- kaiser44, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4he was on of the best, worked his ass off and played till he could not play anymore.
Would have been hard for the celtics to get to the pinnacle/ bird era without him
No flair no flash, just a damn good hard nosed player.
It was a pleasure to watch him play.
Now d. ainge was a pain in the ass. - MrKC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1DJ was an important part of the great 80's Celtic teams. He will be missed.
- SlackerCSB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Agreed!
- chrisgeleven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't remember him (too young) during his playing career, but I have seen the highlights and watched the old replays on ESPN Classic. The guy was the exact blueprint of a PG.
When you talk about the Celtics in the mid-80s, you should really talk about "The Big Four" (Bird, McHale, Parrish, and Johnson). Few teams can ever come close saying they had a starting lineup like that. - j37hr0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2He should be in the Hall of Fame already.
- analyze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That sucks...he died young.
- zarkkan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1He was one heck of a player. I loved bb back in the 80's and the Celtics were my team. It's just not the same these days.
He will be missed... - mynameismudd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This has been a miserable year for the C's with Red and Dj passing. We don't even need to mention the play on the court. I think God should see to it we get the #1 pick in the draft, it's the least he could do.
- REBOP, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2pics or it didn't happen.
- JDWTC, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Was this the guy who just came out as gay?
- matts0344, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2I hate gay people. They shoulden't be in America.
- tsiemaszko, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1If you want to read a great article on DJ then definitely check this one out...
http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/070222 - TheJas, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Just take two seconds to check the damn story and write the headline right. Buried as inaccurate.
- douggmc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"Just take two seconds to check the damn" date and time on the story submission header above ... dickwad.
- Hoopkidups, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2He submitted it yesterday, but it didn't make it to the front page until today.
- madtowner11, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My most favorite starting NBA lineup ever:
Bird, McHale, Parrish, Johnson, Ainge
/I hate L.A. - electronicmaji, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2is this the same person as magic johnson? If so understandble his death..
