Former Celtics player Dennis Johnson died today at age 52

boston.com — Former Celtics player Dennis Johnson died today at age 52, Celtics executive director of basketball operations Danny Ainge confirmed to The Boston Globe. The Austin American-Statesman is reporting on its website that Johnson fell ill at the Austin Convention Center in Texas this afternoon.

  • chrisgeleven, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I don't remember him (too young) during his playing career, but I have seen the highlights and watched the old replays on ESPN Classic. The guy was the exact blueprint of a PG.

    When you talk about the Celtics in the mid-80s, you should really talk about "The Big Four" (Bird, McHale, Parrish, and Johnson). Few teams can ever come close saying they had a starting lineup like that.
