then getting crushed in the West.
- ronaldinho, on 03/19/2008, -1/+9The Cs just dominated. They look more and more a serious contender to win it all, and it was a team effort too. Go Celtics!
But I also want to say that the Rockets deserve much kudos for their win streak, and they are a true team that is more than the sum of their parts. If their defense and outside shooting remains stellar (and if T-Mac don't get hurt), these guys are still tough to play against. What the Rockets have done (especially without Yao) is nothing short of extraordinary. *tips hat to all of you Houstonians- DarkSpoon, on 03/19/2008, -2/+2thank you. im glad some people see this. im still in disbelief how people can say it was a fluke or that the rockets dont deserve it.
- Twinked, on 03/19/2008, -1/+2Thanks! We Houstonains don't get many compliments. The Rockets have really come into their own and proven they can play as a team. IMO I wouldn't have wanted to lose to any other team except the best team in the NBA right now, the Boston Celtics. What if this is a portend of the finals. Could it be 1986 all over again?
- chrisgeleven, on 03/19/2008, -0/+2Yeah as Boston fan, I would hate to face the Rockets in the playoffs. That would be one heck of a 7 game series. The Rockets had one heck of a run there. They are still 22-1 in their past 23. Talk about amazing!
- davdev, on 03/19/2008, -1/+122-1 in their last 23? I think your math is off

- HoratioHellpop, on 03/19/2008, -8/+0How is it a "historic" streak, if it's still way short of the current record? Typical journalistic sensationalism. Pitiful.
- ronaldinho, on 03/19/2008, -2/+2For comparison's sake......
Did the team that just beat them, the Celtics, win 22 straight? Not even 15 straight.
How about, oh, the 96 Bulls that went 72-10? Nope, I remember 18 straight was their longest.
Yes it's short of the current record, but it's still impressive. You can't even do that on video games sometimes. - Twinked, on 03/19/2008, -0/+3It's a historic streaking seeing as there has only been one other team to string more back to back wins then the Rockets record of 22-0. That was the 72 Lakers and they did 33 on a row. With the way the NBA is today getting a 5 game winning streak is tough. So pulling 22 off in a row was nothing short of Historic.
- HoratioHellpop, on 03/19/2008, -2/+0Who came in second place in the NBA in 1979? Can't remember? Exactly. Nobody remembers who came in second. So, it's not historic.
- ronaldinho, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1Winning streaks are different, because you do it over a number of games, over a stretch even longer than the playoffs. I might not remember who was second place in 1979, hell I don't even remember who won it all that year.
- HoratioHellpop, on 03/19/2008, -2/+0Who came in second place in the NBA in 1979? Can't remember? Exactly. Nobody remembers who came in second. So, it's not historic.
- Bukowsky, on 03/20/2008, -0/+1It is historic in the fact that only ONE other team in NBA history have won 22 games straight. How & why would you NOT consider this historic?
- ronaldinho, on 03/19/2008, -2/+2For comparison's sake......
- DarkSpoon, on 03/19/2008, -1/+2its sad to see it end but im glad it was to a great team like the Celtics. they dominated my rockets the entire night. gg.

- phambam, on 03/19/2008, -0/+3Boston's defense was too good. Held up to Houston's offense. McGrady was shut down.
- alpinweiss88, on 03/19/2008, -0/+3Amazing streak, but that makes the longest streak even more amazing - '71-'72 Lakers with 33!
- getisboy, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1why are you getting dugg down?
- plethorex, on 03/19/2008, -0/+2Tracy McGrady is still my boy, despite his 8 point flop last night. Without Yao in the paint, we just couldn't stop Garnett or Paul Pierce. 22 is still a hell of a run, makes me glad to be a Rockets fan!
- FlakeCannon, on 03/19/2008, -1/+2I don't really understand why so many people are comparing them to the patriots. The Patriots went to the Super Bowl undefeated. The Rockets were barely over 500 when their streak started. Despite the win streak they're still not even in 1st place in their division. Hardly a comparison, congrats to the Rockets and the Celtics.
- smackafiyah, on 03/19/2008, -1/+2Actually, they're #1 in the western conference (as of now anyway)
- AlexanderCurtis, on 03/19/2008, -1/+0Tied with the Lakers.

- smackafiyah, on 03/19/2008, -1/+1Dah well, it was a good run while it lasted. What was more amazing that prior to last night they hadn't lost in over a month and a half. Just hope this one loss doesn't change their momentum.
- saturdaysaint, on 03/19/2008, -1/+0You can't take away from an achievement like that, but it's too bad that their streak was bookended by losses to two teams (Utah and Boston) that will loom largest in the playoffs...
As far as I'm concerned, the Jazz are the new Spurs - the road to the Finals goes through them as far as any team out West is concerned. - DarthTurducken, on 03/19/2008, -0/+1I love the Rockets but they're too unpredictable - especially McGrady. He only scored 8 points last night and only 11 in their win against the Lakers for #22.
- fredmv, on 03/19/2008, -0/+3And that's how Boston does it.
- RickMurrow, on 03/20/2008, -0/+1And they even did it without Ray Allen.. One of the "big three" down... On the road. 22 game streak.. And the Celtics win by TWENTY. All credit to the Rockets for their streak. Boston is on a roll. The western conference is monster, but Boston is playing incredible defense. Normally I would think the champ would come from the West.. Not anymore. Cassell & PJ Brown are good for depth too.
Everyone talked about all the changes in Boston... The starting line up for the Houston game featured: Rondo, Perkins, Tony Allen, Pierce & Garnett. Four of those five played for the Celts last year when they sucked! With just Garnett & some bench they still kick butt and are setting new standards for league defense. Not too bad.

- pat0neill, on 03/19/2008, -0/+2my comment was buried on the win streak article page and i got flamed to hell for saying that the celtics were going to womp them. gg.
- 2NYC3, on 03/20/2008, -1/+1Why would anyone digg this story? The rockets' streak coming to end is a story that should be buried. Getting blown out by 20 points isn't the best way to end a 22 game winning streak. Fuk the Celtics!
- chinkubus, on 03/20/2008, -0/+0i went to the game last night and it was painful watching the 2nd half. Mcgrady with 2 points in the second half is not gonna help us at all. and we lost to Hornets tonight as well. We need to step it up big time! =*(
- mutwirik, on 03/20/2008, -0/+2Say the Rockets finish 2nd or 3rd in the West, they might meet Suns, Spurs, Jazz or Hornets in the 1st round of playoffs.
I predict a1!st round exit... - colt15, on 03/20/2008, -0/+1Rockets is going to have an "*" on their 2ND longest winning streak of all time. The only team on the all time winning streak list that didn't win a championship. That's so sad...and I'm from Houston. That's depressing! I hope I'm wrong. The streak is nice! but a championship or even getting past the 1st round playoffs would be way better.
- basketballsense, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1I just hope that the t-mac MVP TALK WOULD END TOO!!
