- pinuck, on 06/04/2008, -1/+16Kobe have always had the skills. All he ever needed was to lower his ego and play ball the way it is supposed to be; as a team.
On another note, Kobe deserved that MVP. - jup619, on 06/04/2008, -1/+16love him or hate him, he is simply the most dominant player in the league.
- Zarchon, on 06/04/2008, -1/+13Yes, Kobe was accused of rape, accused by a woman who had sperm from two different guys in her panties. She is a whore. She went to his room and had sex with Kobe. Then she calls it rape and, as always, thevery liberalleft hereat Digg automatically finds him guilty. Rape? I hardly think so. And while on the subject of rape, I think Mike Tyson was railroaded too. Maybe you don't like these guys but neither of these woman were where they should have been. If you are in Mike's hotel room at 2 in the morning and naked, well, seems you were expecting something. Kobe and Mike have no reason to rape any woman. They can both get all the pussy they want just because they are famous. It's like believing Bll Gates would rob some guy at gun point for $35. Just keep hating.
- Farmer77, on 06/04/2008, -2/+12So many people hate him even before the rape charges and championships. This is because he began his career when Jordan was ending his and so there are always people comparing the two, which is unfair to Kobe. He is great in his own right and if they re-did the top 50 NBA players of all time, he most certainly would make the list.
- vision777, on 06/04/2008, -0/+7Kobe is and has been the best player in the NBA for a few years. He already has 3 championships and I know many will say it was Shaquile, but without Kobe they would not have won. He was as important a part in those wins as Shaq. Jordan didn't win his first championship until he was 28 and Kobe is only 29. Not saying he is Jordan but he is the best we have now.
- Omek, on 06/04/2008, -2/+8Woohoo... go Kobe! I hope the Lakers win.
- harrison5394, on 06/04/2008, -0/+5America doesn't realize that falling in love with Kobe Bryant doesn't mean we have to break up with Michael Jordan.
- smitlet, on 06/04/2008, -0/+5Maybe if you combined all them together. Neither of the aforementioned have one a title besides bryant.
- smitlet, on 06/04/2008, -0/+4Rape charges aside.... Dude is the best player in the NBA. in March 3rd issue of Sports Illustrated Kobe lands himself on the cover. That was when he scored 551 points in 13 games. Flash forward 5 years later and dude has expanded to involving his team and still scoring ridiculous numbers. If the Lakers win the finals and Kobe goes on to win at the Olympics He would be the first player to win the world championship, league mvp, win nba championship, and the olympics (shall I dare say it) since Michale Jordan did so. Has he reached his pinnacle in his basketball career? No, there is still much more to basketball then just simple playing. It would be interesting to see him in a general manager role. if he does great then, well maybe we can say he reaches his pinnacle.
- rearl7, on 06/04/2008, -0/+4KOBE is by far the best player in the NBA and has been for the last 6 years. Allot of people credit his 3 NBA titles to being Shaq's sidekick. The fact is that neither of them could have won a title without each other with the way the competition was in early 2000's. Shaq got their when he was in Orlando and had Penny Hardaway as his sidekick. They got swept by the Rockets! It is true that Kobe has a huge ego and has alienated some of his team ates in the past, but he has come full circle and finally figured out a way to trust his team ates and make them better just like all the greats did before him. Jordan didn't win his first title until his 7th season. It took him a while to figure out how to make his team ates better and trust them to make shots. Not everyone can win the title as a rookie and have the innate ability to make their team ates better the way Magic did.
Lakers in 6 - jsams81, on 06/26/2009, -0/+4I think youre right. People love Jordan so much that they will hate anybody that is compared to him.
- cli006, on 06/04/2008, -0/+4Earth to Raphas, have you watched ANY games from this season?
Kobe SWEPT the Nuggets with AI/Melo, T-Mac couldn't win a playoff series this season despite crying on camera about it before.. Shawn Marion/Baron Davis???
GTFO, you're completely talking out your ass. I would like to see ANY of those players put together a 20 pt comeback against the Spurs, arguably the most consistent team in the NBA - jsams81, on 06/26/2009, -0/+4shawn marion? are you serious?
mcgrady cant win a playoffs series.
baron davis is good, iverson too, but better than kobe? nah - misterdrumz, on 06/04/2008, -1/+4True, I saw an interview on espn during the Boston-Detroit game 6 and he laughed at them comparing him to MJ, he is something different from MJ,
IMHO I believe there won't be another MJ but I sure as hell respect Kobe more than overrated Lebron any day. Lebron basically screams when he drives the lane in hope that the referee will hear and instantly blow the whistle! - HamSandwich, on 06/04/2008, -1/+4Overrated? Name 5 players in the entire league that are better than him.
- jsams81, on 06/26/2009, -0/+3Duncan has flopped and whined about foul calls way more than Kobe.
- rearl7, on 06/04/2008, -0/+2Are you saying that T-Mac is better the Kobe? He hasent even won a NBA championship or scoring title let alone 3 and 2 for KOBE. Iverson is the closest to Kobe on your list. I wont even coment on Baron and Merrion! LOL What are you smoking?
- babydick, on 06/04/2008, -0/+2I hate Duncan...
Bury on. - smitlet, on 06/04/2008, -0/+2Yes, but Kobe made Gasol better. look at the numbers
- jrockinthebox, on 06/04/2008, -0/+2The top 50? Try top 5:
1. Jordan
2. Wilt
3. Magic
4. Kareem
5. Kobe
You might not agree now, but it will be hard to argue that list after Kobe wins a few more MVP awards and Championship rings, maybe even more scoring titles or a DPOY. - Culiada, on 06/04/2008, -0/+2HEY, I recognize you! You're the guy that raped that little crippled girl, Wendy.
harhar, everyone hates you now. - Wangzero, on 06/04/2008, -1/+3I think it is time that Kobe jumps the shark -- if you know what I mean
- tawal, on 06/04/2008, -0/+1McGrady was the scoring champion twice, back-to-back.
- Raphas, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1I agree I was a bit provocative with my statement, but I don't understand why yall say Kobe is in another league , like totally incomparable with these other season mvps...I think Duncan, nash iverson ... they all play at some incredible level and kobe can certainly compete but finally got mvp only this year by starting to share the ball.
- inactive, on 06/06/2008, -0/+1Kobe should celebrate with another relaxing raping of a hotel employee.
- jsams81, on 06/26/2009, -1/+2if they beat the celtics, yes. definitively yes.
- tshipp, on 06/05/2008, -0/+1No doubt about that. As much as I hate to say it, Kobe Bryant is the best player in the league- no question. Period. I fear him more than anybody else late in the game.
- damnclem, on 06/04/2008, -0/+1I once had to actually argue that Kobe is not, nor will be better than MJ. I'm pretty sure he's gotten about as good as he can get...and it's still not beating Jordan.
- inactive, on 06/06/2008, -0/+1Lakers really dominated last night, didn't they.
Kobe = can't win without Shaq - inactive, on 06/04/2008, -1/+2So you're saying he should do what Micheal Jordan did?
You're an idiot. - Raphas, on 06/10/2008, -0/+1Please see the reality : kobe is not that incredible and he's a bit overrated. He's one of the top players but not out-of-this-world, he has all shots open whenever he wants from his teammates, in this league where defense decreased over the years. Compare the defense now, to what Jordan had to experience...
And see how Pierce is more decisive than him on the finals. I don't know who's best but I wouldn't say you can't compare Pierce and Kobe.
you can remove some players from my list maybe, but add another few there... - dhaney88, on 06/07/2008, -0/+0that makes no sense what so ever
- fhernand, on 06/04/2008, -3/+3he has reportedly repeatedly reaped representative repudiation, but he has rapidly repented and repaired his reputation...
- dhaney88, on 06/07/2008, -0/+0lol but when Jordan was in the NBA that was nothin right
- dhaney88, on 06/07/2008, -0/+0I totally agree with everything you said LAKERS in 6
- dhaney88, on 06/08/2008, -0/+0lol I really really hope you are just kidding Marion, Tmac, Iverson, BD?!?!?!?!?!?!?! better than kobe I think not no one in the league is close to being as good as kobe. I would have to say the next most dominant player in the league is Duncan or CP3.
- dhaney88, on 06/07/2008, -0/+0More like this
1.Jordan
2.Kobe
3.Magic
4.Kareem
5.Russell
dont get me wrong but back in like the late 60's 70's era bball was played way different its much harder to be great in todays game because theres so much talent thats why my top five excluding Bill Russell are all 80's and up era players. - dhaney88, on 06/07/2008, -0/+0Until the 2nd half yes they did
Im not worried because the celtics wont get the contribution they got from cassell and pj the rest of the series, kobes gonna bounce back, Pierce isnt gonna make a 4 point play and hit 2 back to back 3's to spark the C's ever again. All we gotta do is steal one on the road and its a wrap the celtics play ***** on the road yes I know they beat the pistons twice but the pistons werent 100% and there not the lakers. Im stickin to what I said before the series started Lakers in 6. - rearl7, on 06/05/2008, -0/+0Oops my bad. I guess that slipped my mind (back to back scoring titles) because he didnt produce in the playoffs.
- shamanking911, on 06/05/2008, -0/+0no
- dhaney88, on 06/05/2008, -0/+0Besides Jordan Kobe is the best to ever play the game and soon will eventually be the best ever, with the dynasty that is started with the lakers now I see kobe winning 3-4 more championships if not more before he retires, the guys only 29 and has already accomplished so much. To all the kobe haters he didnt rape anyone you just say that cause thats the only thing you got on him, you know kobe didnt rape that girl I guarantee that girl seen kobe and was quick to get kobe in his room so they could bang so she could try to set him up. But anyways Kobe and the Lakeshow are gonna run the desperate Celtics into the ground and start there dynasty and once Bynum returns theres no way anyones stoppin the lakers.
- MRintheKeys, on 06/05/2008, -0/+0What did Kobe do his rookie year?
- MRintheKeys, on 06/04/2008, -1/+1Um yeah. Last time I checked, Michael Jordan has a much better public image than Kobe Bryant.
- dhaney88, on 06/07/2008, -0/+0very true that kobe and jordan are 2 different types of players. Kobes the closest thing to jordan so everyone compares them and Lebron is a very overrated player, he is good but cant take over the game like kobe can but he most likely will develop into the leagues best player once kobe retires
- dhaney88, on 06/08/2008, -0/+0you must be a kobe hater
