Former Home of Sixers, Flyers to be Demolished

sports.espn.go.com — The Spectrum, the former home to the Philadelphia 76ers and Flyers, will close and be demolished next year. Arena owner Comcast-Spectacor, has plans to replace it with a complex of shops, bars, restaurants and a hotel. The arena was built in 1966 and saw Christian Laettner's game-winner for Duke, Dr. J, and two Bobby Knight titles.
